Not happy

Live in West Yorkshire just had a guy knock on our door with the begging bowl out for Battersea dogs home that’s in the rich south with tv series and the rich and famous helping out so they come north taking money away from local animal charities just not right.

Would give a ZERO

Would give a ZERO.
Cold caller fundraisers banged on my door at 2pm. 17 year old answered and was met with a fundraiser talking so fast and not letting her respond- my 3 year old then appeared at the door and still the fundraiser continued. After 2 minutes lecture 17 year old was only then asked if she was 25 and if mum was available. She said no to both and this caller walked away stating they would be returning at 20:30.
Brings us to 8:15 toddler is in bed and I am winding down after a long day and then comes the hammering at the door. BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM.
Wakes toddler up and gets my hackles up. Cold calling does regardless.
Bully tactics is not acceptable!

Battersea is an amazing place

Battersea is an amazing place, I couldn't believe how big it is. Each cat/dog has it's own comfy room and are cared for by amazing staff. We rehomed a lovely 1 year old cat, she'd been given all her vaccinations and was neutered . The service that was received as we collected our cat was excellent, everything explained any questions answered. It really is the best place to go to for rehoming a cat or dog. I can't speak highly enough for the care that is received by each cat and dog.

An Amazing Team in Battersea!

We adopted Nala (formerly Toffee) from Battersea Dog & Cat Rescue on 12 July 2025, and I honestly can’t recommend them highly enough! The entire process was incredibly smooth and reassuring from start to finish. It began with an in-depth phone call with the rehoming team (shout out to Grace)to assess whether I was a suitable match for Nala, and whether our home and circumstances would meet her needs. Thankfully we did fit, they can match you to a dog/cat pending your circumstances, please know they are working on that basis! A few days later, we had the chance to meet Nala in person at Battersea. Jasmine, who introduced us, was fantastic-so knowledgeable and supportive, and she shared a wealth of helpful information.
After that first meeting, we got to meet Nala again which was great. Following on from that, the communication from the rehoming team was brilliant. We were kept fully informed at every stage and felt really supported throughout the adoption journey. The team works incredibly hard and genuinely cares about every animal in their care. The dogs are clearly loved and well looked after, they deserve every bit of funding and support.

Nala has been with us for just two weeks, and she’s already made herself at home. She’s absolutely obsessed with us & the feeling is mutual! We’ve loved sending updates, photos, and videos to the rehoming team to share how she’s settling in. Battersea also provides structured post-adoption support, checking in at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months, so you never feel like you’re on your own. You can always contact them with any questions, which is such a reassuring service.

We paid £220 for Nala, and she came fully vaccinated, microchipped, with some food, and even a little care/info pack when we collected her. The whole experience has been wonderful.

The staff at Battersea’s dog’s home


The staff at Battersea’s dog’s home were absolutely wonderful . It didn’t take long for me to have the pleasure of taking home the lovely hunee .

Who was looked after very well by all team at Battersea. I can tell they put in a lot of training with hunee as she is such a good dog .
I would definitely recommend Battersea dogs to anyone who wants to rehome a dog, well worth the money I paid for hunee.

Animal abuse to my dog from Head of Security when attending a physio appointment

Animal abuse from Head of Security towards my elderly, disabled dog today. Have reported the individual to the police and made a formal complaint to CEO and Head of Operations.

My dog nearly died at the hands of the Head of Security at Battersea - but all they care about is their policy - not a dogs life or welfare.

Battersea hires security who know nothing about animal welfare and don't car about abusing animals. Definitely not there for every dog and a shocking organisation to hire people like this.

The CEO is ultimately responsible for allowing policies and hiring people who carry out animal abuse. After using the therapy team for nearly a year I will never go back.

Disgusting, moral, vile organisation.

Battersea's response to my complaint, was we've done nothing wrong, all you've done is deny and highlight your gross misconduct. You have sent me an email saying people with an appointment should be let in before 8.30am. I had an appointment I am not the general public. I was told by your physio Megan, I would be able to get in before 8.30am and she also told me whilst this situation was going on that I should have been let in before the appointment time. You are the most awful organisation I have ever come across, absolute lies.

My dog sat there for 15minutes in 27 degree heat waiting to be let in and because of this he developed heat stroke and had a seizure.

I have reported Battersea to the police and to the RSPCA.

Zero response from your CEO, just denials! Your physiotherapist should just as ashamed of herself for not stating I was told I would be allowed in before 8.30am - her behaviour is just as disgusting.

An organisation that clearly doesn't care about any animals welfare, they certainly didn't care if my dog died in the car in the heat at their gates, they only care about defending themselves and their policy, not what is the right thing to do.

AVOID Battersea therapy team - shocking behaviour from them, the security team and their CEO. Animal ABUSERS! If you don't want your dog to live, dont use Battersea, they only care about defending themselves and their policy, regardless if it's unethical or immoral or a danger to life.

They didn't carry out a thorough investigation and even the physio involved in my dog's treatment stated I should have been let in and not stopped like this.

AVOID unless you want to be gaslighted. AVOID! Their idea of a thorough investigation is not what any members of the public would classify as a complete investigation. I have the receipts. Lying organisation. Any readers, do your research and look at the forums with all of the bad feedback on Battersea.

agressive staff member in Milton Keynes

Friday June 13th 2025 At approx 12 midday

Tesco Express 3 Oxley Park, Milton Keynes, MK4 4TB.

Two of your fundraisers were stationed outside of the shop mentioned above, one of them made a rude remark about my appearance as I entered the store.

He then made a remark about me to his colleague as I was leaving the store, and aggressively entered my personal space, squaring up to me saying "it doesn't matter, I can do what I want" when I asked what was funny.

Straight after this incident I called 0300 323 1216 to report it, I asked that the person be removed from the location immediately. Unfortunately, the staff member was there outside the Tesco shop , for the remainder of the afternoon.

The operator I spoke on the phone to, did email me back that same day, advising that my feedback had been passed on internally.

I appreciated this, but given the aggresssive, alarming behaviour of the “fundraiser” staff member, I had expected them to be told to cease working immediately, and they be educated on how to deal with members of the public.

I have emailed this, with a supporting photograph of the staff member, both to feedback@battersea and fundraising@battersea

I would very much appreciate an update on what steps have been taken regarding this person.

Browne’s Review

We adopted our beautiful girl in March 2025, we found the whole experience 10/10 everyone was extremely friendly and helpful.

Especially Hannah R who did our handover it was evident for all to see that she loved her job and her fluffy friends.

The follow up has been equally outstanding with different members of the team being more than happy to help with the development and progress of our pup.

Poor customer service

I sent Battersea a donation after my mother died and I have not had an acknowledgement of that donation after 2 months. I consider that pretty poor service and I am now considering recommending to people that they send donations to other places.

Impossible registration for rehoming

Have tried to register with Battersea as looking to rehome a dog and seems impossible they never recognise any password I enter i have sponsored for years so disappointing really there's only so many times I will try to fill in a form.

I had a knock at my door from one of their sales people who proceeded to try and trick me into signing up.

After hearing the sales pitch (with a few manipulative questions in there) I clearly stated I would like to look at more info online and would consider it in my own time. Obviously not listening, they then gave me a leaflet and assured me I wouldn’t be paying anything today, I felt bad for the young lad and thought I’d give him a name and number to show he knocked on my door and thought that would be that. No such luck , he then proceeded to show me the 3 subscription amounts and asked which one I’d like to choose £10, £20 or £30 per month - he was filling in the sign up for me with my details.

I realised before it was too late but I hate to think about the vulnerable people who are already struggling that get conned into this on their own doorstep without knowing what is happening..

No one should ever be pushed into singing up to anything without doing their research. I have raised money for charity 3 times before which I organised and delivered thousands of pound for each one to charities that I believe in and did my checks on. Battersea will never get a penny from me.

Utterly shameful and I will tell anyone I know that mentioned Battersea dogs to avoid at all costs.

Battersea: NOT a place for animal lovers!!

Battersea is definitely NOT there for every dog!!!
The dogs need to be VERY well behaved. And with people from Battersea who already stress around a dog who just gives a bark....
If YOU love animals, never leave any there. A lot of extremely loving beings are just been killed, due to complete incompetence and lack of love...

Hi Anna. We take every decision around an animal's future extremely seriously and Battersea remains determined to do everything we can to rehome the animals in our care. Every animal is treated as an individual and cared for by our teams of dedicated, skilled and experienced staff. If there are serious concerns that call into question a dog or cat’s ability to live a safe and comfortable life, the case will be reviewed by at least three senior members of staff. They will consider all alternatives, including putting the animals in a temporary foster home, introducing a different care plan, or working with specialist breed rescues and external organisations who train some of our most challenging dogs to become working and service dogs. Only if every alternative has been ruled out will we make the difficult decision to put a dog or cat to sleep. If you wish to discuss this further, please email info@battersea.org.uk

An excellent experience

The experience we had re-homing a cat from Battersea was excellent. The process did involve a few steps, but everything was explained clearly and we had great advice from the team along the way. Battersea is really well run and a calm environment for the cats and dogs. We are delighted to have been able to re-home our lovely cat Roxy and she has settled in with us really well.

5 Stars – Incredible Work & Life-Changing Experience!

I can’t thank Battersea enough for the incredible care they gave to my cat, Dante, before he came home with me. From start to finish, the adoption process was smooth, well-organized, and stress-free. The team was kind, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything in detail, ensuring we felt fully prepared.

The work Battersea does for animals is truly inspiring. They go above and beyond to ensure every pet finds the right home, and their dedication is clear in everything they do. Thanks to them, Dante is now part of my life, and I can’t imagine my days without him. Adopting from Battersea has been a life-changing experience, and I will always be grateful for the love and happiness they’ve brought into my home.

Excellent care shown for cats and


Excellent care shown for cats and prospective adopters, left nothing to chance. The professionalism shown by all staff was second to none, It was clear that all the cats were given love and care they deserved.
I am so happy with my new little cat Pansy (was Peri} she has settled in very well, still nervous about meeting strangers and hasn't been out to the garden yet, but Im sure she will cope over time

Outstanding in every way

We were so impressed by everything about our experience re-homing a dog. From the first phone conversation to the support after having the dog at home. Everyone that we dealt with was kind, professional and supportive. They clearly take very good care of the animals that they support. We are truly grateful for all that you do for these pets.
