⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Craig will be truly missed!

I popped into my local Wickes in Southport today, only to find that the brilliant store manager, Craig, has moved on to another store. I just had to leave a note to say what a truly amazing, helpful gentleman he is.

Ever since the store opened, whenever I've gone in with questions, Craig has gone above and beyond to give excellent advice. He will be genuinely missed.

Good luck, Craig, at whichever Wickes store you've moved to. I'm sure you'll be a brilliant manager and a role model to everyone you work with. A truly amazing, helpful gentleman who will be missed!

Every time I visit the Southport store the staff can’t do enough to help, you have a lovely bunch of people working there, especially Shirley what an absolutely lovely lady she is, she even consoled me when I burst into tears at a song that was playing in store as I’ve just lost my dad & it was his funeral song. There is also a gentleman there I’m not sure of his name but he has an accent, he is lovely and very helpful and he’s funny 😁 so well done Southport staff I always feel comfortable asking for help in your store.

The new Wickes shop at Southport is bright and airy, very clean, well laid out and well stocked. It is a much more pleasant shopping experience than another well known DIY shop nearby. The staff were friendly and helpful. Thanks all.

I recently made use of the community fund scheme at Wickes and they have been incredible. My outdoor area in my classroom needed updating and Wickes were more than happy to provide some materials. Jack was very informative and happy to help when we first spoke and him and Rachel kept me updated until it was ready for collection.

First time in this store and the customer service was outstanding especially Paul and another colleague who was on the till who i didnt catch his name. Paul and his colleague assisted me with getting everything I needed and even bringing it out to my van. The store is clean and inviting. Extremely friendly staff who made my me feel comfortable and nothing was too much.

I needed some help choosing the right things to buy for a project to prepare my stairs for painting. I had a general idea of what needed to be done, but as I’d never tackled anything like this before, I was a little worried about getting it wrong.
Mike was amazing. He talked me through the whole process and showed me the different things I would need, without pushing me to buy anything. Everything he recommended was practical, realistic and within my budget.
The advice and help Mike gave me really gave me the confidence to get started on the project. I’m very grateful for his patience and guidance and will make Wickes my go to DIY store.

I honestly couldn't be happier with the service I received from Steve Ambler at Wickes Southport.

From my very first appointment, Steve made the whole process feel easy and enjoyable. He took the time to understand exactly what I wanted, offered great advice and ideas, and helped create a kitchen that perfectly suits my home. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and throughout the project he was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and always happy to help.

Now that the kitchen is finished, Steve recently came back to carry out a post-installation check. This really demonstrated his commitment to customer care and attention to detail. Rather than considering the job done once the installation was complete, he wanted to make sure everything was finished to a high standard and that I was completely happy with the end result.

I absolutely love my new kitchen. Steve's support, expertise, and genuine care throughout the entire process made what could have been a stressful project a smooth and enjoyable experience.

A huge thank you to Steve and everyone at Wickes Southport. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering a new kitchen. Outstanding service from start to finish!

We paid Wickes in full, & their approved contractor nearly £25000, they failed to even finish our kitchen. Our home was left in a dreadful mess each day taking hours to clean up. We asked for an installation manager to visit 1 month ago and have been ignored. The contractor, interferered with other contractors we had arranged for completely separate works contacting them & telling them they were doing their job wrong. Wickes CEO David Woods has been contacted weeks ago and the complaints team have still failed to support us.
We have been left with leaking pipes, multiple cupboards that are shoddy and slapdash. Large holes cut out in the wrong places, plaster splattered all over the floor which we were left to clean up ourselves. Appliances that won't fit where they should do, due to contractor not looking a works schedule. Rubbish, about a skip full left down side of house, with no plan to collect. Screws, sharp bits of metal left every night on floor. No protection for our home, floors etc, despite us asking 4 times to please bring it, we had to purchase our own at a cost of £30. Wickes contractor has left scratched handles, that won't tighten, shelves that are damaged.... the list goes on and on, built a cupboard to totally wrong spec. Had plaster come on after cupboards were fitted, took some cupboards down and put back up again, plaster is all lumpy and not finished properly as cupboards in way, electrics were also done after installation so run under cupboards, worktops not finished properly, upstands you can fit your finger behind. AVOID, a 2 week installation has turned in a nightmare, our dream kitchen is a disaster. We are also mocked by the TV advert, which is as far from our experience as could possibly be. I have begged customer service for a rescue plan, and even with a complaint, nothing has been done. No email plan, no phone plan NOTHING, they have taken our money and ran! I have already informed them we will pursue through legal channels and consumer rights programmes such as the one shows Watch Dog, or Rip Off Britian, we will also report to OMBUDSMAN. We have done NOTHING wrong and feel like we are being punished. Not one person has been able to help us. We have extensive photos all sent to CEO team, we also have security footage which we will use too. We will be further pursuing Wickes contractor though small claims court, for nonspecialist works, as its worse than before he started.
We have spoken to WREN to arrange for them to come out and quote to rip out the faulty leaking, shoddy, slapdash work that Wickes contractor has installed. And for them to quote to do the kitchen properly, as our ongoing situation has shown us we can't trust Wickes at all. PLEASE don't be caught out like us, we have saved for years and have wasted our money on a kitchen nightmare. We've had alsorts of work done, this has been the worst experience we or anyone we know has EVER had. We would have given minus stars if that option had been available, 1 star is far to generous! Thanks for your reply, however I just had a call that really makes no difference, as still no one is coming out to see the mess we are left with. I reiterated that unless there is significant movement by this Friday, we will be taking this further. As we have and are being treated appalingly.
UPDATE... 25/09/2026... There isn't one! Again nothing has happened, requests for installation manager to come and see the mess where our kitchen should be have gone unanswered. Only call was can we deliver some things in a couple of weeks and your fitter can come fit kickboards and do snagging. Our reply, how can you order anything when no ones been to see what we need AND who is the fitter? We have already stated we want a new fitter one who can do the job, as paid for and contracted. AND when are you removing all the rubbish you left down the side of our house! Gave till today for rescue plan, no fitter contact from Wickes. PLEASE learn from our mistake, get someone who can and will do the job professionally. Spoke to solicitor for our next steps, which we have forwarded Wickes about, but clearly even CEO complaints are ignored. Intresting fact once you escalate to OMBUDSMAN it costs Wickes money from the moment you open a case, we will be using this once we have started a complaint regarding Consumer Rights Act 2015. Even the person who replied to this did nothing, no follow up, just meaningless words.
Update 03/10/26. Still nothing no installation manager, no one reads the case, someone else replies with incorrect information. We have now been forced to seek further Legal Advice,& issue Wickes with a Letter before Action.
Unsurprisingly the lady who replied to this & said they were looking into it didn't. Had a report done this week and documented, 60+ significant issues. 4000 characters are not enough for this mess

A very well organised store with lots of staff to help. Shirley was extremely helpful mixing paint for me.
Also it's great news to receive a 10% discount on everything when you open a trade account.

Craig fully understood what I wanted to achieve. He helped me to sort our bathroom requirements and I shall continue to connect until our bathroom is complete

We were very impressed by the customer service Theo provided when we visited the Southport store. We were returning paint purchased the previous day and Theo was extremely helpful in sorting out the refunds and assisting with the purchase of alternative paint colours. It was only our second visit to the new Wickes store at Kew and it was a pleasure to be served by a pleasant and polite member of staff so we will definitely shop here again.

I went in to get timber, and mike who works there was so helpful. He helped me out to my car and did all he could to fit it in. Took the time and helped me till i had it all in. Nothing was to much trouble. Amazing service thank you

Helpfull staff loaded my van with a bargain of a dishwasher i noticed on the way the store just had to be baught massive saving, so happy chappy

On 3rd April 2026 we signed up with Wickes, Southport for a £25,000 kitchen plus extra £s for fitting, tiling and electrics which sum was to be agreed and paid separately to their designated fitter.
Our kitchen was eventually started on 22nd June 26 and now here we are 18th August 26 and it is still not finished.
We have had to chase every step to get anything done and the customer service department is completely ineffectual.
Once you’ve signed on the dotted line we feel you are no longer important.
Even emails to the CEO David Wood remain unanswered.
We are pensioners who have been camping in our own home for over 7 weeks with no water to the kitchen or cooking facilities.
We have now got water and can at least use the washing machine but still the hob isn’t connected due to a problem getting an electrician to fit a new main fuse board to accommodate all the new appliances. There is also still a list of items outstanding.
We have paid for all the fitting services in full and cannot understand how anyone can be expected to wait this long for completion.
Although we chase and chase we get nowhere.
Our recommendation to anyone who is looking to get a new kitchen is DO NOT TOUCH WICKES .
I can’t begin to describe what a terrible experience this has been and the toll it has taken on the two of us.
If I could give this review minus stars I would but you have to give at least one star to get it posted ! They definitely don’t even deserve one star.

Steve Ambler at Wickes Southport could not have been any more helpful in helping us design and order our new kitchen. Extremely knowledgeable, helpful and most of all patient during the number of times we changed our mind. Thanks to Steve and his hard work, we are looking forward to our new kitchen being installed soon

We made an appointment to have our bathroom designed with Antony at the Southport branch. Although we had some ideas of what we wanted for our bathroom, we wanted someone to suggest ideas to maximise our space within our budget, especially as this was our first bathroom renovation! Before our appointment Antony looked at our measurements and prepared a floorplan before our arrival. Antony listened to everything we wanted, made fantastic suggestions and put together a very comprehensive design for us. He was welcoming to us, polite, professional and came across as genuinely passionate for his job. We also liked how Antony didn't pressure us into making our decisions - he made it clear he was there if we had any questions, yet did not hassle us for our decision! Overall, a very pleasant experience and we would not hesitate to recommend him.
