Allow me to throw my hat into the proverbial ring here. As a person who has been repeatedly screwed over by this terrible subpar delivery company I can quite frankly say every 1 star review here is true... I wish we could rate it 0.
Where to begin. Ah.
There are 4 instances where I have had the displeasure of using Hermes "service" dunno if I'd call it that "lack of service" feels more apt.
The first was a games delivery I was waiting for (hoping to see it before the weekend). I was tracking the delivery on my phone only to track it driving by my house after clearly making no effort to find my residence. There was no contact information and I was fuming as I had to wait another week to play the damn game (as I don't play during the week).
The second was their attempt to deliver goods to my place of employ which they simply could not find. They ended up delivering it to the wrong address and my co-workers had to go out of there way to find where it had been left (up the road ironically). After a second order they located the first waiting a few weeks for the whole mess to get sorted out... Classic
The third was a dress my mother ordered, took a while for it to be delivered we had no tracking information and only heard it had been delivered through a terrible low res phone snap the driver made on his phone without any details around it... just a floor snap of a parcel so we couldn't even identify where the picture was taken... We suspect the driver took it home snapped a picture on their drive way and tried it on themselves. Again got the money refunded and the second parcel was sent via another delivery method - ironically they found our address with no issues.
Next, big number 4 which happened recently and the reason I'm leaving this review. One Pound Sweets (a company shilling for Hermes and badgering customers via their trust pilot reviews) took umbrage with my request that they discontinue their association with Hermes for a better rating.
It doesn't matter that I haven't been able to try their sweets because Hermes seem to think I live in Bobbing despite the fact I called them and told them the postcode was wrong. Despite the fact that I never typed it out wrong and had to prove it to One Pound Sweets who then suspiciously went quiet after I asked for an apology from them for sticking up for this quite frankly terrible courier "service".
It doesn't matter that I called to rectify it, the fact I had to go out of my way to source Hermes telephone number as their contact information takes you to their rather useless support bot.
It doesn't matter that they required a 48 hour turnover to rectify a mistake I didn't make (one which more then elapsed before they got back to me). A mistake which despite their assertions that my package has been delivered "to a neighbour" is still not in my hands nor is it - "with my neighbour". it doesn't matter that they kept saying they couldn't deliver this parcel due to road closures because what? They couldn't find another road? Or maybe its because they are still trying to deliver it to the wrong bloody address...
Ultimately their service is poor and for some reason they are on most major online retailers lists (with the exception of Amazon). I don't understand why because any and all experience I have had with them is bad. If I ask a person about their experience with Hermes its always bad. How can a company keep failing to meet their obligations and still be in business?
It cant be good for online sellers if a rather high percentage of their orders have to be reissued because Hermes drivers cant, wont or don't want to understand or even search for an address (sat-nav or otherwise).
How can they keep making these mistakes when every other delivery entity in the UK finds my address... with NO ISSUES WHAT SO EVER? How? I don't understand why this company is still being used by any business that wants to consider themselves dependable.
Every time I checked my delivery this time round I just rolled my eyes and realised I should have paid the extra for a DPD delivery (even though it was like £10.00) at least I would have got it on time and would not be blamed by ignorant online businesses who flagrantly spout Hermes BS company line that they
"successfully deliver millions of parcels everyday and the biggest brands in the UK"
If they do where are they? point me to the positives in this sea of negative 1 star ratings.
As a side note don't ever pull One Pound Sweets about their delivery policies or make the mistake of believing they give a crap about their customers opinions.
My opinion? Hermes is used because its cheap (it must be paying people to use it or charging next to nothing to stay in the running). That's the only thing that really makes sense here.
Never use them, just pay for the more expensive options. You will thank yourself in the long term.

Honestly? A shambles. I wanted some sweets to be delivered before my co-worker left my company. No such luck because Hermes is the worst company in the world and cant deliver to my address. I ordered these sweets 1 week ago at the time of talking and paid to get them within 1-2 days.
First of all don't put Hermes down as a delivery option. I'm sick of every online seller using this terrible company when they never deliver on time (or without excuse after excuse).
I still don't have my sweets and I don't expect to see them. Not that it matters now because its too late. I hope your service does well and I hope its good (not that I know because I still have not tried your sweets because Hermes cant deliver 2 bags of sweets within 2 days).
Next time I will pay the extra for DPD or another company and if Hermes is down as the only delivery option I simply wont order.
Please remove them from your list of couriers. If you do that I'll leave you a review with 3 stars because we need to stop this company or have it reformed with competent management and staff.
Edit 07/11/2021. Without the ability to reply I have to add this addendum here. Amazon DO NOT outsource their deliveries to Hermes (I know because my Nephew was an Amazon delivery driver, that and I've never not received an Amazon package) unless they put extra effort into Amazon deliveries (a.k.a "standard" effort and not "0" effort). I've never used Smyths or John Lewis for delivery so no idea how true that is.
My personal experience with the company has been laughable. They couldn't find my companies work address and delivered it to the wrong place. They have driven by my house before (despite being nearby) and opted to not even try to find my house, my mother ordered a dress and they took a laughable screen shot on SOMEONES drive (not ours) for which we had to get a refund and now this.
All the while EVERY other courier finds my address with no issues. Every person I have spoken to about them considers them the most useless delivery service. Are they all lying? Explain that to me and I will agree Hermes is a competent company.
Edit 07/11/2021 2. I am sorry that I have made you feel like it is you I am mad at. I am not. Had I been able to talk about your business (if my order had arrived) it would be based on the service you provide (sweets) and I know you dispatched it but I simply haven't had any of your sweets. So how can I talk about them?
That's the problem I cannot attest to your business only to know that you use Hermes. A company that has repeatedly let me down. I merely question your association, when everyone I talk to about it have nothing good to say.
I wish your company the best. I had hoped that you could read from the title of my review that my issues stem from Hermes and your association with them. Alas it is also on me as I chose to roll the dice on them again only to realise I should just spend more money for delivery and go with DPD to ensure I get what I pay for. Rest assured I wont be making that mistake again.
I have a pre-order due to be delivered by Hermes in February of next year. I'm cancelling that now to change courier or cancel the order. This is the last time I ever buy something they deliver.... cuz they are clearly not up to it.
Lastly my location being remote is immaterial when EVERY other delivery entity finds my place fine. Hermes are the only ones who cant. Thats the truth of the matter and the very issue.
Edit 07/11/2021 3. Got contacted by "someone" over at One Pound Sweets (too cowardly to mark their emails with a name). Quite salty that I gave them a 1 star review when its ALL I can grade them on as I cant rate them on sweets because Hermes once again has failed to deliver a package.
One Pound Sweets Instead took to blaming me for their bad service and went as far as sticking up for Hermes. They then showed "proof" (a screen grab of the address their system has) that I entered my details wrong which I countered with a screenshot of the confirmation email I got upon purchase which clearly shows my address was correct when I issued the order.
Classic sign of a good company - to blame the customer. I asked for an apology but I don't think I'll see it, they strike me as quite petty and grudge bearing. Even though my feedback was mainly based on their decision to use Hermes which I have only ever had bad experiences with.
You could say the choice I made when picking a delivery method was partially on me and your right but I cant rate myself (and if I did I'd give myself a scathing review believe me). Hermes always shirks responsibility asking the customer to go back to the store of purchase....
So that's where this has landed. I cant rate your sweets (cuz I haven't eaten any) I can rate your delivery method and service which now with your company trying to blame me... is poor. Congratulations.
