Important Distinction: Tax Consultant vs. Attorney Representation

I want to clarify both the timeline and why this experience remains relevant today.

My issue with BC Tax occurred approximately five months ago. While that period has passed, the actions taken by the non-attorney tax consultant assigned to my case continue to surface in my current interactions, despite my account now being handled successfully and professionally by an attorney-led tax firm.

This is why the experience remains concerning.

When I made the decision to disengage from BC Tax due to the consultant’s conduct, she immediately contacted the taxing authority in a disparaging manner upon withdrawing her power of attorney. That action created a narrative and paper trail that has followed my case forward—long after I moved on and secured proper legal representation.

This highlights an important distinction consumers should understand:

BC Tax is a tax consulting firm, not a law firm.
The individuals handling cases are tax consultants, not licensed attorneys.

That distinction matters.

• Tax consultants are not held to the same ethical, legal, or professional standards as attorneys
• They do not operate under attorney licensing boards or legal codes of conduct
• Their actions can still materially affect a taxpayer’s case, even after the relationship ends

To be fair and accurate:
The owner, Mr. Barr, was kind, and Mr. Herr, whom I initially spoke with, was professional and helpful. Unfortunately, the consultant ultimately assigned to my case undermined that initial experience and created lasting complications.

I am now working with an attorney-led tax firm, where my matter is being handled with professionalism, discretion, and results—without volatility or retaliation.

I am sharing this review so others can make fully informed decisions. When dealing with serious tax matters, representation matters, and there is a meaningful difference between working with a tax consultant and working with licensed attorneys.

Company is a rip off, promise you results but only if you keep paying more money. The initial 1500 dollars gets you nothing.

The professionalism and guidance i received throughout my consultation was invaluable. The best choice to solve IRS issues at a reasonable fee We received many solicitations about our tax issue. BC tax, LLC was professional and diligent in every respect. Our issue was about and unexpected recapture of depreciation on a capital gain sale we made. I was not in a cash position to pay the entire tax when due. IRS imposed a substantial penalty for not paying the tax when due. BC Tax was able to negotiate with IRS to remove the penalty. My personal attempts to deal with IRS were frustrating and with out success. Colleen's help solved our issue quickly and in the manner we had discussed. We are very appreciative of her efforts.

Megan Bridge with BC Tax has been working on my issues with the IRS for about 15months. I had created an issue over 3-4 years of by overpaying the estimated Taxes and applying the tax refund to the next years taxes. So all was good as I never owed any additional tax above the paid Estimated Taxe - except I didn’t follow up with a filed return. In 2021-22 The IRS issued huge penalties with interest for not filing a timely return. In early 2022 I filed the delinquent Tax Returns. However, I was getting nowhere with the IRS regarding the large penalties and interest. I asked BC TAX to help, and Megan Bridge took on my case and resolved the issue. Her ability to understand the terminology, access to the right people and the on-line information resulted in the IRS waiving the penalties and interest. I truly cant say enough good things about my experience with BC Tax. From the initial call they were very clear/concise with what I had ahead of me and set clear expectations which helped calm my nerves. I really felt like I had a team of people helping me - and they were all on the same page.

This company was a savior for me. I was trying to deal with my IRS situation on my own and also a personal accountant. Then I got a call randomly from BC Tax. I usually do not give phone sales call a chance but I decided to after talking to the nice man on the phone who gave me an update on my case. It was really amazing and then I decided to go with them. They were very professional and provided above and beyond what I could ever imagine. Long story short, my tax situation got resolved 100%. Other accountants and lawyers said there was very little chance I would be 100% good on this tax issue. BC Tax believed in me and knew my situation was right and they made sure I was good 100%.

BC Tax did a great job in communicating with me and understanding my concerns. They made recommendations and secured what we agreed with the IRS. On an ongoing basis if I had specific questions, their response was very quick!

Well to start off with they called me straight up and told me they could help with my debt to the IRS instead of sending letters that look like it’s from the IRS to trick me into hiring them like so many others did. I mean if they’re going to trick you into calling them that’s a bad start if you ask me. As far as I can tell they’ve done everything they said they would do which was work a compromise with the IRS for a fraction of the money I actually owed. I am happy with the compromise. I don’t feel like they took it vantage of the situation like so many others do. If you need help out of your jam with the IRS call BC Tax. They did it for me!
