Refund regret
After we returned the car full of gas and in the same condition in which it was received, we were told our deposit of $250.00 would be returned within a week or two. The contract said they had up to 30 days. It has been almost 60 days and no refund. I have contacted them several times and the ask for identification numbers that are not on the contract or in any email correspondence. Still trying.
ZezGo charged inappropriate fees
ZezGo representative refused to provide a vehicle because I wouldn't pay for additional insurance coverage when I already had full coverage. I had to rent a vehicle from another company, and I lost the fee I already paid for the ZezGo vehicle. Worst car rental experience of my life.
AVOID! Bait and switch insurance scam
Reserved through Expedia. Arrived at the counter at ZezGo Car Rental at 4502 W Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Tampa. The customer in front of me was asked for insurance information. When they said that they had Hartford insurance, they were told that it wasn't accepted and that they'd need to pay $500 for insurance. They refused and left. My turn. They said that they DID accept Progressive, but when they looked at my declaration page stated that the $100,000 liability limit was too low, and that I, too, would need to pay $500 for insurance. I also left. This is a bait and switch insurance scam (if the money even actually goes for insurance).

Absolutely unacceptable experience with Zezgo Car Rental.
I was charged $119.96 for Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) that I explicitly declined. I already had coverage through Expedia, and my signed agreement clearly shows that I declined this insurance. Charging a customer for a service they refused is extremely concerning.
The employee at the counter was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. There was no proper explanation of charges, and the entire process felt rushed and misleading.
On top of that, I was hit with excessive add-on fees, including a daily toll charge and an outrageous refueling rate of $8.50 per gallon. None of this was clearly disclosed.
This experience felt deceptive and predatory. Customers should not have to double-check contracts to avoid being charged for services they declined.
I will be disputing these charges and reporting this issue. I strongly advise others to avoid this company.
ZezGo is a well-oiled scamming machine DO NOT USE!!
ZezGo is a well-oiled scamming machine; they attract customers with low rates and then force them to purchase additional services at the last minute when they are already at the airport for pick up and have no other choice - if they don't want to leave by foot.
Zezgo refused my Progressive car insurance even though it's local and transfers over to rental cars. ZezGo also refused to look at my second layer of coverage, from my credit card.
Weeks prior to my pickup date for the car I had managed to established contact with ZezGo via email, to verify if they would accept my insurance. They had asked me to send my documentation for review, which I did immediately (I sent my Declaration page + my credit card letter of coverage); and then they never responded, despite my many follow ups.
They deliberately kept me in the dark when I had enough time to cancel for a full refund and organize alternate plans for another rental car company.
ZezGo also tried to pressure us into paying for a daily fee of $15 + tax to use for their SunPass Transponder: they said otherwise we would be assessed a "charge by plate" fee for every toll + a penalty fee, if we did not use theirs. But when I declined and told them I had brought my own SunPass transponder, ZezGo said I actually could not use it because they already had one permanently installed in the car, and it was linked to its number plate.
So ZezGo was planning to hammer us with maximum fees & penalties on one hand, while paying regular SunPass fees on the other hand.
Not having a choice, we had to agree to pay for an obscure mandatory ZezGo additional insurance of ALMOST 3 TIMES the price we had already paid for the rental (so called "paid in full") on Orbitz months ago for our rental car; otherwise, as ZezGo employee stated plainly "you pay; or you walk".
Later, after returning the car (early, because we were tired of driving to avoid tolls), we filed a dispute with our credit card.
Unfortunately, since we had indeed "agreed" (or rather been forced to, since we had no other choice but to pay as we were in a remote location outside of Miami International Airport) to pay for the additional charges in person, ZezGo was able to get off the hook as the bank could not enforce the refund of the extra $$$$$ charged by ZezGo.
Despicable.
Hiden insurace fees
What a pain. First have to take shuttle from airport then when you get to place there is no physical person there. You have go into a box and wait 20 plus minutes for somone to show up on a screen. Finally get to talk to someone. Now the guy tells you that they will only maybe expect your insurance after they email you a form and you fill it out. This is there scam. By this point it has been 2 hours since got off plane and all you want to do is get car and start your vacation. Unless you want to waste no one knows how many more hours filling out forms and waiting for answer on if they will take your insurace you are forced to buy there insuarnce. After paying extra for insuance could have gotten a rental car at the airport and saved myself alot of hassle. Do yourself a favor and use a differt rental. I don't why expedia has this company as option.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!! Rude and unprofessional on the phone, they charged me for rental protection when I had already purchased the rental protection from Expedia, another 200$ on top of that. Rental place is about a mile away and you need to call them to pick you up for the vehicle. The tires on the car I rented were bald, and unsafe to drive especially in a big city. The battery died numerous times and had to call Triple A for assistance because the company did nothing to make the situation right. NO new rental was replaced, I ended up buying a portable battery charger that costed over 100$. Expedia should not have this company on there website. SCAM!!!

Car smelled like smoke, rude staff & music so loud in the front office area that you can barely hear the employee working there. Charged a $1000 deposit that would not be refunded for 5 to 7 days after returning the car. Charged an additional $90 for insurance that was already covered by my insurance company. They called this a loss of use insurance. If the car is returned back without any loss of use, you should get that money back. Total scam! Worst part is you have to take two shuttles to get to this place and then they basically hold you hostage there because you canât rent a car if you donât give them the money they ask for above and beyond what you already paid to Expedia.

I already booked collision and bumper to bumper coverage online and then they said they had to make their insurance join Expedias and charged me 450 dollars for the weekend. Prepaid for rental through Expedia. Upon arrival, the couple infront of us were being told that their insurance would not be accepted and they had to pay $400 for insurance. My husband and I have different car insurance companies and when it was our turn at the desk, we were told neither of our insurance companies would be accepted and we had to pay $280 for insurance. Beware. They will get you with hidden fees. Shame on Expedia for partnering with them. Car rental was not even on site of Tampa Airport. Silver lining was car was clean I guess.

I was charged $458 for "damages" on a car return in Ft Lauderdale that are completely fictitious. Car was returned in the same condition as when I received it. Agent receiving the vehicle acknowledged everything was fine during the return. Their vehicles are poorly maintained and the management is unscrupulous.
Zesgo has the worst customer experienceâŠ
I chose Zesgo because it was the cheapest option. It is very far from the airport. The price is low, but I received an empty gas tank at a rental car place. The representative was rude; he would rather be anywhere but work. If you want to save money, I still would not recommend Zesgo.

$1000 hold on a credit card when I have full coverage insurance and coverage through the credit card I am renting with is beyond ridiculous. The cost to waive it was cheaper than adding my wife as a licensed driver so we could put it on her card. This tacked on $100 for the waiver and then I had to pay another $111 dollars for a Sunpass for what was probably going to be $10 in tolls for the whole week or $25 for each toll that was passed through. Could not use our own Sunpass. Both together was $225 in extra fees after taxes and processing (who are you, Ticketmaster?) that were tacked on and were downright criminal. Bait and switch tactics that had me at a disadvantage since I was pretty much stuck at the rental location at that point. If the "advanced" check in was the e-mail that was received it is extremely suspicious and there is no way I would give the info required for that over the internet. If it's the booth in the location, where I was basically in a Zoom callm well that was downright horrible. Hard to to hear the agent and he was extremely abrasive. The booth was stuffy and hot, not even a fan. I was not shown to my vehicle, nor did anyone go over it with me to review the condition. I have the car fully photographed and video recording as well. I had to click the fob until I located the car. I even had to help the elderly couple who rode in the shuttle with us to get their key and find their car (by clicking the fob also.) The car was filthy. There was stuff all over the roof of the car, the driver's side floorboard was dirty and muddy. The interior windshield was filthy making it almost impossible to drive at night. The windshield wipers were terrible. I almost broke down and bought new ones so I could drive home the one night it rained while we were there, but I knew I wouldn't get reimbursed. Android Auto was disabled on the vehicle so I could not navigate using the dashboard display. I'm sure this was something they tried to upsell me on, but I declined. I could have rented a car from Dollar, Thrifty, or Enterprise actually AT the airport for what I was charged after the surprise fees. Also, the car would shudder and shake at stoplights. I made the receiving attendant, who was the only positive of the rental process, aware of this when I dropped the vehicle off. It was probably ignored.

Prepaid and booked entire trip on Expedia for Tampa. It was one of the only car rental places not located in the airport, that should have been my first sign that this company was bad. But then they asked what insurance I planned on using and I stated my car insurance. I have very good car insurance through State Farm that covers rental cars. They stated my car insurance was not good enough and I had to pay the 100$ deposit plus an additional $222.53 for the 3 days we had booked the car. Every time I tried to ask any questions of why or how this was legal, they would speak in another language to each other that I did not understand and not answer me. They showed me the paper on the desk that says what insurance you need in order to not need their insurance, and even that sheet was a scam. It says right on there, âyou cannot add this to your personal insurance, it has to be added 30 days prior to rental. BEWARE! This place is a scam! Even on here, Tampa Florida location isnât an option for review.

However, there was another company in the building and I got a car from them because I had no other choice! It was the same kind of car I had rented from Zezgo! Na Sixt recebi atendimento TOP e não tive nenhuma despesa adicional.
Na Zesgo no momento da retirada me informaram que o seguro não cobria a perda do carro e consequentemente não poderiam me entregar o carro se eu não fizesse um novo seguro para cobertura da perda total do carro.
Foram irredutÃveis, e FUI OBRIGADO a pagar o seguro, pois se não pagasse, eu não poderia retirar o carro e também perderia o valor pago quando da realização da reserva.
Entreguei o carro com tanque cheio e limpo, em condição melhor do que recebi, e ao final me debitaram em cerca de US$ 55.

On March 25, 2026, we rented a car through Expedia. The total price for the week was supposed to be $274. However, when we arrived to pick up the vehicle, we were told we had to pay a $1,000 security deposit, which was completely unexpected.
What made the situation even more concerning was that deposits seemed to vary randomly. Another couple there was only required to pay a $500 deposit, while a young woman at the counter was told she needed to pay $2,000. There did not appear to be any clear explanation for the differences.
In addition, we were charged over $100 for prepaid tolls, which we would not have come close to using during our trip.
We have rented cars many times and have never experienced deposits this high or inconsistent policies like this. Several other customers at the location also expressed similar frustrations while we were there.
Based on this experience, I would strongly advise others to be cautious before renting from this location and to carefully review all fees and deposit requirements in advance.
