We stayed in this exceptional property and let’s just say, it absolutely exceeded our expectations. Would 100% stay here again. The property was clean, well maintained and equiped and the owners were excellent to deal with.

We really enjoyed our stay at Pier View in Amble, and the location is excellent in being opposite the main town green and beach, with the gift shops and restaurant nearby. Excellent dog walking nearby as well. The accommodation was as described. The beds were comfy, everything was clean, the kitchen is well equiped. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the shower. It takes ages to get warm and then keeps going hot to cold to hot. Some tips on how to get hot water from it would be good.

We would highly recommend a stay at Dalegarth Cottage. It was presented beautifully and equipped with everything we could need. Two very large double bedrooms with extremely comfy beds. The garden was enclosed which was great for the dog. The location is fantastic! A footpath runsW along the back of the garden so walks straight from your door. 10 minute walk to 2 pubs serving good good. Will definitely rebook.

5th time staying here for a long weekend, and everything was as perfect as expected.

We have never come across Host & Stay before, but our understanding is they manage properties on behalf of clients (The Courtyard at No 47, Scarborough) to the public.

We recently stayed at this property.

The first issue we came across with Host & Stay was the total refusal to issue us with the key code (key was located in a key code safe, outside the property), to allow us to check in on time.

For very long periods, we kept checking our emails and the key code had not been sent. Internet coverage was very poor in this area of the country, and we were unsure if this was the issue for not receiving the key code via an email, or if it was because Host & Stay had not sent it. As you can imagine, with a car full of adults and little ones, this was absolutely frustrating and not a great start to our break.

After check in time had expired, we telephoned Host & Stay and spoke with a female who did not speak English, which was challenging. It transpired this company divert UK calls to southern Asia.

The person we spoke with did not seem to understand our issue, had no empathy and regardless of our simply needing to check in at our destination and issue the key code, she failed to do so.

We finally received the email with the key code and entered the property. The property smelled musty as if it had been closed up for a very long time. Due to a particularly special celebration, we decided to have a glass of fizz to celebrate and on opening the fridge we found a dead fly inside the ice tray.

The furniture was in need of replacement and was very old and rickety. The TV did not work correctly. Upstairs in the bedroom there is a suspicious stain on the wall (it looked like blood and deposits from a human nose). The bed was not comfortable and was really old with odd pieces of wood sticking out which inevitably get caught on shins as you walk by. Outside the property there is a courtyard with an insecure gate, so as we had taken dogs, we had to fashion something together to ensure the local Royal Mail postie did not open the gate and allow our dogs to escape up the street.

We reported all of our complaints to Host and Stay directly. Over two weeks later, (way past their claimed timeframe of investigation), we still had no response to our complaint.

Following our chasing this complaint with Host & Stay again, yes you guessed it, they decided they had done nothing wrong!!!!!

Really very disappointed on multiple levels. All I can say is, if you do come across this company - beware of our experience and maybe give The Courtyard at No 47 a miss until the resolve all the accommodation issues.

Lovely hosts, very responsive & accommodating if they are needed. Place was lovely, the decor is fabulous. it has everything you would need. The only thing I am sad about is that I was only there for 2 nights. The only suggestion I could possibly make would be black out curtains for the bedroom.

Really nice spacious apartment all you need for a wonderful stay nice views from second floor apartment.only downside is the 55 steps up and down . Got used to them after a few days tho lol .

Lovely place really close to the beach and bars

Staithes is a lovely little fishing village with cobble stone streets and lots of quirky alleyways. Parking is an issue in the village though. The Cod and Lobster, on the harbour, does good food for a good price and we had our evening meals there, sitting outside. However, Ship's Bell is tiny. There was only 3 of us (plus a dog) and we were tripping over each other, with 5 in the house you'd be bursting at the seams. There is also toilet immediately off the lounge, which was a bit weird. We found the kitchen to be a dark, dank place, which smelt very damp and there were missing kick boards under the cupboards which gave it a grubby feel. When we arrived there was a large puddle of water on the lounge floor and this had dripped through the floor boards to the kitchen below and there was water all over the kitchen table. We also found chunks of broken glass on the kitchen floor (luckily we spotted it before our dog walked on it), and although we didn't need to use it, the wood burning stove had not been cleaned out from the previous occupants, which when you are paying £90.00 cleaning fee for two nights stay is not really acceptable. In fairness, when we eventually got through to the agents they did offer to send someone to investigate the 'leak' but it was late so we decided to just clean up the water and glass ourselves. On a positive note though, the bedrooms and bathrooms were nice, the bedding and towels were of a good quality and the kitchen was very well stocked with equipment, just a shame we didn't want to spend any time down there.

Perfect location for our first visit to the area. Great size for a couple to stay in and warm and cozy. Excellent communications with booking agents and was helpful and quick when needed.

Comfy well fit-out cottage in a fantastic location. My stay was lovely, with timely help from some of the host & stay support team. I will be looking forward to another visit in the next few months!

5 of us blokes stopped here for two nights it was very comfortable very and i mean very close to the railway/centre of town would defo recommend it 5 stars from all 5 of us

Lovely accommodation and site, spotlessly clean and very spacious.

We loved staying at the voyages view. It had such a homely feeling. It was clean and tidy. Nice lovely bedrooms. And such a thoughtful welcome basket when we arrived, with lots of treats! We also loved the coffee machine and the pods we got gifted for it. Such a great touch. It was like being home away from home! Also the location was great, so close to all the places we love to visit! And even the 37 steps, kept us fit:) Thankyou for having us, we can’t wait to come back next year!

Fabulous little apartment, excellently equipped and comfy and quiet and clean. Would definitely stay again.

Very clean and well appointed.
Great comms too with regards to location, access etc.
2 keys would have been useful as we weren’t always together but not a great problem.
We’re looking to book for next year.

Great little cottage with room for 4 in comfort. Arrived to a clean and beautifully set cottage just off of Flowergate. Living room/kitchen area was fresh and comfy. 1st floor bedroom decorated lovely. Bathroom spacious with a great shower. Upstairs twin room pretty in pink. All beds were very comfortable and the linen and towels were an appreciated bonus.
Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone staying in Whitby, the only drawback is the hill.
