HCB Solicitors, and in particular Abigail Holding, were very efficient, friendly and approachable during the sale of our property. We would recommend them to anyone looking to sell their property.

Mr Wilton listened to what I wanted my new will to say. He asked for my explanations on some points. He suggested some alternatives, with reasons, about the money to be given to charities.
He posted the draft to me promptly. I emailed some questions about the wording to him and he emailed his explanation. We agreed a date for signing in his office. This was completed quickly. He explained t the advantage of registering Lasting Powers of Attorney as soon as they could be completed.

I had a great experience with HCB Solicitors during the purchase of my bungalow. The team was professional, efficient, and very supportive throughout the entire process. This was a straightforward property sale and it went through within 3 months which I believe is quicker than usual. I was particularly impressed by the knowledge and experience of the legal assistants, Abigail and Ellie and the approachable nature of everyone we dealt with. I would like to thank Sharon at the HCB Leigh branch for the outstanding support she provided during my divorce. From start to finish, Sharon handled my case with efficiency, care, and genuine compassion, while always remaining utterly professional. She explained everything clearly, kept me informed at every stage, and responded promptly whenever I had questions or concerns. At what was an extremely stressful time, her friendly and reassuring manner made a real difference and gave me confidence in the process. I felt listened to, respected, and fully supported throughout. I cannot recommend Sharon highly enough and am truly grateful.

Had the misfortune of having to deal with this firm as part of a legal process. Their advice was diabolical which resulted in their client dis-instructing HCB and our negotiations collapsing with considerable wasted legal fees. Their moral compass is broken and my advice to potential clients is to find a firm that is there for your best interests and not their fee account.

We engaged Jayne Dolby at the Leicester Office to handle the sale of our late aunt‘s house. Jayne, with legal assistant Aneesah Khan, carried out the process efficiently and effectively. They were quick to respond to all our requests and always courteous and patient. In addition to this level of service the charges were very reasonable and we would have no hesitation in calling upon Jayne and Aneesah for future conveyancing requirements.

Avoid HCB Widdows Mason Ltd. Predatory, Lazy, and Unprofessional

I strongly advise anyone against instructing HCB Widdows Mason Ltd, specifically their education department. I paid an upfront fee of £1,819.20 for an urgent Fitness to Study matter with a hearing only 48 hours away. What I received was a masterclass in professional negligence and disrespectful service.

Despite providing a comprehensive ZIP file of all my documentation at 11:21 am on Monday, and making payment by noon, the solicitor, Robert Slade, didn't bother to conduct a basic review until 17:26 that evening, only to email me requesting documents that were already in the folder I had sent.

The most egregious betrayal occurred at 12:21 pm on Tuesday, with only less than 24 hours before my hearing. Only then did Mr Slade inform me that my case had "no realistic prospect of success" and that drafting the rebuttal letter I hired them for would be a "waste of money". This last-minute abandonment left me completely stranded, having turned down other solicitors to rely on HCB, and gave me zero time to find alternative legal support.

To add insult to injury:
They charged me £50 per email for "clarifications" that only existed because they failed to read the files I provided.
The firm refused a full refund, withholding £968.40 for just three hours of "work" that actually left me in a worse position than if I had never instructed them.
Their internal complaints handler, Angie Gurdon, was entirely dismissive, refusing to acknowledge the clear lack of due diligence or the untimeliness of their advice.

This firm takes advantage of students in high-stress situations, demands massive upfront payments, and then provides "advice" based on incomplete reviews of the evidence. They are a legal "service" that delivers nothing but a bill and a sabotaged case. Do not trust them with your cases.

Right from the offset I was told that to evict the tenants from my house shouldn't take long and was told it would cost around £1500 plus court fees.
The solicitor was too hell-bent on trying to argue a case that wasn't there, and there was a much simpler solution right from the beginning.
It's cost over £9000 and I still haven't got my house back, although that should happen soon, fingers-crossed.
The whole process has made me extremely stressed to the point of calling for an ambulance 3 days ago after my heart stopping and was diagnosed with vasovagal syncope. Thanks very much guys for nearly killing me.

We opted to go with HCB after checking the reviews of several Solicitors in the area. They absolutely did not disappoint. From the first moment, Louise was so fast in responding, providing a quote and onboarding us - ease of communication and the speediness has been perfect. Following this, Christine acted as our Solicitor as we purchased our first home together - again, brilliant, fast and clear communication from the get go. We completed within 3 months, even though we expected it to be a longer process.

We can't thank the team enough for their support and we'll definitely be returning if and when we need anything in the future.

If you're doing what we did and scouring the internet for quotes and reviews, don't pass by HCB. Their service has been fantastic and the costs have ended up being the most reasonable out of the several firms we looked at!

I instructed Robert Slade to help with my son’s university complaint. He gave us really good, honest advice. He then compiled a complaint which me and my son could never have done. We just don’t have his level of knowledge. Robert made me feel that I wasn’t being an annoying ‘middle class’ helicopter mum, (horrible feeling I might be all 3 lol! What can you do. You do your best for your son/daughter, whatever their age) and he recognised my son’s complaint was grounded in unfair treatment. Robert was authoritative, came across as kind, knowledgeable and I think he really cares about institutions who let young individuals down.
