Useful service, easy to use.

How has nobody thought of this sooner?
I live hundreds of miles away from my parents, and there’s always one question in the back of my mind. Is everything okay back home? With YODO, I don’t have to wonder anymore. A quick check-in tells me everything’s okay. If something ever happens to me, they’ll know too.

Life just feels a little easier because of that.

YODO is a thoughtfully designed approach to a sensitive subject focusing at one of life's most significant and challenging moments. Through regular check-ins the app helps you stay connected to your loved ones during difficult times, while also providing a way to share meaningful messages with them when you are no longer there. In doing so YODO becomes a platform that embraces both life and death with compassion, care and connection.

The unusual problem with reviewing a service like YODO — You Only Die Once — is that, if it ever works exactly as intended, the customer is unlikely to be available to update Trustpilot afterwards. So I can only review the living-user side of the experience, which thankfully is the part I am currently qualified to comment on.

I am using the service and have found it very well designed, thoughtful and easy to understand. The concept is simple but genuinely important: you can set up check-ins, nominate trusted people to be alerted if something seems wrong, and prepare messages or instructions to be released to the right people if the worst happens. It is not a replacement for a will, lawyer, emergency service or proper estate planning, but it is a very useful and human complement to all of that.

The team behind it is professional, responsive and helpful, and the service feels like it has been built with real care rather than as a gimmick around a sensitive subject.

One aspect I think is underappreciated is the strange but real comfort it can give while you are still very much alive. There are things many of us want to say but do not say — to a parent, a sibling, a child, a friend, someone estranged, someone we love, or someone with whom life has become complicated. Sometimes saying it now may feel impossible, premature, disruptive or simply too difficult. Knowing that there is at least a structured way for that message to reach them one day gives a quiet form of solace.

In that sense, YODO is not only about death. It is also about reducing the living person’s anxiety that something important may remain forever unsaid. For roughly the cost of a single therapy session, you can cover a year or two of a service that may give you something quite powerful in return: a sense of internal resolution, emotional tidiness and quiet reassurance. In some cases, the solace of knowing that the right words will eventually reach the right person may be worth far more than one more hour spent talking about why they remain unsaid.

A clever, humane and very worthwhile service. Five stars — with the sincere hope that I will not be able to test the final feature personally for a very long time.

Great idea for an app and something that can bring real peace of mind for the families. The UI is clean and easy to use and I especially liked the highlighted walkthrough guide that made getting started simple and intuitive. Great UX.

I have been impressed by YODO. First, it addresses a real and deeply human need that no other app has meaningfully touched. Second, the app works very smoothly and is truly well thought-out. Crucially, I find it hugely important that the company takes such good care of issues of security and privacy. Highly recommended to people who care about their loved ones after the inevitable happens..

A much-needed application, especially in today’s society, with so many people who live alone, regardless of their age group. A very well-thought process, easy to set-up, even if you are not tech-savvy, with step-by-step guidance and the option to add more information at your pace.

Ich finde die Idee hinter der y.o.d.o. sehr gut. Sie hilft dabei, über Themen nachzudenken, die man im Alltag oft verdrängt – wie Vorsorge und der Umgang mit dem Lebensende.

Nach der Geburt meines Kindes habe Ich Komplikationen erlebt. Es hätte sehr schnell mein Leben beenden können. Zum Glück ist alles gut ausgegangen.

Seit diesem Ereignis beschäftigen mich immer wieder Gedanken über die Endlichkeit des Lebens – früher sehr stark mehrmals am Tag, inzwischen (nach etwa 5 Jahren) etwas seltener. Besonders in Situationen wie beim Reisen im Flugzeug oder Schiff denke ich darüber nach: Was wäre, wenn mein Leben plötzlich endet? Wann und wie würden meine Hinterbliebenen davon erfahren? Und was denken meine Angehörigen in so einem Moment?

Auch der Gedanke, dass Eltern älter werden, beschäftigt mich. Man ruft häufiger an oder schreibt, um sicherzugehen, dass es ihnen gut geht. Diese Gedanken zeigen mir, wie wichtig Sicherheit und Verbindung zwischen Menschen ist.

Inzwischen bin ich alleinerziehende Mutter. Auch wenn ich Familie, Freunde und ein soziales Umfeld habe, gibt mir diese App ein starkes Gefühl von Sicherheit. Ich weiss, dass im Ernstfall wichtige Menschen informiert werden und ich selbst die Möglichkeit habe, Nachrichten, Bilder oder Videos für meine Liebsten vorzubereiten.

Ich kann inzwischen regelmäßig festlegen, ob es mir gut geht, und habe das Gefühl, mehr Kontrolle und Ruhe zu haben. Gleichzeitig kann ich bestimmen, welche Nachrichten meine Liebsten im Ernstfall irgendwann erhalten würden.

Wir beschäftigen uns oft zu spät oder gar nicht mit solchen Themen.

Deshalb danke ich für die Inspiration und die Umsetzung dieser Idee.

Man labai patinka y.o.d.o idėja. Ji padeda susimąstyti apie temas, kurių kasdienybėje dažnai vengiame – apie planavimą ir gyvenimo pabaigos klausimus.

Po gimdymo patyriau komplikacijų, kurios galėjo labai greitai baigtis mano gyvenimu. Laimei, viskas baigėsi gerai.

Nuo to laiko mintys apie gyvenimo trapumą ir nenuspėjamumą mane vis dar aplanko. Iš pradžių jos kildavo kelis kartus per dieną, dabar – po maždaug penkerių metų – rečiau. Ypač keliaujant lėktuvu ar laivu kartais pagalvoju: kas būtų, jei mano gyvenimas staiga pasibaigtų? Kada ir kaip apie tai sužinotų mano artimieji?

Taip pat galvoju apie tai, kad tėvai sensta, o mes dažnai jiems skambiname ar rašome tik tam, kad įsitikintume, jog jiems viskas gerai. Tai parodo, koks svarbus yra žmonių saugumas ir ryšys.

Dabar esu vieniša mama. Nors turiu šeimą, draugus ir palaikymo ratą, ši programėlė man suteikia stiprų saugumo jausmą. Ir labai patinka mintis kad per y.o.d.o. mano artimieji gali būti informuoti, jei kas nors nutiktų, ir kad aš pati galiu iš anksto paruošti jiems žinutes, nuotraukas ar vaizdo įrašus.

Mes dažnai apie tokius dalykus susimąstome per vėlai arba visai jų vengiam.

Yodo is a very of the most thoughtful digital Services that I have come around. The use is very easy, even for people with limited digital experience and it provides an assurance that you are not alone!!

Great idea for your loved ones

I’ve been using Y.O.D.O. and it’s honestly one of the most thoughtful services I’ve come across. The check-ins are simple but really reassuring, and setting up messages for loved ones gives me a genuine sense of peace of mind. It’s easy to use, feels very secure, and just works quietly in the background. I’d strongly recommend it to anyone—it’s a brilliant idea done really well!

Very useful app! You can never know, what will happen tomorrow… I have a brain condition, had a surgery and the tumor may grow back again. I can feel safe everyday. And if there is no tomorrow, all my loved ones will get all the essential information ❤️

I have used Y.O.D.O. as one of the first people on the platform, and I think it serves a great purpose. It was easy for me to add delegates and also be a delegate myself. I chose a frequency for check-ins that works for me and if I ever missed a check-in one of my delegates was quick and kind in reaching out. I also found the notice to check on my delegates pleasant. It is a way to feel more connected to the people you care about and assure them you will be there when and if they need you.

I find Yodo one of the most thoughtful and meaningful services I have come across. The concept is simple yet powerful: regular check-ins that help ensure the people who matter most are not left wondering if something has happened to you, while also providing a secure way to leave important messages for loved ones. The service is designed around privacy, trust, and care, with clear verification processes and strong attention to accessibility and data protection.
