Unacceptable Equipment Failure and Breach of Contract

I am writing this review to document a series of severe equipment failures and a breach of contract during our recent round trip with CharterUP from San Antonio, Texas to Carthage, Missouri, from 08/06/2026 to 08/09/2026.
While the driver attempted to assist, the vehicle provided by CharterUP’s local partner was completely unfit for commercial service.
1. Complete Failure of the Air Conditioning System
The AC failed completely on the departure trip, leaving passengers entirely without cooling from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM in severe heat. Passengers were sweating profusely, exhausted, and forced to rely on hand fans. The driver attempted to manually override the system in the luggage compartment, but it was unsuccessful. On the return trip, despite the driver stating he added Freon, the unit failed again around 11:00 AM. The driver’s excuse that the failure was due to 99°F outdoor temperatures is entirely unacceptable for a commercial vehicle.
2. Breach of Contract (No Functional Wi-Fi)
Our contract explicitly guaranteed functional internet service. The Wi-Fi provided on this vehicle was completely unusable due to extremely slow speeds, failing to fulfill the written terms of our agreement.
3. Defective Window Blinds
Two out of the four window shades on the passenger side were broken and unusable. Because of this, passengers were forced to hang personal blankets over the windows just to block out the intense sun and heat.
4. Severe Mechanical & Suspension Issues
The bus experienced violent shaking, excessive vibration, and loud mechanical noises throughout the entire drive. The driver mentioned reducing the tire pressure from 120 PSI to 110 PSI to soften the ride, but this did nothing to mitigate what felt like an underlying, potentially unsafe suspension issue.
Conclusion:
We paid for a reliable, air-conditioned, connected commercial vehicle and instead received a broken-down, miserable experience that put our passengers' comfort and safety at risk. CharterUP needs to take accountability for their third-party operators.
After I filed a complaint, CharterUP said in its reply email:
“We understand these concerns impacted your overall experience, and we’re sorry for any frustration or inconvenience this may have caused. We’ve also documented your feedback on the provider’s profile so it can be taken into consideration for future trips.
 Although we are unable to offer a refund based on the information provided,  we understand that the issues you have outlined impacted your overall experience and would like to offer you a Future Travel Discount for 10% off a future reservation, maximum value of $758. This discount is good for one year through 8/20/2027. You should reference Reservation ID# 1488997 to redeem your discount during your next booking.”
I don’t think I need CharterUP 10% discount for “Future Travel”, but I do need other customers to pay attention to my experiences I have had with this company before signing a contract with CharterUP. According to Google, this is not a bus company. CharterUP does not own or operate buses directly; instead, it acts as a middleman booking local partner companies.
So please read everyone’s review before deciding.

We hired CharterUp for wedding day transportation on August 22, 2026, and the experience was deeply disappointing.
The driver had significant difficulty communicating in English, which created immediate challenges. He was relying on an outdated GPS system that repeatedly failed to navigate correctly, causing him to get lost multiple times. As a result, our wedding ceremony was delayed by 30 minutes — an inexcusable disruption on one of the most important days of our lives.
To salvage the situation, members of our wedding party had to physically sit at the front of the bus and manually provide directions for the remainder of the trip just to ensure we reached our destinations at all.
This level of service is completely unacceptable for a professional transportation company, especially for a wedding. We would not recommend CharterUp to any couple entrusting them with their special day.

The charter bus trip was very pleasant.

Your company was great to work with, especially Eric Zapata. However, the bus company you provided for us was not good at all !! Probably the worst bus I have ever been on !

All I can say is me and my family were extremely blessed and thankful for the transportation that you provided. Ahmed was professional. Friendly, competent, and punctual. It was perfect. We were traveling to a funeral 2 hours away. We were taken to the church, then to the burial ground, then back to the church for the repast and then home. If we ever need a ride again we will choose charter up. And we would like Ahmed as well. Thank you for every thing.

We had a wonderful experience using their charter bus for our wedding in Rhode Island! The bus was clean, on time, and accommodating. We especially loved being able to connect our own music. Highly recommend their services!
