A few months after taking out a legal insurance policy, I made a claim. They said it was a pre-existing situation, which it was not. They also said I committed fraud when I applied for the insurance, which was not true. After waiting several months and collecting more premiums, they cancelled my policy and refused to refund any of the premiums I paid.

The 'proof' that my case was pre-existing and that I committed fraud was in their general terms and conditions. They read these like a crystal ball, and they are written so they can be interpreted any way they want to. They are the sole judge, jury and executioner. This was even though their accusation of fraud was based on a question I answered on an agent's website before I had the policy and before I had access to a copy of the general terms and conditions.

In this case the accusation of fraud was purely financial. It was to avoid paying my claim, and it was to steal my premiums. The petty amount of money involved, and the fact my legal insurance was useless meant it wasn't practical to pursue the matter.

Save yourself the trouble and don't buy insurance from this company.
