Over the past three months, I have used Dahabshiil for several transactions to support family in Kenya. I acknowledge the majority of the transactions were processed in accordance with service agreements.
Unfortunately, I have had severe difficulties with one specific transaction that was declined as the receipient, without my prior knowledge, was registered with Airtel and not Safaricom
After a delay of two full weeks, and several failed attempts to speak to customer service agents, I contacted the complaints separtment by email.
This was responded within 24-hours and I then learnt the reason why the transaction was declined. I requested an immediate and full refund and this was agreed. I also managed to transfer the original amount using an alternative money transfer platform.
In the meantime, despite this company's policy to refund the payment within 7 days if the transfer is not paid, and my specific requests to have the refund paid to my Dahabshiil Wallet, Dahabshiil then progressed the "suspended" payment to be paid to the original receipient. Dahabshiil clearly declined my repeated instructions.
Regretfully, the company's agents are very difficult to contact, calls are very raraly answered, voicemail messages are not responded and the "chat service" is NON-existing. Based on this one single transaction, I rate Dahabshiil as unprofessional.

This was my first time using your service and I must say I was impressed with how quickly the money reached the recipient and also with the recipient being able to receive the money in USD instead of shillings although it took me quite some time to figure out how to do this. It was a bit disappointing to find out that this is not possible with pounds sterling though. Otherwise great service which I will use again in future. The free fee offer for first time user was also very helpful. Thank you

I had a very disappointing experience with Dahabshiil's customer service. Their phone lines were unreachable, and the chat service was unresponsive, despite what it claims. After I made my payment, the status remained pending for an entire week, and I couldn't get any assistance from customer service. Ultimately, I was able to resolve the issue through email and received a refund.

The only down side is that, i have request my beneficiary to receive in local curreny but he received the money in US dollar then exchange in local money again.
