Deeply Disappointed with Wickes Watford Bathroom Service

I genuinely don’t understand how this store continues to operate with such a staggering level of incompetence.

I booked a bathroom design appointment at Wickes Watford back in May. I was greeted by Shannon, who clearly had no intention of fulfilling the appointment — she rushed out the door, saying she was busy that evening. She promised to work on the design and send it to me the next day. I didn’t mind at first, but she didn’t even take notes during our meeting, which became painfully obvious over the following weeks as I chased her repeatedly for the design. After three weeks of silence, all she gave me was the manager’s email so I could ask someone else to do her job.

I had a very specific three-week window (end of August to early September) to get the bathroom installed due to personal circumstances. Thanks to Shannon’s social life, I was now in a time crunch.

Jamie, the store manager, passed me on to Ben. I made it crystal clear to Ben that if the bathroom couldn’t be installed within that three-week window, I’d have to postpone the entire project until winter or later. He assured me it would be fine. We finalised the design, and then Ben disappeared to Poland for a week and a half. When he returned, we confirmed everything, only to be told that none of the installers were available until after my deadline. They're now refunding me the whole 10k+ amount...because as I said, I would not be able to do this project unless it was in that window. They've wasted their time and money, and my time and money. For what? Like why do that?

It’s honestly baffling how a company can operate with such poor communication, broken promises, and zero accountability. This experience has been nothing short of embarrassing for Wickes. I won’t be recommending them to anyone.

Kirti was AMAZING! I was wandering around couldn’t find what I needed and she helped me get everything I wanted - brilliant!

Very good service from the staff. Management has been working extremaly hard to find a solution to any problem you might experience with deliveries or online orders.

Lovely experience

Ordered a door for delivery today. Yesterday the store phoned to say they only had one in stock and it was scuffed and as it’s classed as damaged they can’t pick it. They said they’d try and find another and get back to me. Today I had to call as I hadn’t heard from them and was informed by the incredibly rude manageress Michelle that I would have to pick up the door myself. After calling head office who promised to deal with it and get back to me, I find myself at 4.30pm back on the phone to customer services as I’ve heard nothing. Still holding. 30 minutes later. Zero customer service and I’m going to get a refund and use somewhere else. That’s the last time I go to Wickes for anything. Useless

I visited the Watford store as I wanted to order 40 packs of floor tiles. Before placing the order I wanted to make sure that all the packs will have the same batch number as recommended. Kirti was very helpful with my query and proposed purchase. She explained that Wickes cannot guarantee that all the tiles will have the same batch number as it depends on which nearest branch has the tiles in stock. She checked the system and discovered that Borehamwood had 32 packs in stock and these may all be from the same batch as a full pallet comes with 40 packs. This still leaves 8 packs which will come from a different branch and probably a different batch number. She said the only way to find out which nearest branch will be delivering is to place the order first after which she can see where the tiles will be coming from so I placed the order and paid for it. The system immediately responded to say that 12 packs will be coming from Hemel Hempstead and the remaining 28 packs will be coming from Chesham branch. Delivery was scheduled for the next day. Kirti explained that, following the delivery, if the batch numbers are different and we are not happy with the difference in shades then I could arrange to return the tiles for a full refund. This was reasuuring. Kirti was very helpful and patient throughout my long interaction with her discussing the dilemna of different batch numbers. I thanked her for all her help and patience.

A suggestion for Wickes to consider.
It would be very helpful if, in addition to the information about stock availability in a prticular Wickes branch, the infomation about the batch numbers is also recorded on the system to help both the staff and the customer know what the batch numbers are. This is a suggestion for Wickes to consider enhancing their systems and is not a reflection on customer service provided by Kirti.

Wickes Watford branch has been amazing in assisting me for my bathroom refurbishment . A special Thanks to Tom Collins who gave me great advice and helped pick the right products - I am very happy with the results . I would also like to thank the rest of the staff who made sure to assist me in loading my car and were just overall pleasant and customer friendly . Keep up the good work everyone .

I recently had my kitchen fitted in May and couldn’t be more pleased with the results. The fitter James Farr was professional, punctual, and incredibly skilled. The workspace was kept tidy and James communicated clearly throughout the process, making the whole experience stress-free. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and talented kitchen fitter.

Visited Wickes for help with a bathroom refit (design and installation). Our designer, Tom Collins, was excellent, he took us through options as part of the design and was patient and progressional throughout. Can’t thank him enough for his help. Really great.

Staff at store are extremely nice.. especially Sara that works on the till. She is always so friendly and I've never seen her with out a smile on her face...
Have had a couple of bad experience with the management at this store.. but the staff can not be faulted

Tom to the rescue! he went over and beyond to make sure my kitchen comes together.

The installation of my kitchen was undertaken by Lee Littlejohn, who did an amazing job. I am impressed by his attention to detail. Lee and his team accommodated my requirements without complaint and worked around a different electrician that I was using as part of a larger job, even though it caused some minor difficulties. Lee was also easy to contact and quickly dealt with snags at the end, such as a leaky sink overflow. The job was executed brilliantly overall.

Have been in store a couple of time recently and also had a couple of home deliveries, including one today.
Must say that I'm very impressed with both the instore and delivery experience.
We are renovating our house at the moment so spending a fair bit on bits for the house and garden.
Never had any issues with any of my purchases.
Had to return a cloakroom sink last week as it was slightly to big, this also went through without a hitch.
Keep it up Wickes.

I took back a couple of items to the Watford branch and Hannah went above and beyond to sort out my credits. Hannah was very friendly and helpful and checked the stock for a replacement timber shelf. I thoroughly recommend this store the staff and Hannah.

I had a genuinely lovely experience thanks to two exceptional members of staff. Kirti went above and beyond to help me locate an item. She stopped what she was doing and gave me her full attention, which I truly appreciated. Her dedication and willingness to help were remarkable.

At the till, I was served by Hannah, who was equally wonderful. Despite it being the end of the day, she was incredibly patient, cheerful and helpful throughout. It’s rare to receive such attentive service these days and both Kirti and Hannah deserve to be recognised for their outstanding customer care.

Thank you both, you made my visit a real pleasure!
