Battersea is here for every dog and cat, and has been since 1860. For 160 years, we've gone from one home in London to three rescuing and rehoming centres across the country and have cared for over three million vulnerable animals.

Excellent experience

My wonderful new friend - Ted the cat (aka Battersea named Peace)
I rehomed a wonderful cat on 5th June 2026. We have become firm friends and although I havenât had him long, I wouldnât be without him now. The staff at Battersea were very knowledgeable and kind (particular shoutout to Mercedes), and the whole rehoming experience was excellent and stress free for both Ted the cat and me! Highly recommended, of course!
BIG UP BATTERSEA
I have so much to say about the wonderful service the staff at Battersea give to the animals in their care.
The rehoming staff were and still are absolutely amazing. REAL HEROES.
We were adopted 2 weeks ago, by our new family member Bilbo. A wonderful French Bulldog. A proper little gentleman he is too.
The veterinary care he was given was life changing for him. The rehoming staff gave love, care and support to our boy as well as us.
THINK, before you purchase a puppy from a breeder. Battersea have so many little lost souls in their care, who desperately want their forever home and bucket loads of attention, care and love.
We wouldnât hesitate rescuing a dog from Battersea again.
Remember; Battersea Dogs and Cats home need much financial support.
All the good will in the world doesnât pay for the needs these little souls desperately need. Love Matt, Niki & Bilbo ðð€ ððœð©ðŸâðб

Perfect experience when I applied for Harley
My application was acknowledged immediately and my proposal to reserve âHarleyâ was accepted quickly. I travelled to the Brands Hatch branch where I was introduced to Harley and informed of her background, medical history and her favourite foods. My application for her was accepted and the paperwork was completed. I have had Harley for a week now and Brands Hatch have called me to see how we are getting on to make sure she is happy. I am very please at the way everything was handled, the process was easy but thorough and Iâm glad that I applied to Battersea.
Less emotive, more manipulative
I donât want to sound like a moaning gammon type, but the cold calling in person and by phone feels like it crosses from emotive into manipulative. When you call to ask why I stopped my donations, and I share personal financial circumstances, I do not find it appropriate to try and haggle resigning up with a new amount. First suggesting instead of the initial £11 per month I do £9, then trying to negotiate down to six. Why call just to make people feel worse about no longer being able to afford to donate by then asking if Iâm a dog or cat person, and when I answer telling distressing stories about the cats? If someone canât afford to donate, they canât afford it. Guilt tripping people into sacrificing their own needs in order to resume donations is the wrong side of the line for me.
Impressive level of knowledge and care
We are so impressed with the level of thought and care put into the rehoming process. From the application form to taking our beautiful Danny home, we felt supported every step of the way. The staff at BOW were always friendly and ready to answer all our queries. We appreciate transparency regarding Dannyâs medical needs, which helped us plan when choosing his health cover.
When we visited, we were impressed with the amazing work the staff do for the animals in their care. In addition, the fostering process ensured that the staff knew Danny well and that he was adequately prepared for his forever home. It has only been a week since we took our beautiful, gentle boy home, and he is settling well and much better than we could have ever envisaged. We are grateful for the amazing work Battersea do.

This is one the richest charities inâŠ
This is one the richest charities in the UK and yet it refuses to help local volunteers who are struggling to trap, neuter and release cats in the London area. This charity says it is full up and yet won't stop the problem that is causing it to be full up - over breeding and abandoned cats who are not sterilised. Disgraceful. Stop funding this place.
We found a true friend.
We sadly lost our rescue collie a few months ago. We got him at 8 and he lived to 14. I looked online at various rescue centres and couldnât see another collie. I was watching âfor the love of dogs* and that lead me to their website. I saw Mickey on there and although I was away in Belgium I sent an email. The next day I received a call. A few weeks on Mickeys at home and a very happy boy.
A perfect adoption
We lost our beloved Tibetan cross a while ago and registered with Battersea .We had a call saying they had a Tibetan who was brought in as a stray.we went to meet her and fell in love straight away.We had to wait a week or so for her operation on her eye to heal as it had to be removed as was sadly too damaged to be saved.
We then went to adopt her and everything went smoothly,we named her Bebe and she is perfect.
Thankyou Battersea

Our new best friend
We would just like to say thank you so much for giving us the bestest friend we could have ever asked for. After just a week Vinny has settled really well and starts his puppy training in just under 2 weeks. During the registration phone call Deborah was amazing, she spent just under 2 hours on the phone to us, we think she would have gone through every dog they had available to find us a dog. When we did our meet and greet introduction, Deborah gave us time on our own with Vinny to see how we got on and we fell in love with him. We picked him up the following weekend, we got to chat with the vet to go through any aftercare we could provide him after being neutered.
We have already shared our amazing experience with family and friends and would definitely recommend Battersea because all staff involved were truly amazing.

New cat.
I was made to feel very welcome at Old Winsor and was introduced to my new cat with care. Despite not having looked after a cat for many years I was provided with all I needed, carry box, litter tray etc. at littles cost and was able to take "Princess" home straight away. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Battersea dogs home
At Battersea quite rightly it isnât easy to adopt a dog, because they need to make sure each dog goes to the right owner.
That said we were chosen to view a little Dachshund who we were lucky enough to be accepted to adopt her.
The information provided whilst we were there and the aftercare and contact have been amazing.
I feel if I had any worries, concerns I have full support from the amazing Battersea team. Thank you

New addition to our Family
We recently adopted our new cat last week and she's absolutely adorable. We have to say the staff at Battersea are truly amazing and went above and beyond, in ensuring the special day was a memorable one.
Our new member of the family has settled in well and is loving life to the full.
A big thank you to all at Battersea Old Windsor.

Battersea is best I'm my opinion.
I would truly recommend Battersea when looking to rehome a new pet. Our experience was positive and straightforward right from the first phone conversation to introduce us to our new best friend (VIP) to collecting her. The dedicated staff explain everything clearly and are there at the end of the phone if need be. The information pack is useful and so are the other additions that are included.

Terrible organisation with no conceptâŠ
Terrible organisation with no concept of customer service
Had a puppy who died through no fault of my own.
Contact to adopt another Dog
Call back by the rehoming team asked for things such as why I was looking to get a dog
Asked if I could split the payment in two
Told they didnât do that and if I couldnât afford to pay it all one go they couldnât give me a dog and I should consider a smaller pet.
Have no family and was thinking of leaving them a large part of my house funds in my will
This will now not happen as I do not want my money going to such a discriminatory and money grabbing organisation.
