Thank you for your feedback. We completely understand why, particularly with an order of over £20,000, you would feel that any additional information required should have been requested at the point the order was placed.

We do, however, make customers aware when placing an order that some purchases may be selected for additional checks and that further information or documentation may be required before the order can be processed. These checks are not carried out on every order, so unfortunately we cannot know in advance which individual orders will require additional information.

There is also an important reason why we cannot simply complete these checks before an order is placed. Our pricing is based on the live precious metals market, and the order needs to be placed and paid for in order to secure the price at that particular point in the market. If we were to complete the checks before accepting the order, there would be no way for us to guarantee that the same metal price would still be available once those checks had been completed.

I completely appreciate that being asked for additional evidence the following day can feel frustrating, especially when you have already placed and paid for the order. However, this is why the process is structured so that the order is placed first, with additional checks only being requested where they are subsequently required.

We do appreciate your point regarding the timing and understand why you feel the information could be requested sooner. We’ll certainly take your feedback on board when reviewing how we communicate these requirements to customers.
