Hellodoc to goodbyeforeverdoc
Straight of the bat, hands down the worst of the worst. If you have read the other negatives reviews they are spot on. Especially the ones on reddit. Both admin and the psychiatrist dont give a god dam about you. Zero sympathy at all and very robotic. 2nd session of adhd diagnostic assessment, the psychiatrist rejected my answers after answer truthfully for my wife and asked to do a rescedhule some anotjer family member and pay another 900 plus fee for a lousy 10-15 session. Seriously? Pure scam. Do not go with Hellodoc and if you desperate to look into a psychiatrist i beg you to look at somewhere else. Admin dont give dam and worst part, he told me to hurry up to confirm answers or booking times. No customer/patient
rep says that to customers/patients. So rude and felt like being put down. As a medical/health industry they failed the most important qualification to patients. A good heart which they clearly dont have. Just dollars and time that they care about not you.
Rip off, rude and aggressive
No reminders or billing notices were received until less than 48 hours before the appointment - and were not seen as the patient was hospitalised. The only notifications that did come through were abrupt and aggressive, demanding payment within 30 minutes. This is not only unreasonable but deeply inappropriate, especially when dealing with psychiatric patients. Such tactics resemble scam behavior more than professional medical administration and are unacceptable from a mental health provider.
Ripping off our Government
I made a booking to have a consultation for a referral which they said they could do. However in the consultation the doctor said she couldnât do it. They are just ripping off our government.
Do not use HelloDoc!
Do not use HelloDoc!
Cut throat billing procedures, lack of communication, unhelpful admin. We have literally spent THOUSANDS of dollars having a diagnosis and follow up appointments before the Psychiatrist would pass on medication rights to the GP. Will only correspond to one phone number/email but then if the bill is not paid before the appointment then it is ok for them to contact next of Kin to get the money. Extremely frustrating and expensive experience overall and would not recommend.
I would rate the service 0 stars if IâŠ
I would rate the service 0 stars if I could. The admin team are rude and caused more anxiety with each phone call. The pricing is ridiculous and they are very unwilling to disclose pricing until you book an appt. I made the initial appt after spending months trying to get an appt elsewhere. I asked the price, it was for an adhd assessment for my teenager. They told me it was $950 for the assessment and that I had to pay $200 to book the appt. I thought this was very reasonable so I did it. However, we then needed a second follow up appt and I was charged another $950 which when I questioned as it was just a 20min follow up I was spoken do very rudely and abruptly. However, we'd already started the process so I went ahead. We then had to have a medication review after 6 weeks, again just a 20 min appt. I was again charged $750 for this and was spoken to very rudely when I questioned the price of a 20min appt. The admin I spoke to over the phone at every point were rude and dismissive. I will not be using them again. I had to wait for a good month each time to even receive my Medicare rebate and had to chase them every step of the way to get it through.
If they were honest with me at the beginning when asking for the price of an ADHD assessment fair enough, but the fact that they would not disclose prices until I really had no choice is dodgy at best. Also considering it is for mental health treatment, surely the admin staff dealing with people over the phone should not be making people feel even more anxious than they are to begin with.
Genuinely recommend this private psychiatry service
After reading some of the reviews I was sceptical but genuinely did not have a single problem with the service. Wait time for initial appointment was three days. They require two appointments before diagnosing and looking at prescribing inappropriate. The total cost after Medicare rebate is about $1000 those who are having issues it appeared. They just didnât complete the paperwork that was requested and have it sent through. My GP was great in making sure all the blood tests and pathology requests were completed but would definitely recommend this service if youâre needing a diagnosis quickly.
I also know thereâs lot of hesitations on here about positive reviews being bots. Iâm a genuine person that was struggling with ADHD. Not sure if you can reply to these reviews and Iâll help you with any questions if you may have them.
Very poor experience
I started off with a positive experience being diagnosed with ADHD with HelloDoc.
My treatment began and then I had to swap psychiatrists as they said my diagnosing Dr was no longer available (she is still listed on their website.)
I went for a routine yearly consult as in Qld GP's will only write a script for 6 months, relying on a script from the psychiatrist to cover the next 6 months, meaning they require me to see the psychiatrist once per year.
My initial diagnosis described my life-long self medication with cannabis (I'm in my 40's), and the diagnosing Dr felt it appropriate to prescribe me Ritalin.
Treatment helped me greatly, and I reduced my cannabis use dramatically.
Prior to my most recent appointment, my Ritalin script had expired so I could not access my final 2 repeats. I was without treatment for a number of weeks leading up to my appointment, and in this time I got a new cannabis prescription, very similar to the one I had when first diagnosed and placed on Ritalin for treatment.
Straight away at my recent appointment, the Dr started berating me about psychosis risk. The Dr did not allow me to talk to explain the cannabis prescription, nor did he attempt to ask any questions about my use, history, or psychosis risk.
He denied me treatment, costing me $900 for the lecture, with zero attempt to talk to me or understand my situation. He wrote a letter to my GP saying he will not prescribe me Ritalin while I have a cannabis prescription. I complied with his request, cancelling my cannabis prescription and sending HelloDoc the cancellation confirmation.
When I requested to see a different psychiatrist to get my treatment back on track I was terminated from their service with no further explanation.
Since then I have attempted multiple times to have HelloDoc release my original diagnosis report. They replied to say it was sent to my GP in March 2024. I explained I was not able to see that GP currently, and again requested my report as is my right.
HelloDoc ignored my request. I followed up with a phone call. They asked me to send an email. I pointed them towards the multiple emails I had already sent, and they said they would reply soon. They have not replied and appear to be ignoring my request again.
For a service that is supposed to be helping people, they have caused me substancial stress, anxiety and mental anguish, and have led me to be unmedicated for a number of months now, putting further stress on myself and my family, both personally and professionally at work.
I am still currently unmedicated and have received no support from them.
Hopefully the new laws in QLD mean I get better treatment from a specialist GP in the near future.
Warning
Warning: Avoid this service - deceptive and exploitative practices!
Excessive fees: Misrepresentation: Lack of transparency: Unethical practice: Unfair outcome:
Do not use this service, they are completely fraudulent. First consultation $725 and the second consultation over $1000. They misled me into the appointment. The initial conversation with the booking person was completely misleading. I explained in three separate interactions what I was requiring and never was I told that was not an option. I explained the cost was more than I had paid previously and the person convinced me that it was a standardized fee. I have never received telehealth psychiatry before; therefore, I was unaware. but I was very clear with the purpose for the appointment, and I should have received appropriate feedback regarding what to expect at the initial appointment. Basically, they had taken $725 from my bank account before the consultation, at the consultation the "psychiatrist", Dr Ramesh Atikum said I needed to have a blood test and urine analysis before they could prescribe. I had been diagnosed previously by my face-to-face psychiatrist (who unfortunately passed away). If I needed to provide a blood test and urine analysis this should have been discussed before the first consultation. Paying $725 to be told to go away and make a second appointment which will cost over $1000. Is without any question FRAUDULENT.
predatory tactics, NOT neurodivergent-friendly at all
I reached out to Hellodoc via email to ask about getting an autism diagnosis. I specified I was an adult. They told me it was possible so I asked by GP for a referral. Instantly, they sent me an email, made 2 attempt to call me that same say and sent 2 texts. The second text was a veiled threat: "we'll close your file if you don't contact us to book." Booking is only possible via phone call.
I felt so hounded and it gave me such anxiety. I sent an email asking for a bit of time and explaining how difficult admin was for me and calls and how anxious I was and asking additional questions. Got "call us when you can". No apologies, no answer to any of my questions.
For a company that is supposed to cater to neurodivergent people, I'm baffled by the communication deficiency. I didnât book with them because I wasn't at all comfortable it wasn't just a money grab.
The rudest customer service experience. No guarantees
The rudest customer service experience when trying to book in. I have a previous diagnosis and they still wouldn't check for me first that my psych would accept my case as is (and not need further assessment). When I brought up my concerns the man said "are you going to book this in or not?" No way am I paying $750 ($200 non-refundable upfront) for this to not work out for me, and the lack of reassurance for a fair process sounds like a scam too.
Itâs quite telling that most of the 5âŠ
Itâs quite telling that most of the 5 star reviewers have only ever reviewed Hellodic!! FAKE. Total money grab. I had 2 full assessments and one follow up. My first doctor was nice, but then he left! The next doctor was horrid. The compassion was zero. The office staff are not friendly and refuse to answer any questions just repeating â you have to make an appointmentâ I have since found a wonderful doctor who treats me with total respect and helped me more in one appointment that these guys did in 3. She also has a kind caring receptionist who cannot do enough to help you through when you are just struggling. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IF YOU NEED SOME COMPASSION AND KINDNESS !
Do not recommend
Wanted to share the details of my experience to help others in my situation.
Was previously diagnosed ASD and ADHD by a psychologist, and made an appointment with HelloDoc to manage treatment. The psychiatrist I ended up seeing disregarded my previous psychologist's report, said it was rubbish and that it was too long, and that the diagnosis was only provisional, not official. He also said the psychologist hadn't used the DIVA-5 diagnostic tool and disagreed when I said I was pretty sure I remembered doing the DIVA-5... (I double-checked the report afterwards, and it definitely said they used the DIVA-5. I also asked the psychologist about the diagnosis, they said it was not provisional, that it was accurate and valid). The rest of the session was a speedrun of the initial ADHD questionnaire, and we finished 15 minutes early.
I understand needing to be re-assessed by a new psychiatrist, but the way I was treated and spoken to felt pretty shitty. I left feeling pretty frustrated, a bit depressed, and like I hadn't been listened to. I would definitely not recommend HelloDoc, especially not for AuDHD people who have issues with self-advocacy.
On the bright side... I got an appointment fairly quickly.
I'm sure this is some sort of SCAM
I'm sure this is some sort of SCAM - did not make contact, did not set an appt - email response ZERO
Extremely disappointed and concerned byâŠ
Extremely disappointed and concerned by the way I was treated by Hello Doc.
I contacted them after my husbandâs prescribed medication (Dexamphetamine) was stolen from our homeâa distressing situation supported by a police report. When I called to ask for advice about replacing the script, the staff member laughed at me and said, âWhy would someone come into your house and steal your medication?â
This was not only completely unprofessional and insensitive, but also discriminatory, given the nature of my husbandâs condition and the medication involved.
When I raised the issue, the same staff member called me directly (after I asked a colleague to lodge a formal complaint), claiming he had already apologisedâwhich was untrue. This violates complaint handling policies and made me feel even more disrespected.
I later received a vague call from someone who claimed to be a supervisor, but the handling of the entire situation left me feeling dismissed, gaslit, and completely unsupported.
I no longer trust Hello Doc and will be taking this further through official channels, including the Health Ombudsman and the Australian Human Rights Commission. No one seeking supportâespecially in mental healthâshould be treated this way.
TOTAL SCAM
TOTAL SCAM. Absolutely appalling company. All the 5 star reviews are CLEARLY BOTS - do not trust!!!
Edited Review
Would like to say a massive Thankyou to my Psychiatrist for all of her help I wouldnât be where I am today without her help.
Change Fees after Visit
HelloDoc advised initial consult fee was $700 based on GP's referral. Dr spoke about additional possible issue during the appointment. Right after appointment admin start calling asking for extra $$ and advised going to take it out of card on file, as ADHD is charged differently. So referral for X, script for X but ADHD discussed so charging as ADHD appointment. Next appointment is quoted as $900, but who knows if Dr mentions something else what it could go to.
Guess they work on principal of being able to see people quickly, then screwing them on repeat visits, as you either need repeat of script, or have to go off and wait months till can see another provider.
My psychiatrist has been such a bigâŠ
My psychiatrist has been such a big help in managing my mental health. She really listened to me and worked with me to create a care plan that fits my life. Iâm grateful for the support and guidance sheâs given me.
no transparency on out of pocket costs to consumers
My child was referred to HelloDoc for paediatric psychiatry services when I couldn't get on waiting lists for local providers. HelloDoc offered an appointment quickly advising someone else had cancelled and requested an immediate $200 payment to hold the appointment. After that they told me the total fee would be $910 of which I would expect to get about $400 back in medicare rebate. We needed a follow up appointment where the same thing occurred, $200 for holding the appointment. When HelloDoc rang to get the remaining payment I was again told $910 of which I'd get about $400 medicare rebate. I said I still haven't received the rebate for the prior appointment. the admin staff said they can't help with that, its done by a different department, and if I don't pay the remainder owing for the second appointment I'll lose the spot and booking fees. Instead of the promised approximately $800 rebates across these two appointments HelloDoc applied rebates of only $340 in total. a third appointment was required to get to the point of getting a prescription for medication where I was charged $750 for the appointment and HelloDoc would not tell me how much medicare rebate I would expect to receive. when I ring HelloDoc to ask for information about their fees and medicare rebates they say they cannot give me that information. when I ask to speak to a manager they say there are no managers available and the only way to contact them is via email. when I emailed to seek a review of charges and rebates applied their response email defended their admin staff denying what I had been told on the phone by their staff and had not referred the matter to management for investigation and resolution. the professional services were good. Their business model provides no consumer transparency on out of pockets before or after service provision. with the massive shortage of paediatric psychiatrists in regional Victoria and waiting lists over a year for an appointment desperate parents have no choice but to use services like HelloDoc to get urgent help for their kids.
$920 for an uncompleted review.
Have recently paid $920 for a 15 minute consult regarding a fitness to drive evaluation for the NSW RMS, passed the evaluation with no dramas, but the psychologist hasn't completed the actual form with the rms and is asking for more money to complete the form. Wouldn't recommend, as a professional they should know the guidelines involved and not be so money hungry when a person's livelihood is at stake.
