Whilst there is no denying these people have somehow positioned themselves with some high profile production companies. They themselves are beyond amateurish in the way they operate. Frequently getting dates/bookings mixed up, inexcusably uncommunicative, pushy and downright rude. They’re so disorganised and when they do make a mistake will do all they can to blame it on you. Dealing with them, frankly feels like your engaging with a bunch leaderless students. And above all, if you’re seeking work as an extra (or SA), to them, their client is the film company NOT you! To them, you are at the very bottom of the pecking order and you’ll be quickly reminded of this. They will threaten to drop you at a moment’s notice and we are all, apparently, replaceable!! Be careful with these people. I question whether they’d get as much work if these film companies actually knew what they were like and how they treated people.

No better than used car salesmen. I don't trust what they say. Extra People cancelled me the day before my fitting date and then I received an angry phone call on the day of my cancelled fitting asking "where the hell are you?!" and demanded I show up to a fitting I was told I was already cancelled for. Excuse me, but you sent me an email saying I was cancelled for all the dates. That's not my fault.

I felt stressed and pressured to say yes to the job again on the spot, even though I had already made other plans after being cancelled. I even managed to show up to the fitting the same day last minute and was still hassled when I got there. Then, after the first filming day, I confirmed with the Assistant Director four days of filming the next week. Next thing I know, I am cancelled AGAIN for the rest of the "confirmed" filming dates. I took time out of my regular job to work on the filming dates and the Assistant Director knew I had to request the days off from my job! He said I was confirmed for sure! How are people supposed to plan their lives? Shame on you!

To make matters worse, I was verbally assaulted by one of the older makeup artists on set on the first day of filming on "My Lady Jane". That woman was so unbelievably rude and xenophobic towards me. Being an American living abroad, I am aware of every stereotype under the sun that exists for Americans in foreign places. She started to say "I would never want to live in America in a million years. I don't like the way your country does things and I honestly hate your gun laws." But then she continued for the next hour or so saying "Here in the UK, we don't do that!" and "I hate this..." and "I hate that..." about the United States.

First, I was just taken aback but then I started to get a little offended because the way that woman kept speaking to me was like I wasn't meant to be here. I thought that was a little ironic because Prince Harry and Meghan Markle live in my home state and seem to like living there.

I live here in the UK, too. Here in the UK, I would prefer to feel safe in the country I'm living in and feel safe to show up to ANY job and not feel like I'm going to be verbally assaulted by somebody for just existing on a makeup chair. Isn't this normally what people do on these extra jobs is show up and get their makeup and hair done and as long as you're not being obnoxious, then there shouldn't be anything wrong? She only seemed to want to be self-righteous and insult me and be indignant, but she didn't want to acknowledge that I was an actual human being.

I had a difficult time putting together what the moral of this story was, but I think it's this:

I should not be afraid of existing. My presence is welcome wherever my presence is. As long as I'm not overstepping on other people's liberties, then I don't need to be afraid to just be. The way other people react to me, I just can't predict it. Some people will love me exactly the way I am and some people are going to HATE me for just being me.

I think that's the moral I took out of it. I also kind of took out of it a slightly nationalistic thing about how we probably shouldn't be so mean to people across borders because we don't know what their stories are or are what they were trying to do for the day. Maybe that woman had a horrible day and I just happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back.

I can't think of any other job in the UK that treats its "talent" so poorly, always messes you around, viewed as disposable cattle and fires people left and right all the time. Human slaves and fast food workers at McDonald's are treated better than this. At least McDonald's workers can rely on the shifts they are given, since they will actually work and get paid.

Extra People are unprofessional and just play with people. Don’t be fooled, this company does not care about you at all. Without us, you don’t have a business! Treat me like crap, see ya later! I am tired of being messed around by you guys and deregistered from your agency.

They underpaid me for a job and ignore my emails.

I have learnt from my experience with 'Extras' that the film industry is very fickle. After being accepted and then faced with the 'We may want you, not sure if we do' attitude, I was invited to the production site for a Covid test and costume fitting. Then I was moved on to the hair and make-up. All good so far. 5 days later I was sent a contract of employment to sign for the film shoot. Duly signed, I then felt confident to book and pay for 3 nights accommodation near the film site. Next day I was told 'Thank you very much but we don't want you after all!' 'Extras' do have lives outside filming so please be more considerate and don't mess us around.

I have been with Extra People for a while now and enjoying my time with them , i belonged to another agency before joining EP and i had no work for 2 and half years from them but joining EP i am getting some work coming. i do understand you have to wait for your money which is 6 to 8 weeks which not a problem and they do pay on time or just before. Very professional and always answer my emails or queries, one tip i will give is always keep your profile up to date, i do mine every 3 weeks.

They take forever to approve you images when you want to update thenm.And then you wonder why you don’t receive AVs off them :-(

I had a nice experience with Extra People. I tried a lot of apps and websites but this is one of the best. They pay at time , and staff is nice . Not every time is jobs . My last experience was to have offer for job for TV Series The Crown.

Ive been with Extra People for 3 years now as an SA and have really enjoyed the experience. Tom Walker and his team are very professional, the work is fabulous, very varied, always different. Their instructions are always very clear eg. call times, parking availability etc. Its been a wonderful experience, I thoroughly recommend it!

I've been with this agency for about 3/4 years. As an S.A I have had many jobs , but sometimes I can't get to them. Or they send me last minute jobs. They have given me jobs for big feature films and series just a shame that I can't get to these places via public transport ( most of them) i am grateful that I always get a job in ma inbox. And I constantly update my profile and photos. People saying there never got jobs etc. Well are you updating your photos information etc ? When I do get jobs near me I do apply. They also know I am autistic and adhd.. all I ask if you would like to give me last minute jobs near me can you at least do it like 3 days before not 1 day.. other than that this is a great agency.. I don't know about payments as I've never took a job from them. But they do say 4 weeks after work is done. And thanks for having me on board

I've been with Extrapeople for about two years now, I'm a 45-year old man based in King's Cross. They do put me forward for a lot of jobs in and around London and I get most of my work from them, I've had some very memorable jobs. As with any extra casting agency, they are at the mercy of YOUR PHOTOS and THE FILM PRODUCTION COMPANY's decisions. It makes a huge difference if you put up good clear clean background photos of yourself. These go onto the POP platform that the majority of the agencies use, including Extrapeople. Sometimes agencies do not get back to you if you have not been selected and this can play havoc with your diary, but it doesn't happen most of the time. In my experience Extrapeople do work hard to put their artists forward for a large amount of jobs if you are reliable and communicative, getting back to their enquiries promptly. Patience and a "water off a duck's back" attitude are essential working as an extra. And you mustn't be too put off being sent to all four corners of London at short notice.

Extra People have been instrumental in recruiting into a fun and engaging occupation. Tom Walker and Team are great folk to work with. Happy to be on board.

Horrible service, amateur staff, delaying on their payments, etc. I’m giving them 1 star but I would actually like to give them -25 stars, horrible company stay away from this one.
