I used to love this site for years. It was just a random assortment of memes, feel-good posts, sometimes stories and artwork. Now I only use it to upload pictures I can share with people or post elsewhere.

The constant politics make this an unpleasant site to be on, because comments are really want made the community what it is. Now its just constant fighting.

Much like reddit, its very left-leaning as well, so even centre/moderate views get downvoted to oblivion. I found myself scrolling to the bad comments just to find someone's more level-headed, logical take on a particular topic. After a short while I realised the site is no longer worth using because the politics made it completely toxic. If I wanted a political echo chamber, I'd go elsewhere. Sad times

This site used to be very nice, always used to go there if i needed a laugh. Also used it as a host for my pictures. In a year or so it has turned into a political echochamber. I'm always ready to discuss politics, but people berate eachother for having differing views there. Absolutely do not recommend this site to anyone anymore. Simply put, it's a toxic community.

It was fun once, plenty of memes and pictures, seemed like a descent community. Then it got dark, full political rubbish, or racist and leftist rant. Stay away from this site. It’s toxic

Imgur has become an echo chamber for weaponized liberal hatred. It embodies mob mentality. The hate speech you will encounter here for having a different opinion is disgusting.should have a disclaimer only far left progressives need install.

I've had an Imgur account for about 4 years now and I must admit that in the recent years the site has become far too leftist.

What used to be a community about sharing memes, pet pictures, DIY projects and other hobbies has turned into a leftist hatespeech forum dedicated to insulting anything not supporting leftist/liberal ideas or views, sometimes even promoting violence towards groups and individuals considered "too right-wing" or conservative (not just far-right movements like the nazis).

The front page reflects it's users radicalized political views with posts promoting leftist and pro-socialist views and users praising political violence towards non-leftist groups and government officials, afflicted by radical groups such as Antifa.

The most upvoted users themselves voice their wish partake in said violence and often times share comments (with hundreds of upvotes) about wishing to see certain politicians physically harmed/killed, because they do not share similar political views.

As mentioned, the front page nowadays consists of leftist political posts. This is because the Imgur community is quick to trample the few centrist to right wing posts that get any attention. Also any comment or post questioning or disagreeing with left-wing ideas or policies is often times massively downvoted and the users ridiculed by the left leaning majority.

TL;DR:
Nowadays it's a pro-socialist political bubble that not even sensible leftists should partake in.

Oh sure, you can post and find cat gifs if that’s what you’re into. But you’re going to have to sort through a bunch of far-left, intolerant, discriminatory bullying by the vast majority of members and moderators. God forbid you post anything critical of liberals or social democommunists; that will get you banned. You can only post negative and abusive content if it is critical of right-leaning or conservative people or politics. The only useful thing about hanging out on Imgur for a bit is that it allows you to get a real understanding of how warped is the world view of the millennial slackers.

Used to browse for cute dog and cat pictures/gifs, it has now become hyper-partisan propaganda trash, what a shame.

Been on Imgur for about 4 years now and when I first joined it was just a place to store my images of characters and locations with some info on each image for D&D type stuff. I quickly found it to have lots of good memes, artist posting their work, and the occasional news/did you know stuff. If it had stayed that way this would be a 4 star review. Now there was stuff that definitely annoyed me and put me off sometimes such as people getting mad over little stupid things like spelling errors or getting unreasonably mad over selfie’s. Every year however it got worse and worse. I’m pretty left leaning on most things politically but dear god it’s a radical haven now. It was always pretty political, but it’s terrible now. You cannot think against the group, you can’t even talk about how political it is. I used to follow three different people on the sight who left because of the political stuff. One because they went against the grain, one because they got bullied off the sight because they dared to make posts about it becoming too political, and the other just left because of stuff like that. Also good lord never respond with humor to anything. It’ll go over a lot of heads there and I hate to generalize but jeez was it way too often that I would reply to something with a joke and it turned into a damn philosophical argument on what is humor because they didn’t think it was funny. Also people there have always complained about reposts, but if it’s the same comic about depression they won’t care and campion it as gold standard writing. I deal with seasonal depression every year and have friends who also deal with issues worse than me, but we all agreed that people on imgur are extremely self pitying and beg for attention on those posts of the same comic you’ll see on the most viewed posts like three times a day. It’s like they don’t even try to take care of themselves.It used to be a pretty cool website, but now it’s filled with pretentious people, people that demand the world love them because they have depression, and hard left politics everywhere. I know it probably sounds like one of those far right nut bags who can’t stand anything slightly to the left, but it really is a far left website now and if you’re like me who was just looking for wholesome memes and nerd art it gets really annoying when everything is just “The world is evil and doomed cry, cry now” posts you’ll do everything you can to try and ignore it.

this place has turned into a leftist's pro-socialist paradise - censorship, discrimination, promoting hate against certain types of opinions. stay away from here.

This site used to have a ton of interesting posts and original content. Now it's nothing but Twitter clippings and far left politics. Bots and brigaders rule the front page; it's no longer worth creating anything original to post on this site.

Imgur is full of dumbos, they censor stuff and delete accounts which they don't like. Mostly full of people who think they are the creme de la creme, but they are just lame. Its a huge nono. They even call themself community. So lame.

Imgur used to be the place to go to have a laugh at cat pictures or be amazed at science you didn't knew it existed. Now you can't even evade the US political posts that are swarming the site's frontpage. I myself came to Imgur to get away from all the real life garbage not soak up more with US politics. Meanwhile the devs were fast with the ability to block mature content while they seem to refuse doing that with political posts.

No imgur is great for one thing and that's uploading and sharing the link to your upload with someone but that's about it these days.

Awful site for artwork, you will get automatic downvoted (a lot) or a horrible comment about your work that might take me weeks to create. I guess everyone at Imgur is a master artist? Not too mention its a left wing extremist political site, its nauseating to see. I'm out to see another platform.

When I first joined Imgur I really enjoyed it .Now it’s become toxic communist site.No views are tolerated other than liberal agenda.

I had an account with 1000's of fake points. Made many comments to other peoples comments. Sometimes would not quite agree with a liberal point of view, especially when they would attack another imgurian that had a conservative view (the liberal would generally tell them to drop dead and leave the platform, especially if they were corrected on anything 'orange man'). Months ago I lost the ability to post comments and couldn't even private message anyone. It would say 'Network Error' when trying to post, on either PC or phone app. I could read anyone's s**te and eat it, but never respond. Sent several tickets, no response.

Just setup a new account using a separate phone number and email. Well, amazingly the brand new account can do everything. This tells me that there is something really shady going on over there - especially when you see the following random political post:

Poster 1: posts volatile pic regarding something Trump had said about looters of BLM vs. capital looters. 402 likes \ 4 dislikes (as of this time)
Poster 2 response to 1 : Points out a factual discrepancy that diminishes the picture's standing. 3 likes \ 95 dislikes

Would not reccomend using this site. A bit clanky, slow and to top it off - some of the users of the site are just plain horrible making the experience worse!

They used to have one great posts on here, I've never laughed so much on some of them. I really loved the platform, now it's all just left leaning rubbish - if you think AOC is the best thing ever / Trump is evil or you shouldn't be responsible for your debts you built up at college - you'll love it.

There is still some truly original posts here but you need to dig through the left-rubbish first

It used to be funny & heartwarming, now there's not a single meme left on this site. They even ran beloved users out of town. Buggy app and no website mobile version. I stopped using it entirely

Literally just adults screaming about Trump this Biden that all of them circle jerking each other over how bad the other people who believe something different are. Most intolerant people who preach tolerance, literally believe no one on there was raised with the each to their own belief. Sad because it’s just devolving into the reason most people avoid the internet these days. Just Social Justice run wild. Bunch of children.

I just want to see pictures of cats, man. Why all the leftwing politics? Well, I say "politics", it's mostly just "Orange man's wife is ugly lolololololllololololol" smeared across the front page, followed by "This is deep, ACAB" in the comments. And for the record, I'm from the UK, so don't give me that "America's left is the rest of the world's right" BS. This site absolutely skews to the left, no matter what country you're from.
