The bank details are used solely as part of our identity verification process and aren’t used to access your bank account. We’re pleased that, once verified, you found Gretel to be a great service.

We’re pleased you found the overall process easy, although we appreciate that some parts of it can feel less straightforward.

The bank details are used as part of the identity verification process but we do not see any of your information. We also appreciate that finding postcodes from addresses you lived at 30+ years ago can be difficult, particularly when you no longer have any paperwork from that time. Providing as much accurate information as you can helps with matching, but we understand this isn’t always possible.

Thanks for sharing your experience. We appreciate it’s disappointing when you know there should be a pension connection but Gretel has not returned a match.

Gretel searches records shared with us by participating providers, so having an existing pension or receiving less State Pension doesn’t necessarily mean there will be a match in our current data. Our coverage continues to grow, and we’ll keep searching in the background in case a match becomes available in future.

We hope Gretel is able to find something for you further down the line.

Thanks for taking the time to raise your concerns. There are a few points in your review we’d like to clarify, as some of the information you’ve found appears to have led to incorrect conclusions.

Gretel is the product name of IntelliTeq Limited, the company behind the service, which is clearly stated on our website. Gandi is simply a domain registrar for gretel.co.uk, and its address appearing in France does not mean Gretel is a French company or that Gandi owns Gretel.

Gretel is also not a data broker and does not sell users’ personal information. We use information to provide and operate the service, including matching users with records shared by participating financial institutions, as well as for necessary identity, security and regulatory purposes.

As for your pensions, Gretel isn't designed to show every pension someone currently holds. It searches records made available to us by participating providers, so having two pensions doesn't necessarily mean both will appear. Our coverage is continuing to grow, and we continue searching in the background after registration.

We appreciate that receiving no matches can be frustrating, but that is very different from the service being a scam. Gretel is a free service, and we’re proud that it has helped many people reconnect with lost or forgotten financial assets - which is clearly evidenced in many other reviews we've received.

Some providers share their customer data with Gretel to help identify people who may have become disconnected from an account, including where contact has previously been unsuccessful. This can occasionally result in a match where the provider’s records are now up to date, even if contact was returned some time ago.

We appreciate you taking the time to flag this and hope Gretel can help identify a genuinely disconnected account for you in the future.

Some providers choose to share their full customer data with Gretel to help identify people whose details may be out of date.

In this case, the match was showing as connected in Gretel, so both the email and your dashboard would have reflected that the policy was already connected rather than indicating that your provider had the wrong address. The notification would however have invited you just to check that the provider has all other contact details correct.

We hope this helps clarify what you saw and why the match was identified.
