Really good hands on practice. Shane did a good mix on theory and practice and left space for anyone who’d want to practice it in their own profession. Would definitely recommend!

Shane has a great way of teaching. His communication of information was excellent and he made the course both interesting and fun . I would highly recommend this course 👌

Good talk with Shane. Made the experience feel quite easy. Within a couple of hours we were able to climb and belay.

hands-on learning approach in supportive enviroment

Excellent combination of theory and a hands-on approach. Shane our instructor was very thorough with all the information and applied plenty of practical examples where we had to react to emergency situations. These were great as it puts the knowledge into practice and makes it much easier to remember.
Shane was very supportive from start to finish and created a very relaxed environment for the whole group. I would have no problem recommending this course to anyone.

Highly recommended!

ABP Training covers a range of areas and provides courses in first aid, mental health and the great outdoors. I recently signed up for “Sofa to Summit” a 10 week step by step programme covering hikes in the Dublin and Wicklow mountains. This was led by it’s wonderful organiser Shane who was our very friendly, approachable and helpful guide. No matter what level you are at starting out, you are sure to gain knowledge, friends and a greater love for the outdoors.

Excellent guide and varied hikes!

I have been doing Sofa to Summit with Shane and I’m really enjoying it. Shane is an excellent guide and is always happy to share his knowledge and experience. He is so friendly and such a genuine person. As a result, there is a lovely atmosphere among the group. The hikes are varied and progress weekly so you continually feel challenged. I look forward to it every week!

Sofa to summit very well planned and


Sofa to summit very well planned and done at a pace that allowed for enjoying the scenery. Shane is a good guide and very welcoming. I loved the 'achievement' every week. I look forward to completing it and highly recommend Shane and sofa to summit for great exercise, fresh air and mental health benefits

Fantastic company

Great experience today in the Dublin


Great experience today in the Dublin Climbing centre with Shane from ABP, Coming from a complete beginner I would highly recommend intro to climbing with Shane, very professional and friendly, we had just over 2.5 hrs on the walls which flew in, great exercise and great to meet lovely like minded people , looking forward to doing again soon
