This ‘company’ collect your car, take it to a random office block car park in Staines, don’t do any relevant tests and charge the highest of prices. PLEASE CONTINUE READING FOR CONTEXT BEFORE YOU LEAVE YOUR CAR WITH THESE PEOPLE.

After telling the salesmen we wasn’t going ahead with the repairs these scammers wouldn’t give up the address of where our car was being held at for us to come and collect it. Basically holding our car ransom! The ‘repairs’ cost way more than the car was worth and on top they wanted £414 for a towing and diagnostics test which wasn’t the discussed price. At the time We were aware our ‘local’ centre was Enfield so questioned why would towing cost that much as we were so close. We said we’d be willing to pay the price discussed with the salesman prior which was around £250 mark, and decided we will be collecting our car to which he said we couldn’t as they’re not insured for people to come on their “site”.

After going backwards and forwards with the salesman we soon learnt their local centres do not exist and the car wasn’t taken there. The car was all the way in Staines were we eventually collected it from.

After a very stressful day of backward and forward with the salesman (and paying a sum of £258) he eventually but reluctantly gave up the address. The address the car was at was not a garage, nor were any of the cars there being worked on. Just cars parked in bays outside an office block at TW18 3AG Not a site where mechanical engineering is taking place. We were told by the salesman our car didn’t even drive during its checks when they done the diagnostics…… well It was collected by us and was driven over an hour on the M25 back home. Please don’t be sucked in with these salesmen that confuse you with their mechanical jargon. Do not leave your care with these people.

I would like to add I have proof of an email of this company offering us our money back on the condition we take down our review.

My little Renault Clio RS just stopped one day. Tow truck driver diagnosed what he thought was a fatal gearbox failure, something he saw a lot in my car apparently. So annoying. Only recently paid off, out of warranty. The ASR guys made it clear from the start it might be an iffy repair, due to the age of my car, and the cost, depending on what was wrong. They promised to sort something out for me either way.

They towed my car to one of the shops (its a one stop service with them, advising on whether its worth investigating a repair, tow, quote, and then either repair if worth it, or if not, return or you can even have them buy your non-running car.

I went for the latter option as the repair didn't make sense for me vs the value of the car, but i did get a fair price on the write off purchase. Not how I had hoped it to end up, but at no time did I feel anything but fairly treated and assisted.

I dealt with Chris and Sonny who were exceptionally helpful throughout my process. Getting your car fixed is always a stressful time but these guys were proactive and kept on top of things every step of the way which made the process stress free. Anything transmission related I would hugely recommend giving these guys a call as they beat the price of any competitor I rang with great service as well.

The last thing you want to see when driving is "gearbox in emergency mode". The first thing I did was to ring Skoda (my car is a 2018 Kodiak - more on that in a minute). Skoda's first statement was that the car was no longer under warranty - the second statement was it would cost me £120 just to look at it - non refundable! I rang around a few gearbox specialists - many did not answer the phone and the ones that did either were not interested or had long wait times. Then I found ASR Gearbox Repairs and to be honest it was like having the cavalry coming over the hill. They answered the phone - discussed the problem and identified the issue fairly quickly - the DSG Automatic Gearbox Mechatronic unit is apparently a very common issue on Kodiak's - who knew - I think Skoda do know but are keeping quiet about the issue! ASR were fantastic - the technical adviser I spoke to, Jay Shaw, knows his stuff. replied to all emails and phone calls - got the car fitted into their VW Audi gearbox specialist centre and I have had the car picked up, repaired and returned in less than 4 working days - great job - would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending ASR Gearbox repairs

I recently had my gearbox repaired at this garage, and I couldn’t be happier with the service. From start to finish, everything was handled professionally and efficiently. A special thank you to Elliot, who was incredibly helpful and super friendly throughout the whole process. He took the time to explain everything clearly and made what could have been a stressful situation feel much easier.

Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for trustworthy, skilled mechanics and excellent customer service!

From start to finish the service cannot be faulted. I was given ideas of the possible fault over the phone when i initially contact ASR and the whole process was explained. Based on the knowledge and friendliness of Sonny, i decided to book my wifes car in for the work. Due to staff holidays I dealt with a couple of different people throughout the process, all knowing the latest update on my vehicle and made me feel like mine was the only vehicle they were working on. It's really refreshing to not only find a company that will deliver what was agreed and with no additional/ hidden costs, but one that's staff clearly take pride in what they do and always put the customer first.I now have my go-to guys for any gearbox related issues! I recently had my VW Golf in for a repair on the clutch on my Golf. I found them to be really knowledgeable and they clearly know what they are talking about. Initially I was apprehensive because I had just had the clutch changed at another garage only 6 months ago and it went wrong. They rectified the issue and provided me with an I depth report about what went wrong with the previous repair. They put me at ease straight from the off which was appreciated. Whenever I called I got an update and they even managed to deliver the car on the same day it was finished. I would absolutely recommend ASR to anyone seeking repairs. I just wanted to say that ive just had my vehicle repaired by ASR and I cannot fault them Sonny was amazing. They were upfront with how much potential repairs could be and kept me updated through the process. Id rather not have parted with £000's but thats not their fault. I would have no problem in recommending them to friends and family.

From my initial phone call asking for help, to the safe return of our vehicle, we have had excellent service. ASR have kept us in the loop, explained things thoroughly and stuck to their word.
We have been pleased with everything and now have a car that drives beautifully!

The guys at ASR were great with my 2002 vectra Gsi.
Picked it up, soon diagnosed the issue. Which meant a full gearbox strip recondition. The car was back home within 2 weeks. Where are am now running it.
The only minor fault I have is, because I am an engineer i asked for a report on what was the faults was. Alas that was not provided.

Had an absolute please dealing with Jay he kept me informed throughout the whole process with updates & I highly recommend ASR

They made me feel very comfortable and understanding about the work to be done on my car And they explained in detail of what they will be doing and needs to be done James is very helpful and professional at his job well done excellent job

3 stars, It would of been 5 stars. As they very efficient with collecting and delivering my car after the repairs and my car feels great! Good as new! However I wanted to make other future customers aware that they make payments very difficult, which is a shame when their customer Services team has been excellent, especially Sonny who is professional and friendly. (Apart from operational manager Chris was very unhelpful, and couldn't given me a solution to how I was going to pay them when my only way of payment was credit card and told me I couldn't get my car back until I paid them, which I wanted to pay them but they told me they do not accept any debit or credit card payments, and that I should ask my CC provider to send me the money so I can do BAC transfer which I wasn't able to do!) On different call I was even questioned by another member of staff ( I think Jay was his name, why? who I was with? and saying as good well gesture they would pay for CC fees if I could get the money to do BAC Transfere!) It took 4 days to resolve, which delayed my car being repaired and this only resolved by me stating on their website it says they do accept CC and Debit cards and I sent a screen recording via email. After this I was sent a invoice link to make payment, the link had the option of apple pay, klarna, manual card payment. If you have your own money, and can do it by BAC Transfer, or pay 6months finance option to pay them, then then I cant fault them regarding the repair so far, as my car is working, and I got aftercare paperwork with the warranty. It just a real shame the payment issue has brought a negative experience when its already a stressful time not having a working car. I wasn't made aware at the point of booking they only want to accept certain way of payment. I think as company you need to look into your methods of payment, or warn people of this at the time of booking to save disagreements. If you don't want to lose customers, then make payments easier! A friend of mine, called your business and was told it was because the company didn't want to pay card transactions fees, which is surprising when you have many centres across the UK, when I discussed this with Chris, he denied it. So I hate to think how many customers have had the same issue as me and the poor customer service team dealing with angry customers! because I was one of them, its very frustrating when all I wanted to do was pay for the your services and it feels like it's entrapment not telling customers you cant make card payments, and only accept certain ways.

From the time my vehicle was collected to receiving it back Jay @ ASR Gearbox Repairs kept me updated. Jay picked their centre based on my car which was a Honda HRV. Jay's customer service was excellent. Although I was very distressed at times, Jay calmed be down and spoke with the engineer and reported back immediately. Although it took nearly 3 weeks this was because we had Easter and Honda parts are very difficult to get. Jay also ensured that I received immediatey the paperwork, quote, invoice and guarantee. Would recommend ASR to people

From first initial phone call telling James about my gearbox issues he emailed me a list of gearbox repairs and warranty offices on each estimate
Gave me pick up day promptly after we agreed to get work done and throughout the whole process of inspection and diagnosis report we were kept informed of each stage it was a big job so did take over 2 .5 weeks to get fixed but was promptly delivered back next day after it was all fixed and payment Was done promptly via bank transfer receipts and warranty emailed promptly would highly recommend ASR gearbox specialist to anyone

ASR were great to deal with. Informed and responsive. Our vehicle (Merc A180) was collected from our home, taken away, repaired and delivered back. The process from first contact to vehicle return was without issue. All works fully guaranteed with supporting warranty etc. Expensive repair but had to be done Happy to recommend.

Look no further if you need your car gearbox needs a repair.
ASR from the very first phone call have kept me up to date all the way through the repair. Jay Shaw has all ways called me back if we have missed each other. Nothing is to much trouble. A perfect service.

Car went wrong just a little over a month ago and I had little choice in where I could get her repaired. I emailed ASR, got a quick response and transparent contact/service throughout. Car was fixed within a week of it being picked up and re-delivery organised promptly. I highly recommend going to ASR over main dealer.

This company are advertising as gearbox specialists which they are, but basic servicing is something they don't do. While I was surprised to to be told they don't carry out service only, my communication with the Ops Mgr committed to review the website content to ensure it can be seen that basic service is not what they do eg. that's because they specialise in repairs.
