Acorns To Oaks is an online primary school providing high quality online education to students internationally. We take pride in providing students with ongoing support, and giving them the confidence to excel and succeed in their studies. We offer live classroom lessons online for a wide variety of subjects at a KS1 and KS2 level. Our state of the art online learning platform also provides students with on demand lessons and their timetables.

Very positive learning environment

Our Dutch children have been attending the English and Maths classes at Acorns to Oaks for the past two months. Although English is not their native language, the team has done an excellent job helping them settle into the lessons in a comfortable and supportive way.

The classes are small, with only 6–8 children, which allows for plenty of personal attention. The teachers encourage participation in a friendly and positive manner, helping the children build confidence step by step. After only a few lessons, they felt comfortable enough to contribute in class, and now they even ask about their lessons during the weekend!

The progress they have made in such a short time is remarkable. After just two months, they are already able to follow most of the lessons almost independently. Thank you, Acorns to Oaks, for creating such a positive learning environment. We are confident that our children will develop excellent English skills with your support.

We are very grateful to Acorns to Oaks for their support, professionalism, and caring approach throughout our child’s education journey.

The teachers and staff have always been responsive, understanding, and supportive, especially during periods of transition and travel for our family. Communication was always clear, and the school provided a positive and flexible learning environment.

As a former employee

If you’re reading this review as a parent considering enrolling your child, I can say with complete confidence that the teachers and support staff are excellent. The educators consistently go above and beyond for their students, creating a positive online learning environment supported by strong educational practices and a team that is always willing to assist.

However, if you’re reading this as a potential teacher or staff member, I recommend proceeding with caution. While the pay is competitive, there is no written contract provided, and communication around performance and improvement is largely top-down. Even when communication is maintained, job security remains uncertain. Teachers are classified as “independent contractors,” which means services can be terminated without any severance or compensation, regardless of additional time or effort invested.

That said, the students and parents are incredibly supportive and a genuine pleasure to work with.

We would also like to clarify a few points for families who may read this review:

At our school, all educators—whether employees or independent contractors—receive ongoing guidance, feedback, and support to help them meet our academic and classroom standards. We follow a consistent review process and provide multiple opportunities for improvement whenever concerns arise. Ending a contract is extremely rare for us; in fact, this was the first time in many years of operation that we needed to do so.

We made this decision only after extensive communication and after determining that we could not ensure the level of instruction and consistency that our families expect and that our curriculum requires. Our priority is always the quality of education and the well-being of the students in our care.

We appreciate the opportunity to clarify this, and we remain committed to maintaining transparency, high teaching standards, and a positive, supportive experience for all students and parents.

What a lovely little school

What a lovely little school. My kids are in love with the teachers and are so excited to take part. The teachers are wonderful, patient and keep the kids engaged.
I cannot recommend this school enough. My oldest will attend their partner secondary school next year, and will even get to keep some of the teachers.
Definitely a bonus that class sizes are really small, behaviour is managed increadibly well, disruptions rare and communication superb.
