Lost a lot of time solving problems of a duty car that broke every time I was on my way to some place. Don't recommend.

We booked this car rental through Zest an English car rental broker. They organised everything with Visa Car for us and put us in contact with Visa Car agents for collecting the car. I would highly recommend Visa Car rentals in the Algarve. We were hesitant to rent a car as an under 25 y/o couple as I had read some disappointing reviews on main stream rental companies. We hired with Visa Car from Faro airport, and retuned the car in their Albufeira office. It was flawless, start to finish. Joshua in Faro airport was incredibly nice and helpful and put us at ease right away. Will definitely be using this company again.
The Zest helpline was an excellent service too, as we had some questions before we arrived, and the customer service agent promptly replied to us (on a Saturday!) with an email detailing responses.
The rental company also called us before we arrived to confirm time of collection and where to pick up the car.
The rental office is located in P4 in Faro airport, different location to the main car rental area, but still only a couple minute walk.

Visacar (Albufeira) and Locauto (Carvoeiro) have never disappointed us! We have been renting almost exclusively from these two amazing locations for approximately two years now. The autos are always immaculate and well-maintained, and the customer service is the best we have ever experienced with any car rental company in two different countries. They make an amazing team and are like family. No customer will ever feel less than a VIP status with Visacar and Locauto! We HIGHLY recommend!!!

Not located on airport. However they are only a 5 minute drive away. You phone a local number (WhatsApp) & they pick you up by shuttle bus. Check out was simple & no high pressure insurance upgrade speech. Car was near new. Checking in was also straight forward & we were promptly driven to airport. Whatever issues with road tolls have been resolved as we received a detailed toll list by email same day as return & a small list about 3 days later.

In my search for a rental car for our week's holiday in Portimão, I came across Locauto close to our hotel. What a SUPER nice welcome and what a good prices. The car we got had only driven 230 km. So just a new car; that's what you want. When returning the car, there was a lot of confidence, they did not check the car. This was a very nice experience. Definitely worth 5 stars. I recommend Locauto in Portimão to everyone; an excellent rental company.

The first car they provided was perfect for my holiday and an upgrade, bonus. But sadly I had to return it as the oil filter change light came on. I made contact with them and they immediately replaced it with another car that was of the same standard. Nothing was too much trouble, staff were excellent, what a service.

This company charged me for managing the motorway tolls and didn’t pay them. I am now being hounded by the company in the UK.

Whilst other professional car hire companies e.g. Sixt have acknowledged and resolved issues with the toll system during 2022 this shoddy outfit continues to refuse to.
Only use this company if you want to be chased by debt collectors and threats of increasing fines and administrative costs.
AVOID THIS COMPANY

Similar to other reports about visacar, I hired a car from them paid for the toll tag and gave then my credit card details to collect the due tolls. There was a problem with the toll system and rather than sort it out visacar said they tried to contact me - they didn’t I never received any calls. They said they tried to collect the due tolls from the credit card I gave them - my bank confirmed that no charges were ever presented for payment. I am now being chased by a debt collection company due to Visacar. Sixt and other trustworthy companies have dealt with these issues for their customers. I strongly recommend not using visacar unless you want to run the risk of being threatened by debt collectors.

This company says that they tried to recover outstanding tolls for June last year but the transaction failed. I asked for details (since I am an unaware that I changed any of my cards) but they were unable to supply any. They also had my contact details which have not changed. Consequently, because of either a mistake or poor administration
I now have to deal with an aggressive debt collection firm which is trying to load all sorts of fees.

Rented car with visa car in Lisbon, absolutely great experience with them, airport collection and drop off was perfect, we were treated so well by the guy that did the pick up and drop off and who also did all the paperwork and hand over of our car, which was a better model than we were expecting, probably the best value rental at the moment , we will definitely use them next year, thanks again… Chris

TRULY SUBLIME! Do not go to the major rental companies in Portugal, but try Visacar instead. This is a trustworthy rental company with a high level of service. They treat you with the greatest respect and respond swiftly on any of your questions (in fluent English). Everything was smoothly arranged. I rented a car via HERTZ, but the hospitality Visacar show you, is something HERTZ and others put in last place. For hotel Vila Petra, Visacar even delivers and picks up your car at the front desk. My advice (and also Visacar's) is to buy the full insurance instead of the basic. No matter how careful you are with the rental car, Albufeira is full of drunken people at night. My rental car was vandalized while parked, but thanks to the full insurance coverage all was taken care of by Visacar. Otherwise I had to take full responsibility for a maximum of EUR 922. Be aware that you afterwards be charged (as stipulated in every rental contract in Portugal) for toll roads you used during the rental period.

If you are coming to Aluberfeira this is the only place to hire your car from. Give your money to a local company with excellent rates and lovely staff.
