I now own 5 beautiful trees from Frank p Matthews. 2 crabapples I purchased from a verified supplier 1 year ago, which are thriving. Most recently, I have used the online shop and ordered separately 2 magnolias and 1 lilac tree. The lady on customer service and email was so helpful changing an order for me. When I received my trees I was absolutely made up at the size and condition of my Magnolia Elizabeth and dark tulip loads of healthy buds, very healthy condition, and very safely packaged and most recently my primrose lilac again very healthy condition and size. Cannot wait to see them flower and love them for years to come. Thank you

The trees we ordered arrived quickly and safely, well packaged, and are excellent specimens. Now safely planted we look forward to the spring.

Bought a Fig tree in March and this saturday brought it back for the 3rd time to check on its health... Surprise Surprise its dead.. despite 2 experts HaHa, telling me it was fine, conflicting advice, incorrect facts, this is a nursey that prides itself on quality, staff NO, Trees NO, Shame we were looking to buy several fruit trees for a orchard.... Training is a good idea

I bought several juvenile fruit trees from Frank P. Matthews a year ago. Most of them are fine, but the peach tree (Peregrine) showed signs of peach leaf curl. I removed the leaves last year, but it has returned with a vengeance this year, despite the dry spring weather. As I do not want the disease to spread to the almond and apricot I also bought, I wrote to the company advising of the situation, saying I was going to have to destroy the tree, and asking for a refund -- the tree was clearly sold to me diseased, as I live in the countryside where no-one for miles around has anything other than apples and pears. My complaint has not been taken seriously by Lilly, the member of the sales team whom it has been my misfortune to deal with. I am afraid she either does not understand the disease or has been attempting to mislead me in order to fob me off. First she said that peach leaf curl was "purely a cosmetic issue", attempting to minimise it in a way that suggests many of their trees have the disease. Then, when I provided evidence to the contrary from numerous websites (it weakens and can kill a tree), she said that it is "spread through the rain so wouldn’t have carried from our site due to it being fungal not bacterial" (again, wrong: the fungal spores are airborne, and the fungus overwinters in the bark and buds). And she doubled down on the idea that it has no impact on the tree. In other words, Frank P Matthews sees no issue in selling diseased trees, or in gaslighting customers who contact them with complaints. Avoid this company!

Frank P Matthews' trees seem to be the best quality out there, always well presented with informative colour labels and excellent shape and size. The website is full of interesting and useful information too!

Excellent service from the landscape team. Very friendly and efficient and the work was done quickly with no mess left behind.

I have ordered a number of trees online with Frank P Matthews for the last year or two and have received excellent specimens each and every time. They have one of the widest ranges of trees of any mail order tree company I have found so far! Every tree i have ordered has been packaged and delivered professionally and the trees have been in top condition!

Great choice of trees, excellent communication, small glitch with delivery which was rapidly dealt with and the tree itself - which was a gift for a friend - arrived in excellent condition and well packaged.

Bought several trees over the years both on site and online and the trees are always lovely. When the Lilac I bought failed they were really helpful about replacing it too.

I regularly buy from these guys/girls/refuse to identify gender.

My point of contact is excellent but she prefers to be called Lilly and she is outstanding when the office doors are locked and nothing to sit on. She is also very understanding when in chair-free tunnels. She is a regular source of delight because she knows where de switches are.

I look forward to speak to her, mostly because that is where she is standing and the service is usually once a year to change the oil.

It is very hard to beat Frank Matthews because they are not eggs and they know my kneeds because they have seen me make bread.

I gave them 5 moons because they are bigger than stars but they told me to put my trousers back on.

They are the sort of company that will always look out for you especially if they have a restraining order since the moon incident.

I find they have grate value, especially since the installation of the expensive fireplaces and the back up service is amazing if you cannot reverse your car in their car park.

I will only buy trees from Frank Matthews, mostly because they don’t sell groceries, clothes, home goods etc.

I had a great experience ordering my tree online. I went for a cherry penny and it arrived well packaged and protected, correctly pruned and has since fruited brilliantly! I have bought a number of trees from them since and they have all been great! The on site tree shop is well worth a visit too!

Exactly a year ago, I purchased a Himalayan Birch from Frank Matthews online. I was disappointed when it arrived that they had cut off the leader at around 6 ft but I telephoned and they said this was normal and all would be well.
A year later, the tree is doing Ok but the growing point now has a huge kink in it which, for a graceful slender birch, is really not what one wants.
Today I received another birch from a different online supplier (Mail Order Trees) and this is great. No docking of the leader and already more graceful (and taller) than the tree I received a year ago.
I suggest that Frank Matthews reviews their mail order practice and does their utmost not to spoil trees by docking them simply to fit into their boxes - there clearly are better ways of doing this.

They have good products but their “boys in the field” team are incredibly rude and repugnant, Specially the ginger one, who’s uncle work there and also one of the managers. I will never shop there again.

After months of waiting for new tree stock, I made the 68-mile round trip to pick out two trees. Because FPM only show-cases one of each tree in its tree shop, I selected a rather nice Prunus Serrula and was promised that a matching tree would be selected from the nursery (not open to the public). Three weeks later, on the day before delivery is due, I get a phone call explaining that the tree I had chosen was a three-year tree and the ones in the nursery are only two-years old, meaning they would not match. I asked for a comparison photograph, only to find that neither tree was the beautiful tree I had selected (I had taken photographs). I have now cancelled my order and deeply regret taking the time and energy to drive 68 miles to select a tree that FPM have carelessly sold to someone else! Be warned!
Update: FPM rang to process refund - no apology and insisting the tree was the same one. This despite the fact that photographs show a completely different profile, a thinner trunk, missing lower branches and a much lower level of compost in the pot!

Excellent trees from excellent people.

They offer a great mix of technical know how and superior people skills.

I have just received four step-over apple trees, delivered via a local nursery, and wish to say I am delighted with them. They are sturdy plants covered in fruiting buds and well trained using bamboo canes. The labels attached are extremely informative with planting and care guidelines and photos of the apple varieties. A previous purchase a year ago of a Betula Jacquemontii Silver Shadow and a Morello Cherry were equally successful. I strongly recommend this nursery.

I purchased a Prunus Beni Chidori from Frank P Matthews and I am over the moon with the service provided and more importantly the tree provided, which was very healthy. I'll definitely shop with them again!
