First of all it’s too sweet when compared to other similar brands . Also the packaging is misleading the customer, the packaging has false weight, I mean not the biscuit weight , but the tin as such is made to weigh more so that the customer feels good at first glance, but check the actual biscuit weight from the information on the label. Don’t get fooled by the tin or packaging weight.!!!

This review is on behalf of my mum who had a bad experience with the Christmas pudding with brandy and cider. It has been about 6 weeks with no response from the company at all, so I felt they’d had a chance before I leave this review.
As others have mentioned, the cooking time was far too long and the pudding was barely edible, tough and chewy and hard to even get a spoon through. It also filled her house with a burning smell after overheating in the microwave.
As a result, she attempted to clear the smell by following online instructions (not from Cartwright & Butler) to use boiling water with vinegar in the microwave. She did this and ended up scalding herself; she’s in late 70s with poor health and found this a traumatic experience. This second part is not the fault directly of Cartwright & Butler, but they are certainly a contributor, and we want others to be aware that their cooking instructions are way off the mark as well as customer service being completely unresponsive.

I purchased your Piccalilli and was really disappointed. You say it's Hot which I cannot agree with and got no taste of mustard which I expect from Piccalilli.

Overpriced. The cake was dry and tasted like a cardboard...Price 12 pounds for feeding birds. Hope they will like it?
Turkish delight is a different English version of this treat. Will not buy again, definitely...

I was given a 4oz luxury Christmas Pudding which clearly stated to microwave for two & half minutes. Prior to the full time I could smell burning & removed the pudding from the microwave. Alas it was not edible & had to be thrown out. You need to amend the cooking instructions!!

Ask for a copy invoice for our accounts, no reply or response, we spent over £600.
Will not be using again

I ordered some fudge from Cartwright and Butlers on their website yesterday afternoon. It arrived today at lunchtime. Excellent quality and well packaged. Thank you so much. 😁

Will not use again. My company purchased a hamper for a client and they failed to deliver on the agreed time. We paid extra for the delivery date, and our client’s team who mostly work from home were all in the office for the agreed delivery date. Feeling very frustrated in that we paid more for a delivery that was not honoured, and that we look less than adequate to our client. Have emailed them and their response has yet to arrive.

I've always held C&B products in high regard and love their cranberry & orange minced pies but I just can't take to the winter spiced cranberry & orange shortbread. I always think shortbread flavour inclusions should be subtle but the spiced cranberry & orange is just overwhelming. The texture is lovely, it's just the flavour. Sadly one to avoid

It's terribly said that the employees don't know about their products. I asked for an approximate amount of food items in a particular box, because it was a gift for a team so I wanted to make sure there was enough.
The customer service assistant didn't know, could only tell me the weight of the product. Didn't offer to actually find out.
Rather sad.
Shame, as it looks like a professional, knowledgable company, but clearly isn't.

The Bolton Abbey Hamper is the perfect gift for someone special in your life. It is filled with lots of gorgeous treats and the wicker hamper is stunning.

I ordered Christmas Hampers on the 12th December and was assured they would be delivered before Christmas. Nothing was sent. I contacted C&B three times before Christmas and was assured the hamper would be sent, again nothing was sent. In January, I requested a refund, each week for four weeks I was promised a refund. This was never processed. In March I raised a chargeback.

I was told that I would receive a refund on the 15th of April within 7 to 10 working days. I still haven't received a refund. I phoned customer services and the lady that I spoke to was rude, abrupt and made it clear by her tone that she couldn't be bothered. So now I have to wait another 10 days to see if they can manage to issue me a refund.
They have lovely food, but after this experience I won't be purchasing anything from their website.

Bought a range of chocolate and savoury treats from here. Excellent service dispatched really quickly and all extremely well packaged. The treats in tins will make excellent little gifts when invited for dinner at friends or neighbours. Highly recommend

Sorry Cartwright & Butler I can’t say much about the hamper I purchased as it was a gift. I haven’t seen it either. All I know receiver received it on time on the day I chose. Thank you

Excellent customer service, it would be hard to find something you didn’t like, plus they come in lovely tins that you can reuse, they make ideal presents or if you just wanted to treat yourself

I first heard about your company when I stayed in a hotel in Harrogate. They were delicious chocolates

So I have wanted a hamper for years, so I decided to buy one for myself for Christmas. Amazing food, & treats beautifully packaged. Great talking point as I bring it out for after dinner treats or movie nights, guest get to pick a treat for us to all share, the straw packaging adds to the surprise.

I love C&B products. I especially love the option to design your own hamper. I’ve used it on more than one occasion now and whenever I have gifted it, I always receive many compliments! I would definitely recommend. You won’t regret it.

Ordering was easy and received the two tins of shortbread quickly and promptly. Unfortunately didn't get a chance to sample as they were bought for a gift but I'm sure my aunt loved them ❤️
