If I were to give anyone two pieces of advice before choosing to sign up with Jackson Lees it would be this:

1) Tell them you have a budget to stick within and that you cannot afford to be hit with "hidden costs" or "under estimation" of costs. (this has happened to me twice). They will claim it's all written in the terms of business but frankly, I don't see how things can be underestimated by such an amount.
2) Do not respond to fishing emails without expecting to be billed for them "considering" your position (weeks after the said event I might add).

I'm already going through a difficult time and this firm have just made me feel a whole lot worse - it seems to me that they only care about how much money they can make from you. When people are in desperate situations what they don't need are law firms who are supposed to be acting on their behalf treating them as a cash cow.

Final piece of advice - let them know in no uncertain terms when you no longer want them to act on your behalf otherwise they may bill you for thinking about your file and what your next steps could be.

I won't be using this firm again for any matter.

These unhelpful shysters typify the greedy, insincere and phoney world of solicitors in general, who are just after your money. Their website is splattered with the usual self-recommendations, and false pronouncements of 'We're here to help', or suchlike, but actually did sod all to do so, except send several rejection emails. They misread my initial request, and refused to help with, what for them at least, would have been a really simple matter ie how to go about requesting help with Appeal court fees, and in what order the request and application should be submitted. It would have taken someone who has this information about two minutes to write it down, but that was obviously too much to ask. It's a typical example of the ethos in the modern world of offering to help, but in fact that offer being phoney, and false, unless money changes hands. If you knew what I've been through in the last three and a half years with a criminal injuries case, you'd know why I'm sickened. These are nothing better than greedy shysters, as I said, AND liars!

Solicitor quoted me 250 deposit and 2000 total for a property sale. When I called back they said the deposit amount would now be 350.

I explained my father had died, im on benefits, and struggling badly with money. I told them we had been with them for years and spent thousands. Was there any way they could honour the quote, as thats all the money I had at the time.

They said no. Terrible company who wont help out a family who has been long time customers over 100 pounds of deposit that was not quoted.

Im still stuck looking for a new solicitor because of this and was both shocked and very disappointed in Jackson Lees response.

Before this company replies "We dont know about this" or "you arent our customer" I have the quote in my emails.

Avoid at all costs, quite possibly one of the worst solicitors firms in the UK, they are incredible slow then it seems like a panic to meet time frames which they will mess up that's if you can put up with the gaslighting through out, honestly one of the worst experiences ever from one of the worst businesses in the planet

We used Jackson lees to sell a house.
After getting a quote over the phone it seemed average so we went with it.

From the get go they were painfully slow and even asking me to contact the buyers solicitor on multiple occasions.

Finally on completion of the sale they divided the funds accordingly which consisted of paying off a loan and sending me the remanding balance.

They even took out a £500 insurance to send my moneys. Surely that’s there job.
I also had final settlement cost from the loan company with Jackson lees stating they had paid £2000 more than the settlement fee actually was.
To top this off they charged us £3800 plus VAT instead of the £930 (average for a sale) verbally quoted.
I am currently seeking legal advice from elsewhere to claim funds back from this solicitors.
In total I believe we are over £5000 out of pocket by using these.
I would personally NEVER use these again and I will be highly advising anyone thinking about using these to think again.

Matters relating to my late brother’s estate have been ongoing with Jackson Lees for over 22 months, with the legal paperwork from the courts taking over 17 months alone to obtain.
UPDATE: ​On 29 July 2026, Jackson Lees requested and accepted a transfer of over £8,000 into their client account. Upon receiving the funds, their automated system promised a response within 3 to 5 working days.
​Over three weeks later—and despite direct chasers sent on 15 August and a 48-hour final deadline—there has been no response.
​To date, they have failed to confirm receipt of the funds, failed to provide an updated statement of account, and failed to respond to urgent correspondence regarding priority estate debts and imminent pension tax deadlines.
​Exceptional lack of basic communication, accountability, and professional courtesy.

This is a review that from our heart, Me and my wife started the process with great desire, like everyone else, and from the beginning they asked more than one year bank statements . I gave them all the account statements for over a year, starting with the £100 deposit in my wife's account, but there was no complaint there either. After a month, they sent an email to the seller's solicitor saying they needed a deed of variation. They also said that since the property we were looking to buy was under estate charges, you would have to pay this. We agreed and Later, they said that we would receive an email, awaited deed of variation, at first. At first, I was very surprised, but then it went on for 2 months, 3 months, and so on. By this time, our solicitor had already annoyed the sellers' solicitor and the management company's solicitor, because they were asking the same questions that were asked repeatedly, nothing else.
The above-mentioned management company started replying a while ago, and their solicitor said that this property does not require a deed of variation for sale. Thus, the verbal arguments continued. So, when everything was ready on our side, the company agreed to give us a deed of variation, and we also said that we would have to pay a fee in addition to the solicitor's fee, and we agreed to that too. After a few months, that is, 5 months, when we received the deed of variation, our solicitor said that this was not correct, that the required 21 day clause was not included in it and that it needed to be corrected. But the company management was not ready for that because they gave us this deed of variation after months of arguments.In the meantime, our solicitor had sent us all the required documents to their office. I then asked our solicitor, why did you not inform the company that the 21 day clause was required and mentioned in the proposal when you had been asking for so long (more than 5 months), but did not get a reply, so the mortgage offer expired, and then it was extended for 2 weeks,Since the last week, our solicitor had been calling me and my wife alternately. They and we clearly knew that nothing special would happen, because if they had said to include a 21 day clause in the proposal earlier, we could have completed our mortgage before it expired (6 months and 2 weeks). So on the last day, they asked us if we wanted to apply for the mortgage again and process it. We said no, for no other reason than that, even though they knew everything about us, something that had not been done in 6.5 months would still happen. If it happened now, they would need some other documents after that, and I didn't want to waste another year. No one I know is interested in referring them.
Anyway, they finally sent us a bill and we paid it.

I would recommend Jackson Lees as a company to anyone as all the staff were so helpful & polite with every call. Lisa was so helpful in arranging appointments & reassuring me about the process. Rebecca Zaidi-Lowe was amazing & explained everything so easily & again reassured me that everything would be finalised urgently & she did this. Jackson Lees were amazing.

I would just like to personally thank Tim Passmore (Liverpool City Centre) for his excellent advice ,support and recommendations he provided during my telephone appointment. Tim listened , was engaged and addressed each of my questions in a way that I could understand and offered practical advice to resolve or address my issues in an extremely complicated and complex case. I was extremely impressed with Tim and especially when he contacted me couple of weeks later after my "Where do I Stand" appointment for a follow up and to provide further advice and guidance. I felt Tim really did go above and beyond and that when no one else was listening he listened and cared. This was greatly appreciated. I wish I had been in the finiancial position to have taken Tim on as my allocated solicitor, however due to the complexity of the case and the predicted legal expense costs, I was unable to do this. However Tim pointed me in the right direction to enable me to apply for legal aid expenses through my inusrance company, which I was very grateful for. In future I will definite be using Jackson Lees for any legal needs and could not recommend them highly enough. Special thanks to Tim.

Our family have used this company of solicitors for 50 years or more dealing with Wills, POA's and trusts. I have recently used them personally for Wills and POA's and have also instructed them to deal with the sale of a house. They are very professional, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with

Awful experience. Paid £13900 to get to court which we won, then had to get a contempt of court which these useless solicitors royally cocked up and did not submit the correct form and then demanded another £8000 to continue. They went up against someone without a solicitor and still couldn’t submit a simple form. DO NOT waste your money on this scamming company.

After being put in touch with Jackson Lees by first4lawyers, I had a call from who I’m assuming is an apprentice stating that although theybelieve I have a claim, their specialist was unwilling to help. When I asked for a reason he said “Urm I don’t actually know” completely unacceptable and unprofessional. Will be finding a professional, capable firm to assist me further. It took a further 24 hours for them to get back to me with a reason, which they clearly had not done their research or read the notes. They stated that it was likely to have problems after the treatment I had received which is completely false. They are so rude and unprofessional - I would advise anyone to run the other way!

Poor service and very disappointed. Called at the Hoylake office and explained that I required conveyancing support. The pleasant receptionist took my details and a member of the team subsequently rang me to get more information on the property purchase I was making. A week later and I have not had any further calls from the company. Perhaps they don't need my business.

My solicitor Janet Jone was amazing, always kept me up to date and didn’t have to chase her at all. Really understanding of my stupid questions as a first time buyer and our my mind at ease! Guided me through the process, thank you.
Would definately recommend and also use again in the future when I come to sell.

Good service provided by the conveyancing team at Jackson Lees. A responsive team who work on a proactive basis. Also worked very closely with the probate team. Would recommend.
