Simply awful . Very rude incompetent consultants .

I have had a very bad experience with Academics. They sent me for whole day trial in school and I covered as a class teacher but I told them that I want to work as a teaching assistant. I worked hard and spend whole day in school but they haven't paid me. This is unfair and unacceptable. I knew school paid them for trial but they lied to me that we offered them for free trial. I'm still waiting but they haven't contacted me again for any job vacancy.

Three stars solely because I really enjoy the school they found and they are understanding about availability. However, I’ve had lots of issues with pay and was getting under paid for a period of time only to be told that they would continue to add it to my next weeks pay check. Additionally, there was a week (before half term) here I did not get paid for it at all, and again was told they would put it on next weeks pay check leaving me without pay for two weeks. This week it seems I’ll be left without pay again as I was never sent a timesheet to fill out. There also seem to be a few communication issues, my point of contact is lovely but I find myself constantly checking to see if she’s received my emails as I rarely get responses unless I text. Overall, they found a great school for me but I think there’s quite a few issues which need to be worked out.

Would rate 0 if I could. They over paid me without my knowledge and submitted a time sheet for days I didn’t work on my behalf again without me knowing, they then started to take money off of my pay when I was working to pay off this ‘debt’ when I took this to them they blamed me and insisted I paid £204 to them or they would take me to court. I’m a 22 year old trying to find her way through a cost of living crisis and was threatened with court action for money they wrongfully paid as I was on universal credit and all my finances went through them.

Started off great finding me work.
Unfortunately, something better came up with better pay.
Still waiting for wages to be paid in arrears.
Zero contact not very professional.
Looking to take legal advice.

Disgraceful company, sent a P45 whilst winning an SSP dispute they were told to pay after they appealed are their appeal declined, they then lied on my P45 on my end date, this meaning I am without money that they owe. You are a number not a person to them, avoid at all costs

I did not have a good experience with Academics. The person who was meant to process my DBS application just disappeared, I tried contacting them, but no response.
After a few months of waiting, I contacted Academics to see what was going on, only to find that my DBS application, which I paid for and put a lot of time gathering ID for, was not processed at all.
The guy was really apologetic and refunded me straight away. But I feel like I wasted a lot of time, effort, and money (I had to pay for some ID documents as they need a lot of documents for the DBS check.)

James Mcvicar was so helpful with helping me find my role perfect LSA role. He was very friendly and gave perfect advice that helped me so much to prep for my interview and what to expect when I started my assignment. He was incredible in keeping me upto date with every step and making everything as stress free as possible. Such a positive experience and i highly recommend him!

After over two months of being with the agency, they’ve only given me one meeting at a school since I became a Teaching Assistant with the agency. I pressed how I’m on Universal Credit and need a job asap and was comforted by Hamzah and Elizabeth that the agency have lots of roles going and that it was their job to get one for me, so no worries. I moved to London for over a month and told Hamzah and Liz in advance when I was going to be in London, for how long, and available for meetings with vacancies at schools asap. Only one meeting was arranged. It was rescheduled for the following week literally as I got onto the train (from my home in Sunderland to London) the day before the meeting was supposed to happen, meaning if they had communicated with me properly and in advance, I would’ve just moved my train dates to the next week. The only meeting that got arranged was double the amount of maximum travel time I continuously told Hamzah and Liz. I rely on public transport and I am new to the London area so I requested that the schools please be a maximum 45 minutes away from my address. The only meeting I got in two months from Hamzah and Liz was over an hour and a half away. The meeting went well and I waited over two weeks for news regarding whether or not I was successful. Liz then bluntly told me over email she was waiting for ME to call her and ask if I was successful, and then told me the position had already been filled. Therefore I had spent a two weeks waiting to hear back with no communication from Liz nor were any other meetings scheduled. The headteacher had informed me I was suitable for three positions at the school and have emailed Liz asking about the other two positions or any other meetings set up for me, once again I’ve had no response. Such a terrible agency I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. They spam you with calls several times a day, every time you email them they email back saying to call them instead, so you never actually get a proper response over email. When you do have time to call them, the calls are so simple that they mays well have been done over email. Really no point in being redirected to a phone call every time you email them to then just get a blunt response on the call, mays well just email instead of spamming constantly. They call you while you’re carrying out whatever task they’ve given you, making it frustrating and hard to get whatever they want done. Furthermore, they ignore whatever personal issues you may have that could mean why you can’t call. Despite me saying several times I’m available via email more than I am over the phone, they still called me several times and would not give me any information or response if I said I wasn’t available to call, meaning I consistently had to drop everything just to call them. I’m still without a job and I’m still on universal credit following the completely unprofessional experience I’ve had with Academics Ltd, they’ve not helped me get a job and completely wasted over two months of my time. If I went with a different agency I’d probably have a job by now. Also they’re an agency and even a school complained to me how expensive and money grabbing they are? All the agency does is advertise and schedule a meeting with a school and they take a large cut of your pay and charge the schools quite a lot anyway, when they’re simply the ones doing the less work out of the three. Such a disappointing and unprofessional experience working with Academics Ltd, go to a different agency.

I had a really good experience with Eleanor in Guildford. She was extremely quick to respond and personally answered all of my questions and walked me through the administration process. She explained all the steps very clearly and I felt supported throughout, with clear tasks that were outlined and a list of all the vacancies that apply to me in the area. I felt that I knew where I was in the process and the schools I was applying to were always promptly contacted on my behalf about my availabilities for interviews and any questions that I had. I now have my graduate employment secured and am very appreciative of the 1-to-1 help, thank you!

Clare at the Doncaster branch was amazing. Worked for Academics for just over a year, the only reason I left was because a job came up that I couldn't miss out on!
Never pressured into anything, understood your reasons for not going to a particular school. I didn't even need to apply to other agencies, I broke contact with the rest and permanently worked with Academics.
Good rate of pay- compared to other agencies, Clare looks after you (and the whole team) are polite, professional and have your best interests at heart.
Give Academics a go, you won't regret it. I recommend everyone that's asks about supply, to go with these guys.

Application was submitted in September, it is now December. I paid for the DBS and submitted all necessary documents. No follow up by the agent, and no response to my emails. The last contact was on 5/10/22.

Update: It appears that my issue is related to the individual agent. My complaint has now been looked into and my application is slowly starting to move again. Hopefully, all will be resolved soon.

When the chips are down for whatever reason, you need to know your employer has your back: Academics Ltd, Doncaster certainly has. The manager, her staff and their work ethics are faultless; work is offered with discussion and never pressure and the rate of pay is excellent. I no longer work for any other agency as none provide the level of commitment to its employee like they do.

Joined the agency, never been short of work. Yasmin Boffa has always been understanding to any needs and concerns of mine. Always checks in making sure I have enjoyed my school experience and will find long-term positions in a school where you are happy and enjoying yourself. Highly recommend Academics to anyone looking for long-term or short-term work!

They were efficient, friendly, and I felt completely supported throughout my time with Academics, particularly with Dale. I cannot recommend enough to anyone who is wanting to go into teaching.
