With the physical shop having closed its doors some time ago and the number of items on the website slowly ticking down, I thought my buying days at WYC were over.

But having read reviews of an Olympus 100/2.8 vintage lens, I bought one but not from WYC. The review I took the notice of recommended using a Takumar 135 lens hood to tackle lens flare.

I remembered that WYC had one ages ago and so I bought it.

A little confusion was experienced over delivery resulting in me contacting WYC but all ended well.

Which of course customers like myself want to happen for each and every staff member at WYC.

You made it fun to part with money and I haven’t regretted any of my purchase from your shop.

Thank you all again. It’s a pity I can’t get to the shop for the final clear out which is happening as I type this - but I’m sure it will be packed with people buying and bidding farewell to everyone’s first choice of camera and photographic shop.

To the young girl that served my wife and I this morning, from the gentleman carrying the Fuji GA 645 W camera around his neck. Although you were initially friendly, protocol I guess. I did find it a little disconcerting and disappointing that today in 2024 people are still being profiled. Yes I felt profiled when buying my rolls of 120 film today and when you went to check for the filters I asked you for, you took the film from the counter when you left as though my wife and I were going to steal it. In the past 8-9 months I think I’ve spent several hundred pounds in the shop and wouldn’t consider myself or my wife’s appearance as resembling crackheads. We are maybe a little odd looking as we are almost in our 60’s but hey if we judge everyone by looking at them what a world we would live in, and to be honest you wouldn’t be able to tell if you were actually serving a customer that has worked and assisted on some of the worlds largest advertising projects or if you were actually serving a crackhead intent on robbing you. my wife and I don’t live in the country and every time we fly into the U.K. I make a point of passing by West Yorkshire Cameras. But todays experience has left me feeling I needed to get this incidence off my chest. I didn’t find you very helpful you seemed extremely judgmental and your presence at the counter wasn’t in line with the great service and treatment previously experienced. I therefore suggest you undertake some form of training or social awareness program as you are hindering the front of house operations of West Yorkshire cameras.

Just brilliant. Love the "proper cuppa" Yorkshire teabag included with order and the personal notes in the package. My one stop shop for "proper" photography essentials too.

Great shop great website helpful staff would recommend

The products I ordered were as good or better than described. I ordered a mamiya C330s with two lenses and expired film, the condition of the lenses and camera are superb leaving no room for concern. But I can rest easy knowing that there is a warinty included incase any faults do surface. Everything arrived in good time which is always nice for someone as impatient as me.

The attention to detail with their service makes them standout as with my order I received a letter with Yorkshire tea. Although I committed the cardinal sin of not being a tea drinker I still find the inclusion of Yorkshire tea to be very endearing and as a result the experience felt more personal.

The one criticism I have is with the expired film I purchased. The film was listed as expired, however there was no detail as to how long it had been expired for or how it had been stored in this time. I still bought it despite the lack of information but it would have been nice to have more details as it would have better informed my decision making process.

The young girl on the phone was bright cheerful and helpful...I asked for some more pictures via email and these were sent over soon after. I bought it then and there as been after one of these for years and about 5 days later received a well packaged in excellent condition Minolta ...The Yorkshire tea bag and hand written card included was a nice unusual touch. Love the camera Thank you

No but seriously, an excellent company to shop at. The Items I bought were a reasonable price and the delivery cost was ok.
My only gripe is with DPD, the delivery guy didn't deliver on the specified day and when he attempted the delivery on the next day, he rang the doorbell and just walked off without waiting for a response.
I think you need to speak to DPD as they affect your companies image.

By far and a way the most reliable source of used film and camera equipment that I have used in more than ten years of collecting. Friendly, approachable, honest staff (a camera once arrived broken and was replaced without quibble) and with excellent prices to boot. Items are dispatched quickly and are excellently packaged. And you get a nice note and a bag for a brew with each order!

They seem genuinely interested in keeping traditional photography alive by the range of items they stock especially for film photography a.k.a. analogue photography these days. Their communication style is friendly and they are obviously proud of their work and, in a more light-hearted way, of their Yorkshire roots. They processed my order very swiftly and though it was not a large amount included a tiny gift and a friendly note. I thought it was a pleasure to deal with them.

Buying secondhand online can be tricky, so accurate, honest descriptions are crucial. My experience of West Yorkshire Cameras is that their description of condition can be trusted, and – just as important – their packaging is exemplary. And delivery was, if anything, faster than I expected. So full marks.

Everything about the order was handled with no fuss.

West Yorkshire Cameras delivered a lovely Vintage camera which I will gift to my nephew.

Dan was extremely helpful guiding me through the camera's functions as obviously there is no instruction book when the camera was made in 1920!

Price was right the description was inaccurate Bought a lovely Meopta Flexaret TLR cameras which looked and worked fine except for the 35mm part which didn't work at all, in Al fairness without the adapter kit they would be unable to test this ability and I fortunately had a replacement back door so all is fine. But I do expect a seller of repute to mention this and I do expect a response from their customer services when emailed about this problem an apology in either the chosen Yorkshire dialect or English would have done
I do believe this was an oversight due to lack of knowledge of the particular camera but there is a thing called Google and camera-Wiki. org I don't think they were trying to con me or mislead me in way.

Very fast dispatch and shipping, even though I ordered during the Christmas/NY period. This particular lens hood was the only reasonably priced example on the entire internet.

Internet purchase of camera, calibrator and films over Christmas and all arrived on time and well packed. A small mix-up with one film not being despatched was corrected immediately.

I’ve bought before and will buy again from WYC.
