The platform definitely prioritizes safety in the rental experience, which is nice, but the process takes a bit too long. ID verification could be smoother. It would better if the platform gave you the option to complete the ID verification as soon as you sign up instead of initiating it when you go to confirm a rental, when the verification then causes a delay in renting. Verification should also be instantaneous. I don't get why an agent has to review it. I've implemented online verifications using ID and facial recognition in an app and a manual review should not be necessary most of the time. It also would not let me do a same-day rental even though I had confirmed the pick up time for the equipment. Having said all that, the app worked well for my purpose.

Simple, easy and effective

Made a booking on 15 of April for 16-18 2024, they asked me to submit my ID drivers license, 3 Months statements, Invoice that is issued for the event I am renting equipment for. Conducted a 5 minute interview with verification team, contacted them on the email to follow up because I urgently need equipment, but all emails are simply ignored. And if you try to cancel order they want 40%, while the day of your booking already started on 16 and they haven't completed verification on their side. On the site they clearly state that is verification takes 10-60 minutes but that not the case.

Found what I wanted via Google. Had never heard of Fat Llama before. It worked well for me this time and I would certainly try it again.

I was nervous renting out my equipment for the first time however I had a really good experience. Fat Llmama’s platform made it simple and easy to communicate in safety with the person renting my gear. The set up of listing items and getting paid is really simple. I highly recommend.

Using this app is simple & easy, messaging between parties is usually responsive.

I signed up for this service it's clearly states in terms up to an hour for verification. My verification took 2 days. They took 87.50 out of my account BEFORE verification. I sent everything they needed that was not enough they then rang asking VERY personal questions. I gave all this to the person on the phone. 10 mins later I had an email asking for everything I had already given her on the phone. She then sent another email saying is this your portfolio, nothing in the email to check??
My shoot is Saturday and then then decide I can't rent the items. Still took money from my account though.
Total joke staff are useless. I was thinking of renting my gear out on this site but after this joke experience, most definitely not

First time renting equipment through Fat Llama and couldn't have been an easier experience. I needed a zoom lens very last minute and managed to find the exact lens I needed, book it out and return it all within the same day from a very friendly renter. Communication was great and the equipment was received as advertised. A great experience :)

Probably a good idea but a terrible website - is now blocked because I don’t want to open account but insists on verifying my phone number which blocks the page

I love Fat Llamma’s service and it’s always cheaper, easier to use and better connected to people in my area than alternative rental options. I’ll be using again soon!

Poor/unprofessional customer service. Rejected government ID and utility bills as proof of address, unnecessarily delaying the account opening process. I requested but not received any explanation why so I had to spend hours uploading various other forms of identification (and a lot of personal data that I’m now concerned about Fat Llama having access to).

I’ve updated to 4 stars as the service/community has been great so far.

The whole service was very easy to navigate, from searching for a pressure washer, to finding a rental nearby, through to the picking up and returning it. This is such a great idea. The alternative would have been purchasing a pressure washer for a job we really only need to do once - Fat Llama made things better for the environment and our pockets!

Great way to hire good quality kit

On the customer's side, everything is great. Customer service is fast and professional, app/website has an easy interface, service charge is not too much. It saves me so much time when I need something.

If you're interested in renting equipment, company insures you and tries to get all kinds of verifications and confirmations before setting you up with the customer.

Overall 10/10 experience everytime.

This is an absolutely brilliant website and service! They have great customer service, very speedy and friendly. I didn't encounter any issues throughout my rental. Its great to be able to rent directly from people, ingenious service. Highly recommend to use this website for your rental purposes! Although I don't have anything I am renting out, I can tell that Fat Llama goes out of their way to protect their renters- because they put me through a series of checks to ensure I am legit, in order to protect their renters. 5 stars and beyond!
