This concept embraces 5 key dimensions essential to maintaining our health and well-being. Dr. Michael Bazlinton is a UK based Family Doctor (GP). He completed his GP training in 2006 and started the bodymapping clinic in 2017. The aim of the clinic is to provide a service for individuals who want to apply science and technology to better understand and manage their health. The service is for those who would rather avoid medication and short term fixes, and instead prefer to look deeper into the root causes of ill health and pursue a proactive approach to their well-being. This approach is commonly called functional medicine. According to The Institute of Functional Medicine: Functional medicine uses the patient’s story as a key tool for integrating diagnosis, signs and symptoms, and evidence of clinical imbalances into a comprehensive approach to improve both the patient’s environmental inputs and his or her physiological function. The Institute for Functional Medicine teaches health care professionals how to apply these principles in practice through an intensive 5-day training course called Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice™. I was introduced to the bodymapping clinic by Graham Phillips “the pharmacist who gave up drugs” 5 years ago. I wanted to find changes in lifestyle that would counter a running capacity decline I encountered in my early sixties.Changes made to nutrition macros (prioritise protein) and training regime (weights, HIIT, and cycling) have resulted in a strength increase (with muscle mass up by 8kg), ability to deadlift rep 1.25x body weight and 90 minute mixed zone 2-5 capacity. Now in my 70’s and feel I have regained fitness and halted the decline.
Precise information is gathered about my health through detailed blood tests. Michael's analysis is nuanced and realistic, not formulaic. As a result, both the nutrition and the lifestyle (exercise, sleep) recommendations are thoughtfully tailored. Tracking data twice a year over several years has provided practical insight into what works and what more is required. In summary, the experience has enabled me to apply numerous helpful changes in a controlled way over time to achieve significant health gains in dealing with Type 2 diabetes. Because Michael's manner is both friendly and professional, I look forward to the check-in sessions as well.
The Bodymapping clinic care. They take the time to unpick the underlying causes and offer sensible and practical advice. Knowing that any question will be answered and you will be listened to is incredibly helpful and encouraging.
I can't recommend this service enough. Michael is extremely helpful and supportive. I found the in-depth analysis particularly informative and also useful in my own reflections on how I could begin to feel better. All of the advice I was given on the changes I could make to see improvements were extremely useful. It hasn't been a quick fix and I'm still on the journey but I can definitely recommend it.
