Decided to give the trial a go
Decided to give the trial a go. Signing up was easy, as was placing my first order. Delivery was on time. Contents of the box could have been packed with more care - loads of ice packs in one level of the box but barely any near the top.
The meals themselves were… ok. I didn’t particularly enjoy any of them but nor were they bad. Just a bit bland.
What was very bad was halfway through the week finding a large piece of chicken in a meal that was basically raw in the middle. I suspect the chicken was supposed to be sliced evenly to prevent this. But in my case it wasn’t, and I had other meals throughout the week with large chunks of chicken I wasn’t sure to trust.
After that I decided not to continue my subscription. Prep Kitchen try a few dark UX patterns to try and prevent you from cancelling your subscription. They make it much easier to ‘pause’ your plan, and when you do find the cancellation section they style their UI so that you are more likely to click ‘do not cancel’. They also make you go through three sections before finally cancelling the subscription. Left a poor taste - if you stand by the quality of your service, you shouldn’t need to do that.
