Lovely setting with good comedy and staff if a little on the pricey side.
Carlton towers was a beautiful setting for the comedy by candlelight, the setting was quite intimate in such a large house. It was easy to book the tickets & I even added on an extra person, the same evening of the performances. I thought at £20 the cost was very good!A very enjoyable evening. Three comedians performed, plus the guy who hosted the show, was funny too. Paul Sinah was excellent. My first experience of Heritage Xplore, wouldnât hesitate to book with them again.
A fabulously funny candlelit comedy evening at Carlton Towers with our own court jesters. Plus making a weekend of it, staying on the Carlton Towers estate in a quaint cottage and exploring the locality for delicious cuisine.
Attended the comedy night at Carlton Towers. A great event in an amazing setting. The acts were brilliant and would definitely attend another event at The Towers
Access to a beautiful house for a wonderful private dinner - a good time was indeed had by all.
I think Violet and her team will go far!
Awesome from start to finish. Kelvedon Hall.
Fabulous well organised venue for a Comedy night. A beautiful candle lit cave!! Thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely book again
Very good comedy in the Hellfire caves in High Wycombe. Great venue. Not candlelit as advertised but that is not really important. I would definitely go to a similar event again.
An excellent evening of entertainment, communication and information given about the event was exceptional.
I went to a HeritageXplore event at Belvoir Castle and absolutely loved it. It was fascinating to see the castle through the artistâs eyes and to hear how his work connects with its history. We were even able to see a few behind-the-scenes parts of the tour that arenât usually open to the public, which made it feel really special.
The whole event was beautifully organised, friendly, and full of interesting details. I always come away from HeritageXplore experiences feeling inspired and lucky to have discovered them!
Dear Isabella
I meant to write last week but had a lot going on on my return to London.
I just wanted to say that it was soooo lovely to meet you and your team to do the tour of Elveden Hall , which lived up to went way beyond all expectations.
Itâs been a curiosity of mine for such a long time and it was so exciting and inspiring to finally get to visit.
The icing in the cake was to also meet Lord IveaghâŠoh my, he is so so charming and so obviously passionate about his estate and its long and varied history and in prolonging its legacy. Bravo.
Ok, so much of the Hall is not in a good state of repair and there are some hazards, but I feel one of the other reviewers was very unfair about their analysis of the experience. We must remember, that this is a real, but uninhabited and rather decrepit old home, and seeing in this state rather added to its evocative history and mystery. Itâs not meant to be a staged â Disneyfiedâ experience and I thought it was very well explained that parts of the house were unstable and insecure and we must take great care and not wander off unaccompanied. One must remember this is a âprivate tour of a private homeâ and to be able to see âliterallyâ the layers of design and history is a very rare occurrence indeed.
The information about the house being used as a location for a plethora of films and television was also interesting. In particular the Stanley Kubrick 1999 movie âeyes wide shutâ famously starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman for which the house seemed like the perfect setting.
I loved seeing the house in its âundoneâ and honest condition as left after the departure of the Maharaja Duleep Singh, who had transformed it into the âMughal inspired palaceâ reminiscent of his Punjabi heritage.
The central marble hallway is especially impressive, initially created by the Maharaja and then renovated/ remodelled by the first Lord Iveagh to form a masterpiece of solid Carrara Marble. Itâs breathtaking and astonishing realising that over 700 craftsman created this elaborate design piece.
My friends on the tour also loved it too and we went to the fantastic Elveden courtyard and farm shop afterwards for tea and a scones to compare and share our thoughts.
It was a special day and experience so please do thank Lord Iveagh too for the opportunity.
Jack Pennys paintings were also great and very thought provoking and befitting of the history and past peopleâs of the hall. I would have loved to buy one of the Swans but sadly a bit out of my budget.
Thank you for an all round wonderful experience.
The private tour at Elveden Hall left much to be desired. The guides were welcoming and courteous but information about the history of the venue and the art on display was not very forthcoming. Tony, our in-house tour guide was forced to read from a script as Lord Iveagh was unavailable. Tony did a brilliant job, including filling us in on minor details about the church and the crypt.
However, considering there were a large number of Asian visitors with high expectations, the history of the Maharaja Duleepâs Singhâs residence at the Hall was astonishingly downplayed. And comments such as the Kohinoor âwas givenâ, and Frederick was a royalist, were unnecessary.
As a historic property, the Hall is in a tragic state of disrepair, which I am sure will be remedied with time.
Another important concern was the lack of warnings or safety signs in areas where there were large bits of broken timber and exposed nails. This should be rectified at the earliest as visitors were of all ages and abilities including elderly, and children in buggies.
HeritageXplore went out of their way to make sure my families visit to Elveden Hall was memorable. Isabella was fabulous and went above and beyond to meet a special request. My family has wonderful memories from our trip that truly have significant meaning that canât be replicated. The tour, staff and property is worth a visit for anyone looking to gain a unique look into history. I highly recommend any trip through HeritageXplore!!!
I had the perfect day on Monday, visiting Kelvedon Hall for an exhibition organised by Heritage Explore. The day was beautifully organised, with excellent and flexible email communication; really delightful staff; and gorgeous touches like exquisite tea pots and tea cups set out in the little pool house. We were greeted warmly and although I was running late, the lovely team fitted my tour into the day smoothly and without fuss. It was wonderful to visit Kelvedon (I am a rather nerdy Chips Channon fan so it was for that I was visiting), and the tour, to our delight, was given by the knowledgeable and wonderful Katie Channon, a member of the Channon family. The art shown to us as part of this day, was spectacular and much of it was presented in a stunningly attractive âgalleryâ, separate to the House itself. The light falling through the many windows played with the art and gave the exhibition a unique quality that felt special. We came away from the exhibition feeling like we had experienced a really special and authentic day. A lot of this was down to the ladies themselves who looked after us the whole time: with super (top class) personal qualities and knowledge of the art and House. I would now seek out any day or event organised by Heritage Explore. Thank you for an exceptionally joyful day. Gretel le Maître.
My favorite thing to do when traveling around the UK is to visit historic castles and estates. The HeritageXplore platform has made it so much easier to discover these magical places. I was also able to attend on of HXâs Luxe tours and it was truly incredible! Every detail was expertly planned. It was an experience Iâll never forget!
I consider myself a heritage novice but have really enjoyed discovering the amazing heritage sites that HeritageXplore has to offer. The site was seamless and itâs great to have all tours booked in one place so efficiently. Really love their podcast too!
I truly love the HeritageX platform! I was lucky enough to join the HX Luxe Spring trip with Violet and her team, and it was the most unforgettable travel experience Iâve ever had. The insider access we had was unbelievable - so unique and so memorable. I cannot wait to do another trip with HX soon, highly recommended!
