I wrote to FORCES WAR RECORDS two days after taking a subscription. Advising that I had changed my mind re the service. They could not provide me any beneficial information.
I have not had a reply to my request.

We needed assistance in understanding various abbreviations and location of postings in my fathers war service records. Our request was handled very promptly and effectively by Forces War records. Great service, Thank you.

Fantastic resource for finding out about my families military history

Was sent a record for Edward Barker of The Herefordshire Regiment but it showed me a Sailor with a completely different name.

Forces War Records I wouldn't bother your time or money, I foolishly subscribed after possibly finding my father records on a free trial but only given Name/Date. So after a while I decided to except a discounted price 36.61 Euro for a year subscription, so this time it came up with Name/Date/Place of enrollment. I contacted help customer care to see if they could enlighten me, regarding my fathers records & where to find detailed info. to this date received no answer bar one confirming my subscription, I decided 2days into my 14 cooling off period to cancel & request a full refund & again received no emails regarding my Refund request.
29/4/2022 Update...
After reading my review (Forces War Records) contacted me and refunded my subscription fee, I'll say no more on this matter.

I joined this site to find out more about family members in WW1. Despite having their names, ranks, unit, joining date and number this site could not find them. What a waste of money. Itâs not fit for purpose and I am going to try and get refunded. I had more info from ancestry.com. Just found out itâs also a scam you canât cancel.

A fascinating resource, so interesting.

Forces War Records ããã®åç
Only of limited use. As others have said,it's a portal to other resources, where you have to pay more. Take out a subscription, take what you want, then cancel.

I booked a researcher pre-Christmas to look into my grandfathers WW2 war record, and was informed by customer service that this would take up to 90 days. I checked in again in April and was then told that there was a backlog to late 2020, and that my research would not even start for another 6 months. Have requested a refund - an am hoping this will come through without further ado

So far great! Just re-joined. Hope to use a great deal from here.

Forces War Records ããã®åç
When I asked a question, I did not the expect the Customer Care researcher to do such a thorough job of trying to locate records. The information I obtained on these records was exactly what I had been hoping to find. Thanks for such great service!!

Website is easy to use although the more information you already have the easier it is to narrow down a search. The suggested follow-up records are a bonus

Forces War Records ããã®åç
The site is valuable despite the fact that I haven't yet, found my father who served in the Royal Navy during WWII. I first looked at Forces War Records a few years ago and since then it has improved massively to become a serious resource for family historians.

Awesome research tool and friendly, approachable staff! My only recommendation is if it were possible to break entries down into Empire/ Commonwealth/ Dominion nations so that I can look under Australia for example, without having to sift through an inordinate number of British entries? Anyway, nonetheless, you are all to be commended on a wonderful online institution! Thank you so much!
Yours Sincerely, Charles Paul.

I have recieved a number records for E Brown but none remotely match my fathers identity.

Tracing my grandfather's cousin has proved elusive but eventually I found him in the wounded lists. I guess his unit records may be among the burned records that did not survive. Finding my grandfather's records a bonus - the researcher sent me some very singed survivor records. Great service, thanks.
