If you don't take their extra insurance…

If you don't take their extra insurance fees, they'll find anyway to make you pay more than your original booking price.
I gave the car back during the night, and they found a tiny scratch near the backseat window, that you could not see with your eyes. You could only feel it with your finger.
I suppose that light scratch was already there when i took the car or they quicly made it when they checked the car.
I had to pay 400€ for that invisible scratch.

I had a traumatic experience with Direct Rent A Car Bacău and its representative, Alex. On Jan 17th, during return, I was subjected to literal financial blackmail. The owner alleged a windshield crack and explicitly threatened that if I didn't pay €1,000 ON THE SPOT, he would withhold my entire €2,183 security deposit. Knowing I had a flight to catch in minutes, he used this pressure to force me to sign and pay under extreme duress.
​Even more disturbing, the owner admitted to stalking my movements via GPS "every single day" of the rental—a massive breach of privacy and GDPR. When I legally demanded the office CCTV footage of our encounter, he flatly refused.

​To make matters worse, the car I was given was a wreck: an extremely used vehicle with over 175,000 km on the odometer and significant pre-existing damage. Charging €1,000 for a "damage" on such a high-mileage, poorly maintained car is a clear scam. This is not a business; it’s a trap for travelers. Official complaints have been filed with ANPC, and Data Protection authorities.

Am avut o experiență traumatizantă cu Direct Rent A Car Bacău și reprezentantul acesteia, Alex. Pe 17 ianuarie, la returnare, am fost supus unui șantaj financiar în toată regula.

Administratorul mi-a imputat o daună la parbriz și m-a amenințat explicit că, dacă nu plătesc 1.000 EUR PE LOC, îmi va opri întreaga garanție de 2.183 EUR. Știind că am zbor în câteva minute, a folosit această presiune pentru a mă forța să semnez și să plătesc sub constrângere.
​Și mai grav, administratorul a recunoscut că mi-a urmărit deplasările prin GPS în fiecare zi a închirierii – o încălcare flagrantă a vieții private și a GDPR. Când am solicitat legal accesul la înregistrările CCTV din birou pentru dovezi, am fost refuzat categoric.

Notez si ca mașina primită a fost un vehicul extrem de uzat, cu peste 175.000 km la bord și numeroase daune pre-existente. Să ceri 1.000 EUR pentru o "daună" la o mașină cu un asemenea rulaj și într-o stare atât de proastă este o tentativă clară de escrocherie. Această firmă este o capcană pentru călători. Am depus plângeri oficiale la ANPC și Autoritatea pentru Protecția Datelor.

Alles! Eerst zeggen ze dat je 30.000 euro borg moet betalen. Die kan naar beneden voor 200 euro tot 400 euro totaal.

Bij terugkomst moet je zorgen dat je minimaal 2 boksbeugels bij je hebt want de security Inc pepperspray staat al klaar vanwege dezelfde truuk als hier overal omschreven staat. De binnenkant beschadigd door de koffer. Na 4 pogingen aan de buitenkant die we bewezen hadden met een video van 6 minuten (Ja wij zagen dit aankomen) was de binnenkant aan de beurt want ja wie filmt dan ook de binnenkant. Helemaal achterin zat namelijk een plekje waar zogenaamd de koffer tegenaan was gekomen. Hier wilde ze 160 euro voor hebben.

De Roemeense goden waren met hem, want hij kwam eindelijk tot gezond verstand toen ik hem net niet 8 tanden uit zijn smoel sloeg bedacht hij dat ik toch niet de juiste persoon was voor deze actie.

Wij kregen onze borg terug alleen onder hartslag 169 ga je hier niet vandaan.

Zorg dat je je niet laat naaien door deze vampier kraaien. Groetjes Jens van tv

If I could put zero stars I would!
Arrived to pick up my car and the guy said because I don't have credit card (only debit) he would charge me deposit of 100€ that I'd get back and then a flat fee of 160€ to be able to have the car even thought I booked it and paid through lastminute.com!!!
He was really aggressive and rude! He said it was in the terms and conditions but it isn't written anywhere that I'd have to pay a flat fee and he said I was too stupid to understand the T&C's!
They didn't drive me back to the airport I had to get an uber! And I rented a car throught a proper agency (Avis) and they were great!

Appalling Experience – Refused Service and Left Stranded


I booked and paid for my car through Booking.com. When I arrived at the Direct Rent counter to pick it up, there was a transaction error with my card. Instead of trying the card again or offering any assistance, the staff refused to help, told me to call Booking.com myself, and then kicked me out of the office.
Their location is far from the airport and not easily accessible, so I had to walk back on my own. This was the most appalling experience I’ve ever had with a car rental company. I lost time, money, and energy — and received zero support or understanding.
I strongly advise others to avoid this company and rent from a more professional and customer-oriented provider.

BEWARE of SCAM

BEWARE of SCAM. They offer very appealing price for bookings, but as our flight was delayed and we arrived 1.5 hours late, they cancelled our reservation and wanted to charge us 7 times the price. Very opportunistic!

I strongly recommend staying away from…

I strongly recommend staying away from this car rental company. This was probably the worst rental experience we have ever had, and we travel a lot.

We had already paid for a six-day car rental. Unfortunately, our flight was delayed, but we informed the rental company in advance by phone, letting them know we would arrive two hours later. Even during that call, the staff member was unfriendly and unhelpful.

When we finally arrived at their office, the problems escalated. First, they tried to claim that our card wasn’t a credit card because it had the word “business” printed on it. When that argument failed, they eventually told us that our reserved and fully paid car had already been given to someone else, simply because we were two hours late. This explanation made no sense to us – the car was reserved and paid for, so why couldn’t it wait two hours longer? One of the employees even compared it to a flight, saying, “If you’re late, a plane won’t wait for you either.” This was a ridiculous excuse – a plane carries hundreds of passengers, while the car was reserved only for us.

After a long and very unpleasant discussion, they offered us the only car left but demanded an additional €180. At that point, we called Booking, through which we had made the reservation, to explain the situation. To make matters worse, we were traveling with a baby, and the staff clearly saw this but still made everything more difficult. The Booking agent was very understanding – she confirmed that we could cancel the reservation, assured us we would get a refund, and even asked to speak with the rental company staff. One of the employees rudely pretended he didn’t have time to talk to her, and another, who I believe was named Valentino, eventually took the call but was also far from polite.

Thankfully, we were able to cancel the reservation and rent a car at another company nearby – Klass Wagen. The experience there was completely different: we paid only €90 instead of over €280, the staff were very friendly, and even though we arrived two hours before our booking officially started, they immediately gave us a car without any issues. On top of that, they upgraded us to a better model because the one we originally booked wasn’t available.

In the end, everything worked out well, but we went through a huge amount of unnecessary stress. Our holiday, which was supposed to start pleasantly, began in a very negative way because of this rental company. They also showed us their contract, which stated that you can only be late by one hour – but in my opinion, such terms should be reviewed by a lawyer, because just because something is written in a contract doesn’t automatically make it legal.

I don’t usually wish anyone bad, but I truly hope that someone will one day investigate this company’s practices. They operate by trying to squeeze more money out of customers, as can be seen from many other negative reviews as well. Their employees behave in an unprofessional and dishonest way, and in my opinion, such people should not be allowed to work with customers.

Organised criminal scammers. AVOID.

We booked via booking dot com. After we returned the car they claimed there was damage (there was not) and that tolls hasn’t been paid (they had), clearly well coordinated experienced scammers. Fraudulently took money from our credit card without permission.

Absolute scam. Avoid!

Booked a car through a broker

Booked a car through a broker, one bored driver collected me from the airport , and then they requested me to purchase extra insurance for the car. The price demanded was ridiculous, so I had to deny. They would not give my a lift back to the airport at 2.00am, I had to call a taxi in the middle of nowhere.
I would avoid this scammers at any time.

Direct Rent was the worst car rental…Scammers — irresponsible, dishonest, and shamelessly opportunistic.

Direct Rent was the worst car rental experience of my life.
Scammers — irresponsible, dishonest, and shamelessly opportunistic.
Even though I booked the car from Denmark through Lastminute, when I arrived in Bucharest, I discovered they had no office at the airport and not even a shuttle bus.
After waiting for an hour, I found their number on Google and called, only to be told: “Because you arrived one hour late, we gave the car to someone else.”
Are you kidding me? I paid for the car for an entire week!
They take your money and then come up with ridiculous excuses to avoid giving you the vehicle.
No commitment, no work ethic, and absolutely zero respect for customers.
In short — if you don’t want your trip to turn into hell, stay far away from Direct Rent.

Denuncia de estafa y malas prácticas en la devolución de vehículo - CARWIZ Rent a Car -, Aeropuerto de Bucarest

Al devolver el vehículo, con tiempo suficiente antes de nuestro vuelo a Madrid, un empleado realizó una inspección exhaustiva sin encontrar ningún daño relevante. Sin embargo, tras llamar a su superior, este se dirigió directamente a una marca prácticamente invisible en la parte interna de la puerta del conductor, de tamaño diminuto, apenas perceptible y que perfectamente podría haber estado allí antes de nuestro alquiler. Al manifestar nuestra disconformidad y señalar la imposibilidad de demostrar lo contrario –pues, aunque grabamos un vídeo del exterior del coche al recogerlo, jamás se nos ocurriría registrar con detalle microscópico el interior de la puerta–, el trato recibido fue hostil y desafiante.
No conformes con esto, revisaron el maletero y señalaron otro roce insignificante en la parte inferior del guarnecido, igualmente inapreciable y que, de nuevo, podría haber existido previamente. A pesar de nuestras protestas y de la evidente falta de pruebas de que estos daños fueran ocasionados por nosotros, el responsable nos coaccionó: si queríamos tomar nuestro vuelo, debíamos abonar, sin alternativa, 400€ por estos supuestos desperfectos.
Solicitamos la hoja de reclamaciones, a lo que se negaron rotundamente. Ante tal arbitrariedad, intentamos llamar a la policía para que constatara la inexistencia de daños reales o, al menos, levantara un atestado y denunciar igualmente la no entrega de la hoja de reclamaciones. Los empleados, lejos de mostrarse colaborativos, se burlaron abiertamente de nosotros.
La inminente salida de nuestro vuelo y la ausencia de respuesta policial nos dejó sin opciones: nos vimos obligados a pagar los 400€ impuestos de manera totalmente discrecional. Al firmar el recibí de la factura, añadí la mención “No conforme por coger el avión”, lo que provocó la ira de los empleados, quienes nos retiraron los documentos y nos forzaron a firmar sin ninguna reserva, bajo la amenaza de no firmar la recepción del coche y hacernos perder el vuelo.
En resumen, CARWIZ Rent a Car -y quienes los contratan- demuestran ser una empresa que opera mediante prácticas abusivas y fraudulentas, aprovechándose de la indefensión y la urgencia de los clientes. Exigen pagos arbitrarios por daños inexistentes o insignificantes, sabiendo que la premura de los viajeros les impide defenderse o recurrir legalmente en el momento. Esta conducta, repetida sistemáticamente, les permite enriquecerse a costa de la buena fe de los usuarios y actuar con total impunidad, llegando incluso a mofarse de quienes intentan reclamar sus derechos.
Solicito encarecidamente que se tomen medidas contra este tipo de prácticas y se advierta a futuros clientes para que no sean víctimas de este tipo de estafas.

SCAM ALERT

SCAM ALERT - This rental company operates on a deceptive model. They advertise extremely low prices to lure customers in, but then impose a requirement: your credit card must be embossed – a condition that is not only outdated but impossible to meet for most customers in Europe, where embossed cards are no longer issued.

Once on site, you're told that your card doesn't meet their requirements for basic/medium insurance cover, even if it’s a valid credit card. The only “solution” they offer? Pay the maximum insurance fee. Funnily enough, after you pay this inflated amount, your previously “unacceptable” card is suddenly fine to use.

This feels like a deliberate trap to force customers into expensive insurance packages they didn’t agree to. It’s a scammy practice that needs to be flagged. Read the fine print very carefully — or better yet, rent elsewhere.
