Warning to Others ⚠️
Do not buy anything from this company. Not only do they take forever to ship your merchandise, but they also continue charging your card $29.99 every month without authorization — until you notice it. And when you do catch it, they refuse to refund the money.

What a total RIP OFF and SCAM, not only did I pay to the scrubs but was charged another $102 for a subscription I never signed up for. They won’t refund my money either. No not buy from this company.

Got my order. A month later I see another charge for $30. I email immediately and am told that I "signed up" for a membership with my original purchase. I did not do so knowingly. They are telling me I cant get a refund because of their return policy.

I am reporting them to my bank. This company is fraudulent and shady. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!

Also, the authentic "African" sponge came from China -_-

UPDATE: After telling them that I had begun to dispute the charge with my bank they magically were able to process a refund despite their "return policy". Don't give these folks your money.

This company has been taking $29.99 from my account every month since July 2025 for a subscription I NEVER signed up for. On top of that, they added international transaction fees each time.

When I tried calling the telephone number posted on their website, my calls were dropped after selecting each prompt. I finally got in touch with someone via email and they only refunded the subscription charges — but not the international fees that their unauthorized billing caused. That means I’m still out money because of THEIR mistake.

This feels like a scam operation. Be warned: even if you manage to get a refund, you may not get all your money back. I would strongly advise avoiding Afroscrub and protecting your financial information.

This is a scam! Same as all of the below reviews - I did not sign to to any subscription but they started taking regular payments from my account.

Scammers. When you purchase they sign you up to a 'membership'. This is not mentioned at checkout (unless small print) or in the order confirmation email. Afroscrub have taken £23 a month for 3 months (this is when I noticed the payments going out) and I have not received anything in exchange for my payments. The sponge is nice but not £85 nice!!!!

Like everyone else has said it a F$&king scam. I’ve disputed my 2nd unauthorised payment and the dirty scammers have now tried with a 3rd attempt to get another $48.00 from my account. Can you tell that I’m pissed off 😡?

I ordered 2 Afroscrubs and some soap. I didn’t realise it was some sort of subscription. I got charged again at a later date so I’m not happy. It doesn’t make sense that it would be a subscription when you only need one scrubber. 👎🏻

I received the items I ordered. The shipping took extremely long. started receiving a recurring $29.99 charge. I contacted the company. They said it was for a subscription that I signed up for. I did not sign up for a subscription. I requested that they cancel the subscription and refund me for the two back to back charges. They agreed to cancel the subscription but would not refund the charges. Instead, they avoided the request for a refund and several emails, redirecting me to discounts and percentages off my next order. I emailed them several times and let them know that I will be filing with my bank. Today, my bank shutdown my account due to fraudulent activity by Afroscrub! Although the product was worth it, the fraudulent activity with funds, and the lack of transparency is not. I would order somewhere else.

I bought four sponges from AfroScrub. They were too small in size and rather soft with limited scrubbing quality - unlike as portrayed in adverts. What irked me the most was two further fraudulent deductions totalling £48 that the company took from my bank account. My bank advised that the payments were subscriptions that were inserted into my order that I knew nothing about. I called their number but it wasn’t answered. I have since complained by email and asked for a refund. From other reviews, I have no hope of getting my money back. Don’t order from AfroScrub!

I had a similar experience. I paid for 2 scrubs and it took several weeks to receive them. Then I noticed several charges on my card with no receipt of any goods. When I called the number on the website, a recording answered and I was transferred to an extension and the service hung up. I am outraged that Apple Pay allowed subsequent payments without it being identified as a subscription. Be weary on what you buy on the internet!

UPDATE: I threatened to go to my bank and tell them that they are scammers. Within 30 minutes I had an email reply advising they will be refunding me and then 24 hours later I had a full refund in my account.

I got scammed too ... a month after my purchase I was charged NZ$52 for some membership I never agreed to and, when I emailed them, they refused to refund me.

This company is a fraud! I’ve been charged FOUR times and received nothing! With monthly subscriptions, the customer should be receiving products they pay for monthly. Asked for a refund and no response. Buyers beware.

What went wrong was that I’m being charged a monthly fee of twenty nine dollars which I didn’t authorize. Your ad is misleading the public into some sort of subscription service. I checked my credit card balance and noticed that they charged my account three months in a row. They further mislead the customer to think that the product is authentically African in origin. Such a huge scam. I’m very angry that I’ve lost money that I might never recover.

Brought the products in June, took ages to arrive and isn’t all that… also came from china despite supposedly coming from “ethically sourced African nettinng”
Then the company takes you to another company name - get glownetic or similar. They sign you up for a subscription without telling you and then get recurring charges for a “vip membership”… this membership does not give you any products, they say it’s for discounts and early releases yet there are no discounts to be seen and no members access point anywhere on the websites.
Total scam. Then to try and cancel the membership takes you to a complete back and forth over email with an agent that doesnt actually read the emails and gives a really generic response and claims they can’t issue refunds. They then don’t actually cancel the membership either so has to be taken back and forth again and again.
Now need to get in touch with my bank and ask for chargebacks and report the company through shop as scam.

While the product itself is good, the way Afroscrub handles its subscription model is deeply misleading.

At no point during my initial purchase was it made clear that I was entering into a recurring monthly payment. I only discovered this when I was unexpectedly charged in August.

I immediately contacted the company, who assured me the subscription had been cancelled and a refund would be issued. Yet one month later, my bank had to block two further payment attempts, despite their written confirmation that the subscription was cancelled.

This is not just poor service, it’s a breach of trust. The lack of transparency at checkout, followed by a failure to honour cancellation, raises serious concerns about how customer data and payment details are being managed.

I’ve now had to demand permanent deletion of my personal and payment information to prevent further unauthorised attempts. Buyers beware: the product may be decent, but the business practices behind it are anything but.

Bought two afroscrubs at a charge of £18.14 in June. Which I received and was happy with although shipping was a long wait.

Since then I have been charged £23 a MONTH for nothing. I only realized today when checking my bank. I haven’t ordered or subscribed to anything it was a pick your order and pay. Same as any other transaction.

Emailed customer service somebody called Axl responded almost immediately saying I selected some VIP thing at checkout which costs nothing for a month then £23 a month after. I did not subscribe to anything or click anything. Offered me a 20% discount for any future orders. I don’t want that I want my money back.

I contacted my bank who have blocked future payments and asked me to contact the retailer for refunds as it’s fraud as I never signed up for. The company refuse to refund me my £69.

Bank told me to contact them again if unsuccessful so they can open a case and get my money back for me. I guess I will be going down that route. Avoid like the plague. Would do zero stars if I could.

Great product BUT received VERY LATE. Poor correspondence and I had to chase up on several occasions. I was really excited about this company BUT am extremely disappointed in the poor customer service and the sneaky subscription aspect that I was unaware of until payments kept on coming out of my account. I contacted them BUT they were very unhelpful and kept on throwing back to me about the subscription I had 'agreed to'. I was totally unaware of a subscription offer. I wish I had read the reviews as I can see others have also experienced this underhand behaviour. Gutted as I really do not like to leave a poor review BUT feel others need to be aware of this. I will definitely NOT be buying anything from this company and I implore that others do the same as you will be hit with a reoccurring subscription fee for absolutely nothing in return. Th product itself - African Net Sponge is good BUT the company itself really need to focus a little more on customer service to retain clients. GUTTED and really disappointed.

This is a scam. They deserve 0 stars. They over charged me 119.96 for a produt that was suppose to cost 19.99. There is virtually no customer service. They deducted payments from my account for nothing. It is not a black owned company as advertised. The parent company is in Europe. The sponges are shipped from China. Beware!!! Report this fraudulent business.

This company will sign you up for a subscription to the tune of £23 per month without any permission and there is no customer service support. Their scam is such that every email you send receives the same auto response "We understand your concern, and we’re happy to help. It looks like your recent order was generated through a subscription that may have been selected at checkout. That said, if you do not wish to keep this subscription, we can process a cancellation right away." There is no to recover the stolen money.
