Non stop calling.
I’ve emailed them to stop and they denied it’s even their branch, even though it’s for Colchester.
Literally being harassed by them at this point.

We initially chose Chewton Rose Colchester office because of Nick Curtis, who was fantastic to work with. Nick had helped us before on a purchase and was always professional, proactive, and supportive. Unfortunately, just after we sold our house through them, Nick left the agency — and we wasn't even told.
From that point on, the service collapsed. For over a month after his departure, we had no meaningful contact from anyone at Chewton Rose. When selling a property, you expect your agents to chase buyers, resolve issues, and provide regular updates — that’s what you’re paying for. Instead, we were met with silence.
What communication we did manage to get was dismissive, arrogant, and unprofessional, showing total disregard for our concerns and feelings at what was already a stressful time. Their lack of action and underperformance meant we had to do the work ourselves — sourcing critical updates from solicitors, estate agents and even contacting our buyers directly. Even our sellers estate agent who was a godsend helped us more than our own agents, Chewton Rose. This is unacceptable when you are paying a premium fee for a professional service.
Chewton Rose once had a strong reputation, but sadly that is long gone. Based on our experience, we would strongly advise prospective customers to think very carefully before instructing them. If you’re fortunate enough to deal with Nick Curtis, (wherever he now is) you’ll be looked after — but this agency itself has now completely lost its way.

I went on Zoopla and requested a valuation for a remortgage not just from Chewton rose but other companies too. Chewton Rose will not leave me alone even after saying I wasn’t interested! I have been called nearly 20 times, I have blocked the number but still get texts messages and it won’t let me block the texts! But I get these at least twice a day asking me to call!

This is by far the worst agency I’ve encountered in the UK—especially agent BARRY MARNER. They listed my property with completely inaccurate details: copied descriptions, an incorrect floor number, and no floorplan provided. I was pressured into signing sales terms, but once the paperwork was done, all communication ceased. Despite repeatedly reaching out and even receiving promises of a callback, I heard nothing since THREE months ago. I strongly advise against using this agency.

Very impersonal experience.
I never got sent my offer in writing and the last I was told was as soon as they hear any information they would call me, I was waiting daily, I called the office 3 times leaving my name and phone number - no one called me back. I then thought I’d drive past the house to see a sold sign had gone up!
A simple email or 2 minute phone call to say I hadn’t been successful would have been polite.
Would never recommend due to this

Constant harassing phone calls, voicemail, text messages, just leave me the hell alone 😡 bunch of idiots

Sarah in their Ascot office was always charming and helpful whenever we met. Always ready to offer advice and reassurance throughout the whole selling process up until completion. I would recommend Chewton Rose - a very professional team.

If your property is worth over a million, then your experience may differ, however, if it's not, then learn from our experience. Communication is very hit and miss and I include in this essential information that jeopardizes your sale; you are not their priority. They promise 'cutting edge technology and innovative marketing', and yet, they struggle with the basics; for example, omitting mention of a key feature of the house location in their marketing and, remarkably, given their claims, a lack of working knowledge of their own website. Foolishly, we forgave them one error after another because, at the time, we felt the photographs and floorplan had been done and didn't want to waste any more time. That was our mistake, I admit, however, all of the above (and there is more) lost us our sale, and that mistake lies firmly at their door.

Chewton Rose service is excellent , they go and above and beyond, I highly recommend them , in particular Barry and Sarah , are very professional and they were available at all times to guide and help me on purchasing my dream property.
I would have no hesitation in recommending them and would definitely use them again in the future.

We set off on our journey to sell our house and purchase our new home last year. We've experienced our fair share of estate agents and I whilst Steven and the team at Chewton Rose represented our sellers (not us), we found their service, reliability and support outstanding. We've dealt with some big names and some local ones....none come close!

Steven from day one offered nothing but time, advise and prompt communication throughout the buying process of his clients home and whilst the five month ordeal allowed us to develop a nice relationship with Steven, he was objective and done his best to balance the needs and priorities of his clients and us as buyers.

A lot of estate agents could learn a few things from these guys. No nonsense, honest, reliable and pick up the phone!

We're not planning to sell anytime soon, but when we do, Steven will be getting the call!

Excellent service from beginning to end! Found everyone extremely professional, following all the guidelines when showing people around our house. Marketing material was excellent and led to a quick sale with us being kept fully informed throughout. We would have no hesitation in recommending Barry and his team to anyone.

Barry has been so incredibly supportive, of this process. He and his team have been brilliant, always helpful. I would completely recommend Chewton Rose as a go to Estate Agent for the area.

After trying several national estate agents, we appointed Chewton Rose to sell 2 large houses for us in Winkield. This was during lockdown, I was particularly pleased with the way the handled the viewings in difficult (lockdown) circumstances. We would certainly chose Chewton Rose if ever we build houses in this area again.

Having recently sold our house we wanted to view a property on CR website
in Bramcote Lane, Nottingham. Phoned CR on afternoon 22nd May and after several attempts got through to what they said was their 'Concierge Desk'. Took my details and said someone would call to arrange a viewing and explain viewing process probably not that evening but next day, Saturday. By Tuesday 26th after Bank Holiday still no-one had called back. Phoned again in the morning and afternoon and after several attempts and leaving messages eventually got through and like before told this was Concierge Desk they could only take messages. I explained I'd rung before and was told very sorry someone will make new note of contact details and get back to you either later or tomorrow latest.

No-one has ever phoned me back - that's a week ago! No-one ever chased up the contact or discussed a viewing. Meantime we viewed a house in West Bridgford with another agent and made an offer this week.

We recently bought a property through Chewton Rose. The service we received was excellent, it was what I expected, unfortunately these days that is not always the case. I would to single out Belinda Bishop for being available every time I called, answering my questions either straight away or within a more than acceptable timeframe.

If you want to sell your house, you have to use Sarah Farrington of Chewton Rose, Ascot. We sold and then bought a house with her last year and she was the ultimate professional.She returns emails and calls immediately, keeps you completely up to date with progress and is really lovely too! As a company, they do not inflate property prices just to get your business, they are honest I trusted their advice. Thanks Sarah at Chewton Rose.

We have just sold our last plot of 3 through the Nottingham Chewton Rose and the staff there have been brilliant. As it was an unusual site with a few problems, we had a large number of viewings and the last plot took over a year to go through. Graham Lang patiently stuck with us and helped out chasing solicitors to move things along. I would certainly recommend them if you have a house to sell and would definitely use them again in the future. Thank you Graham!
