Review is in regards to Replay Music. They cancelled my lifetime license and converted to a subscription without warning. The new software doesn't work and seller said they were working on repairing it. Communication was slow but did occur initially. They never fixed the software and it doesn't work on any computer tried. When I requested a refund, they quit communicating all together. Don't know if the company is a scam but it appears they seem to be attempting to outlast my patience. Do not do business with Applian.

As of December 18, 2025, the applian website is down, and cannot verify your license. That means that the product you PURCHASED/SUBSCRIBED to will only work in demo mode. These folks first forced us to change our LIFETIME purchase to a subscription. Did that after complaining. Then they have the audacity of letting their server have us run in demo mode? Wake up!

applian company is terrible with selling products under false pretenses. I had to buy this product package several times and when i come back to use it after few months the product does not work and i am told by the support email to buy a new package all over again. This is a scam.

It's been two weeks since my purchase of Repaly Media Capture to Screen Record Videos. I purchased this product to replace my older versions that won't work with Windows Pro 11. Order Number was Q1759012302825.
There has been no reply from you. I purchased the program to Screen Capture videos I was watching, and it does not work. I had lifetime copies of other versions of your software in the past, but when Windows forced me to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro, they wouldn't work anymore.
I simply want to screen capture a video I am watching and save it, like I used to do in the past with the older version. I'm posting this review on TrustPilot to warn other buyers that this piece of software does not work or allow me to screen capture anything.
I had lifetime copies of other versions of your software in the past, but when Windows forced me to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro, they wouldn't work anymore any more and you don't honor lifetime subscriptions for any of your lifetime programs.
This used to be a great program, but now it is useless. It doesn't compare to the older, simpler Applian Replay Video Capture program, in which I just had to mark the video windows I wanted to record and start recording.
Applian Software is a total scam outfit; their programs don't work, and they offer no service or reply to any emails. No person who wants screen recording software/program should ever consider buying anything from this company.

We’re still waiting for the extraction engine update, which is affecting some capture functions. If you’re trying to record what’s playing on your screen, I recommend using Replay Video Capture, as it’s the best tool for screen recording.
Could you tell me how you’ve been trying to do the screen capture so far? Please include the specific steps you followed and which website you were recording from. That will help me see exactly what’s happening and guide you better.
I couldn't answer these questions because I removed the software as it wouldn't work. I explained that I removed the software from my Windows 11 system and that I wanted a refund. I never heard anything else, from them, until today 10/22/2025 when they sent me an email saying my case #249712 was closed.
So much for their service. They are total scammers.

Sold something they claimed never expires, expired. They say they can’t find a registry code, but when you give it to them, they don’t respond back.

The worst service of any software company I’ve dealt with. Just awful. Don’t respond. Don’t read the request for help and therefore give worthless advice. I have had a problem at each renewal where it puts me in trial mode even though I’ve paid and they have sent the subscription code. They even stuck me with 2 subscriptions and would not refund. Now they can’t fix the problem and won’t refund. I could go on, but it’s not worth my time.

Not happy with the 12 month license! This software will get old over time and people will update as they see fit. Being forced into a subscription is not the way to go.
And I will add that I have been a customer since the Jaksta days! Will not buy this form of software license and thank god I saved the older versions of not only Jaksta, but also Applian (1921 or so) and they still work fine without the online monitoring.

I've had a lifetime licence for a specific version of a product, suddenly the licence key stopped working and I was told, politely, that I need to buy a new yearly licence.

The software was good, even though it was old, but that behavior is totally unacceptable.

I bought Replay Music in 2017, then purchased upgrade in 2024. I am using it very ocasionally so I was suprised when I last time openned the software that it started in trial mode. According Applian my license expired, despite there was no single word that license is time limited in the purchase order. Applian is also not announcing the change to subscription model in their web sites.

I too have a valid licence (which I renewed yearly), but as of the last two months, the product Replay Media Catcher 2025 can no longer access the licencing server. My licence is still active, and I've been communicating with their tech support - but, there is no sign of them addressing an issue which is clearly at their end (as I tried an install on another PC, and instantly got the unable to contact licencing server error), so in my mind the problem is with their server. I'm now stuck with software that doesn't work and is locked in trial mode. With zero signs of help from Applian!

I bought the package deal several years ago and the lifetime license expired without notice. I bought another renewed license on may 27, 2024 and today, they said my license has expired. Not even a 12 month license. I thnk they have a different definition of "lifetime". It's based on the lifetime of your computer and not you as a user. I really think their upgrades are morenabout cycling through customers rather an improving their software. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE.

New people took over this company about four years ago. First, they didn't understand that existing licences were lifetime. Now in 2025 their Media Catcher upgrade just does not work right. The downloads I've tried are all faulty.

Avoid at all costs. Purchased a license years ago only to find that when I logged back in a year ago, I needed to upgrade. It had been awhile, so I stupidly did so. Last week, I go to use the software and they require me to upgrade again. I emailed them letting them know I didn't need any new features, I just wanted the basic functionality I had already paid for TWICE. They pointed me to their upgrade "deals" for those who , you know , already own the product and then proceeded to not respond further. The software that I have twice purchased remains unusable. What a scam from a company whose software I have been using for more than 10 years. They've suddenly disabled all of my Applian software and require me to buy a new licence. Needless to say I refuse to pay any more as the licences I paid for was supposed to be lifetime, not a subscription. They will go out of business very soon judging from the reviews they have been getting.

Like most other reviews for Applian, I'm not happy with the way the license expires. When I first used Applian products some years ago I was not told that the license would expire and that I would have to pay again for the product to carry on working. However, it did a good job and so I paid again over the next few years. When I paid for the 2024 versions of their products I suddenly started getting a tab open on my browser advertising their NetOptimizer (this URL is now also being flagged by Malwarebytes as a risk). This happens every time I use the Replay Media Catcher 2024. This is something you expect to happen on free versions, not on one you have paid for. Even though I usually pay for their complete package, I only ever really use Replay Media Catcher, so I won't be renewing their product again and in future will use Video DownloadHelper, a free addon available on Firefox.

Bunch of cheating sharks. Story goes like this.
Some years ago I bought your full replay package. Installed ok, and after a couple of issues, which you failed to mention of different ways to setup on different machines. All sorted, but some time later you did an upgrade that I bought but was unable to install - your sotware just stopped during the install. When I contacted you you claimed to be unable to help, despite being sent screenshots etc! So the upgrade was a waste.

Now gone to use the original software and it says I can't unless I buy a new upgrade. The original software was never supposed to be timelocked to mandate upgrades! Swindled!

They don't like reading their own terms and coditions they pointed me to.No one in their right mind would lock operation into unspecified updates and no prices. Could be £10,000 for 6 months!
Instead you read what you did sign and supports my case.
"RMC15899954377590A-1233 for Replay Video Capture has expired. In order to keep using the latest version we suggest that you upgrade your license."

I don't want the laest version, just the one I bought to carry on working - I've done that once and got nowhere nor would they help if you do! Just want your money, should as a techy realised that when you have to adjust setup for your machine an undocumented - shakey software!

That's a registration for support I think you will find, ceratainly taken as such, which I didn't get and are you looking at the original or the renewal? I'm being told it's stopping any use other than demo. There was never any mention of time limited use! So should be able to use the original version. It was certainly not made clear, thus breaking UK law

Their T&C's the way it works you loadthe demo version, paythe fee and it's "irrivocable", certainly not time locked.
If you are refering to

2.2 Registered License. APPLIAN grants the LICENSEE an irrevocable, non transferable non exclusive LICENSE to install and use the SOFTWARE in UNRESTRICTED MODE in respect of one computer at the same time or as provided by the TERMS (if any), provided the LICENSEE pays an additional fee to APPLIAN to obtain a license key and register this license key with the SOFTWARE and allows the SOFTWARE to access applian.com and applian.securesites.com to verify the license key.

That is a "support warranty" at best, and Applian were paid the additional fee - hence I have the licence, - it actually says "irrevocable" which is something you didn't want to say, as would clash with other terms which say if I were to break other clauses! It does not limit use, quite the opposite!

When realising they were beaten they just stopped answering, realising I wasn't going to waste more money on another upgrade that properly won't install either!
Clealy shows they've put in changes to stop their software working whenever they want more money, completely breaking the terms of their own agreement. "Irrevocable" is very different fromtwo years or next update!
I'm a techy and short of disassembling their code to take this feature out you are stumped by these dirty swindling sharks! A lot of money for very shakey software which is time/version locked when it's operation is permitted by a licence whichsays "irrovocable". Avoid or waste your money!

Just like all other reviews you'll read on Trustpilot. Applian (CURRENTLY 72% NEGATIVE REVIEWS). This company will disable the customer from using the software after 12 months. THEY DO NOT MENTION ANYWHERE ON THE APPLIAN WEBSITE THAT THEIR SOFTWARE IS SUBSCRIPTION BASED. You are led to assume that their software will function for the life of your computer, WRONG! I wrote them several times and just received a response that I will have to purchase a new license. When I asked them where it is stated that the software would go into "TRIAL MODE" after a twelve month period, they just gave me the same response ("Sorry, you will have to buy another license"). DON'T SUPPORT THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE DISHONEST!!!
Until Applian clearly posts of their website that the customer will have to purchase a license every year for each of their products, I will continue to make posts on Google Reviews and the many other consumer review sites.

This company is in a lot of trouble. PayPal appears to have stopped dealing with them. I complained and they said they had fixed the PayPal problem but it is still not working. So I tried to order by credit card. The site stopped me, stating that I had not completed my Captcha, but no box was on screen to complete. They gave another screen to order on and that worked. I am very concerned that a company that sells software has so many bugs on its payment page. I think I paid so I tried to print the receipt. I received 47 activation codes over 4 pages. It printed out on 7, yes seven, pages of 0 USD, that is 47 times. I'm guessing they have a disgruntled software writer who is trying to sabotage their company. I tried a few other video editors and found Applian the easiest and most intuitive to use. It's such a shame they have gone downhill so catastrophically.

One of the many customers that got their product disabled remotely. One day I was using it, the next day it said that the registration code was expired.
I got an absolutely absurd reply from support that basically told me to pay again.

Needless to say, I won´t be upgrading ever again.

SOLUTION!!
I found an easy way to circumvent their pathetic extrotion scheme. Simply disconnect your network before starting the software, it will complain that it cannot connect but will start in your rightfully purchased way, then turn on the network again. Thanks to this, I can use again what I bought.
