I own a problematic investment property that I wanted to sell. I knew that the auction route gave me the best chance to achieve a sale. He kept me informed of developments and fully managed my expectations in terms of the likely saleability of the property and the price I could achieve. Unexpected additional costs
I was initially informed that the buyer’s premium would be £1,950. However, the total additional costs payable came to £5,995, which is over £4,000 more than I expected.
While I understand some of these costs were included within the legal pack and may have been set by the seller, the overall total was not clear to me at the point of bidding.
In a fast-paced auction environment, the difference between the headline price and the total cost can be significant. In my view, a clearer and more prominent breakdown of the full “all-in” cost would help buyers make more informed decisions.
This is based on my personal experience.

I had experience of selling as an executor through a different auction house in the past and it wasn’t good. When it came to selling my own property recently I needed a quick and easy option so chose the auction route again but this time with Bond Wolfe. From the first point of contact with the office through the ensuing valuation , photographs and virtual tour and viewings all the staff demonstrated professionalism and efficiency, all done in a friendly and engaging manner.
