I had a very negative experience with the paid version of Planet VPN and asked support to cancel my subscription. In response to my request, I was offered a different technical solution called Personal VPN. This time, everything worked flawlessly. I saw this recommended so I thought I'd give it a whirl. In fact that's all I've seen, a little green dot whirling round while a 'Connecting to VPN...' message appears. And it stays there, for as long as you let it. I left it for 30 mins one time.
As the spinner (new eggtimer) is spinning, one cannot click on anything else - e.g. to try a different location VPN. So all one can do is turn it off. And try again ....with the same result.

I wanted a VPN to use in Greece to be able to watch UK television. Mainly BBC and ITV and also Prime Video. So I needed a UK IP address.
I didn't use the free version I bought month.
On trying it at home in UK on all the platforms I was asked to turn off the VPN to allow me to watch.
After going backwards and forwards with the emails to them and them asking me for videos and screenshots etc I decided to just leave it and cut my losses and buy elsewhere.
Which I have done and it works perfectly.
However, they did agree to refund me. Hopefully I will receive it.
So if you are in UK I suggest you maybe don't use Planet VPN. Go elsewhere.

Da ich jedes Jahr fÃŒr mehrere Monate nach RuÃland fahre und dort deutsches Fernsehen ÃŒber den Laptop oder Handy sehen will, hatte ich 2024 ein Premium Abo fÃŒr 4 Jahre abgeschlossen. Zudem sollte das Abo fÃŒr 6 ZugÀnge nutzbar sein. D.h. meine russische Frau und ihre Tochter konnten VPN auch nutzen, was in 2024 auch funktioniert hat.
Nun muÃten wir feststellen, dass das in 2025 gar nicht mehr geht. Man hatte mir zunÀchst einen SchlÃŒssel zugeschickt, der aber nur fÃŒr mich ÃŒber Proxy VPN nutzbar war fÃŒr einige Wochen. Nachteil war, dass die Geschwindigkeit extrem reduziert wurde. Man hatte mir mitgeteilt, man kenne das Problem und arbeite an einer Lösung.
Nach einigen Wochen war die GÌltigkeit meines privaten SchlÌssels ausgelaufen und ab da wurde ich mit Mails bombardiert, ich solle mir fÌr zusÀtzliche 39 EUR pro Jahr einen zusÀtzlichen SchlÌssel kaufen. HÀtte bedeutet fÌr 3 Personen "schlanke" 117 EUR pro Jahr! HÀh, wie bitte? Wozu bezahle ich ein Premium Abo, wenn es nicht funktioniert? Anfragen meinerseits was das soll bzw. bis wann die versprochenen Lösung fertig ist wurden ignoriert. Statt dessen bekam ich wiederholt Mails mit der Aufforderung fÌr 39 EURO einen zusÀtzlichen SchlÌssel zu erwerben.
Ãbrigens habe ich dann Psiphone Pro VPN installiert. Das ist kostenlos, arbeitet schneller und greift automatisch auf einen deutschen Server zu.
