We have recently sold our property through BBJ Derby branch. I can honestly say pretty much from start to finish the communication, help and advice has been exceptional. A special thank you to Michelle Sillett in the Derby office for always being there to offer support and answering any questions we had. Selling your house is such a stressful time but it was certainly made that little bit easier having these guys as our estate agents. Would definitely use again. Thank you!

Excellent, friendly and efficient service from start to finish. The advice that we received was consistantly first class. The staff at Blenheim Parade worked hard to facilitate a process that took 3 weeks to find a buyer and a a further 10 weeks to conclude the sale.

Boxall brown and Jones are the best estate agent I’ve had the pleasure to deal with, even from the first viewing the service has been phenomenal. Shout out to Louise for all of her help with my queries, she’s amazing!

They’re supposed to be property managers, but completely have no say or authority over the property.

We moved into a house which hadn’t been viewed or inspected by Boxall since the previous tenant moved out, and found it in a completely disgusting state. Cupboards were thick with filth and dust, the carpets were atrocious, the whole house smelt of dog, and the shed roof has been stuffed behind the shed along with a load of other rubbish, the gas oven continuously ignites if switched on at the mains and countless other issues.

Their response? “We’ll compensate you £200 to get the carpets cleaned”. We’ve been in the house for a month and they’ve done nothing except “chase the landlord”. So much for being our “property managers”.

I have recently started renting a property through Boxall Brown & Jones. At first, things seemed good - but when I arrived at the property upon moving in, I noticed many unsatisfactory issues. One being the gas oven hob was faulty, along with the bathroom fan being broken causing mould to start thriving in the bathroom. As well as that there is many other issues such as the carpets being in a disgusting state even after we have paid for them up he professionally cleaned. The shed full of clutter from previous tenants ect.
We have contacted the property managers constantly throughout the last month of moving into our property. No repairs have been carried out and minumal response and replies have been given to us. We are never contacted by boxall brown and jones and always have to contact them for an update. Very disappointed with this service so far. We were told when signing the tenancy agreement that no thorough inspection was carried out after the previous tenants left the property so they were unsure of the state of the property. Due to how they have handled our situation I am concerned about deposit being withheld when we eventually move out because of the issues stated above and do not feel reassured that this company will do right by us.
We are still waiting for any repairs or communication from boxall brown & Jones almost a month later and I feel very annoyed at their attitude towards us seems to be that if they ignore us we will go away.
My advise - find a private landlord and rent through him directly, don’t waste your time with this letting agent as they won’t do anything for you.

forgot the keys.

I didn't sell with Boxall however I did buy off them. I found them very helpful and down to earth, they always replied to my queries asap and the after sales was good as well.

Don't take the risk of renting with Boxall Brown & Jones. During my 5 years of being a tenant, they have excelled at accepting my rent payments. However, once problems arose, they turned out to be inattentive and unresponsive, to the point of unprofessionalism.

In July (nearly 3 months ago), the roof of my apartment building leaked and thoroughly flooded my flat and two others below mine. The leak was repaired by the property management company, but the flat remained damp for weeks and mould started to thrive. It's now nearly the end of October and the only work that has been carried out is cutting a hole in the living room ceiling, to check where the leak was coming from.

Here are some of my observations from the interactions I have had with Boxall Brown & Jones over the past few months:

- If they say they will ring you back, they won't. I fell for this one too many times. They are seemingly stuck in a constant state of "awaiting an update from the insurance company" and "will let you know when we receive a response".
- They didn't update me on the status of the repairs, not even once, during the whole month of September. I had to actively contact them for information. At the same time, their position is that "we do not feel our service has been poor".
- After months of living in a damaged and unsanitary flat, I asked for fair compensation, since I didn't sign a lease for a mouldy flat. Following weeks of back-and-forth emails, they offered a £50 reduction in rent, "as a gesture of good will". I could only assume that this was intended as an insult and declined.
- They never once apologised for the conditions that I was forced to live in, and for the length of time it was taking to for the issue to be rectified.

Before deciding to rent with Boxall Brown & Jones, please have a think about whether you would pay nearly £700/month for a smelly flat with stained and mouldy walls, buckled carpet and a ceiling with a huge hole in the middle of it. I have reported the issue to the council's Housing Standards team as a health and safety matter, and they are investigating.

Friendly, helpful. All went smoothly with sale of my mother's flat.
