Ordered a pump for my pond, never used this type before came super quick, and easy to set up happy fish 🐟

I purchased an EconoBead 40 (2800-gallon) pond filter to improve the water quality in my pond. My pump runs at around 1 bar, and since the filter is rated up to 1.2 bar, I expected no issues. After changing the pipework and installing the unit, it immediately began leaking from the top, even at only 1 bar of pressure.

I contacted the supplier, who contacted the manufacturer with no luck, to ask for the correct torque settings for the lid bolts, but none were provided. I tightened the bolts as much as possible, but the leak persisted. The supplier suggested turning the pressure down—something I cannot do, and in any case, I should not need to for a filter advertised as suitable up to 1.2 bar.

Although some general advice was given about tightening the bolts, the real issue was clearly the perspex bowing between the bolts. At one point I was told my pond was too large for this filter, but that explanation makes no sense—pond size should not affect whether the lid leaks.

After 5–6 weeks of back-and-forth, I was finally offered the option to return the unit for inspection, with the possibility of a repair, replacement, or refund. This long delay and lack of practical support left me very disappointed with both the product and the customer service.

I bought a pond pump from Hatton Koi, when it arrived it had a 2 pin plug on, my electrician swapped for uk plug. The pump ran for 4 months then started cutting out. Paul who I think owns the business asked if the plug had been removed as this invalidates the warranty. Think he probably tells a lot this and gets away without having to replace! Wouldn’t buy from them again very poor customer service.

It works perfectly after a little adaption to my Aquadyne filter which would have come from USA had I ordered one!
