Final purchase from jjill
My last purchase this season was a sweater in my usual size. I could fit me, my sister, my dog, and my sister's dog in this massive thing. The knit is thin and feels cheap. Washing it made the shapelessness worse. It's useless unless I massively resew it. A once stylish and reliable brand with lovely clothing suitable to wear anywhere is now just like one of the cheap Chinese junk stores. I was a customer since the 80s. Thanks, Venture Capital. You've destroyed the brand. Also, did you think that removing the customer questions section and reviews on your online store would prop you up somehow and fool your formerly reliable customers?

If I could give J.Jill a less than 1 star review I would. I placed two orders. The first one was canceled because they said my billing and shipping address were different and I did not respond to an email they sent. I replaced the order after talking with customer service and changed the billing address to match the physical address. My CC billing has both my P.O. Box and Physical so THEY ARE THE SAME but to make J.Jill happy I changed them to match exactly. Checked on the location of the order and they canceled it a second time after talking to customer service and making a resolution for the exact same reason. Their customer service said it was because they had to verify the shipping address because the billing address and shipping address were different. I sent them a screenshot of my order with the EXACT SAME addresses for both. WORST customer service experience ever and now I not only had incredible frustration - I am not going to receive the Christmas gifts I had planned for family. I will not RE Order again. Complete customer service failure on their part. I do not need to monitor my email and respond to requests that they already have answers to if they bothered to use their eyes and brains instead of regurgitating what their computer says.

I have been buying Jjill clothing for more than 20 years. The quality has declined tremendously. I ordered the same pima cotton top in 8 colors over the last 2 years, all in the same size. There is not 2 of them that are actually the same size. In fact, some are at least 1 size bigger. Today, I received a new pair of leggings. They are at least a size smaller than the 20 other pairs I have. I called for an exchange and was told they are still going to charge me to return the pair I received. Needless to say, I cancelled my exchange order; and I think I’m done ordering from this company. I have never ordered anything from a retailer that charges for exchanges. I have another pair of pants coming and plan on just returning them both.
Do Not pay by check
Paid my bill by check 8 days prior to the due date and was charged a late fee of $40 late fee plus $5.89 interest. They claim they did not receive the check until Nov. 6 and you should allow 14 days if paying before the due date. So if you pay by check you need to pay before you receive the bill.
Do not shop at J.jill They do Not honor returns for sale pricing.
I purchased a full price sweater 14 days ago and they will not honor the return for the sale price.
J Jill said the sweater is not on "sale" but a "promotion". ???
That is a sneaky way to not honor a return. To not give the customer the sale price.
Terrible customer service. This is why J.jill is closing so many stores. Shop elsewhere.
A Positive Experience
When it comes to shopping our priorities are style, fit, color, comfort, and care. Also very important is the shopping experience.
For many years I have enjoyed nothing less than a pleasant, positive shopping experience at J. Jill. It's my “go to” store in Winter Park, Florida. The staff -Eileen, Lisa, Lin, Judy, Pattie, Cindy, and others - are professional, friendly, and genuinely eager to help in every way possible. If the item is not available in the store the ladies make every effort to locate it for me
or suggest an alternative that I might overlook.
Occasionally, an item is not available in Petite, however, my wardrobe is certainly testimony to the many "must haves" that I consistently count on.
J. Jill is "a keeper" in my book!
Took my money and delivered nothing
I paid for a pair of pants in the store to be delivered to my home because the size I needed was not on the rack. They shipped the pants to the wrong address and then (without notifying me) simply returned them to the warehouse. After discovering that they had put an incomplete address on the first label, they agreed to ship them out again. This time they claim the pants were delivered, but nothing showed up at my home. They either lied or delivered them to the wrong place. I will NEVER set foot in a J Jill store again nor will I order anything from their website. Worst customer service EVER!!!
Not happy with JJill any more
I wear their Pima leggings, because I like the way that they fit and they are also comfortable. I love the dark charcoal gray, which they no longer have. In fact, they have zero gray colors.
It’s a neutral color that I wear a lot of, and so do a lot of others.
I’ve repeatedly emailed them and asked if they would be bringing gray colors back. The answer is always the same.” We will pass your request along, and we appreciate it.”
I’ve given up. I have gotten my last 6 pairs on eBay and they are brand new and half the price.
They would rather carry colors like “woodbine”, or “evergreen”, “teak” and “portobello”.
That’s fine, I’m happy to give my business to independent sellers.
And when I can’t get those any more, I’ll find another company that will listen to its customers.
worst run department store and customer service in the country
I think J Jill is the worst run department store in the country. I I signed up for a credit card on my first purchase so I could get more of a discount on my purchases. I had no idea that the credit card had an interest rate of 31% and I have a very high credit score. I did not ever get a credit card delivered to me and I was charged a late payment and never received the first bill. I spent hours on the phone trying to straighten things out with them, and they still sent me a final bill of $11 which was interest and I had paid the exact amount they told me to pay to cover my complete bill, which was only $286 and some cents and then I promptly close the account. I will never deal with them again.
JJill will never fully refund your money
Shopping experience was acceptable, but returning the item resulted in me receiving LESS than the cost of the item! How does that make sense? The shirt was $49 and I was refunded $43. Ridiculous shipping and "stocking" costs. Never buying from them again.
Great experience!
Received 6 items by mail order recently. All were wrapped carefully and packaged well. The free shipping option seems to take a little longer this year, but they were upfront with expected arrival times before checkout. Like many other sites now, they offer 2 day shipping for a small extra charge. All the pieces fit well and have washed great on delicate. One even survived being carried away by a curious puppy. The earrings and bracelet that came were in separate plastic pouches and then carefully boxed. They look exactly like they did online - same colors, stones, very artsy and unique. Great experience and will be shopping there again.
Don't buy from them.
Shopping from this site is fine - unless something goes wrong. I've been a customer of their for years - and had no problems. But on my recent order I had a shipping issue. And they basically cancelled my order and then wouldn't respond to any questions or queries.
Based on their score on this site - their approach to customer service is just to ghost anyone who has a difficult time with them - rather than responding to their problem.
I won't be buying from them again.
$2 fee for PAYING OFF CARD
I returned a pair of jeans for exchange to a smaller size. I was charged 8.95 for shipping and just learned the additional $2 fee was and interest payment for PAYING OFF THE BALANCE!!! I have never heard of such a ridiculous charge in all my 60 years. I immediately cancelled the card and will never shop at JJill again.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Been buying TONS of J. Jill for YEARS. In the fall, I bought a wherever sleeveless tank, on sale. I never even wore or washed it, it got too cold in MA. So, ok, I'll put it away until spring, which I did. I took it out 3 weeks ago, and it was full of tiny holes. I was sad, but assumed I did something to it. 2 weeks ago I bought a blue linen camp shirt kinda thing, and it looked and fit PERFECTLY. I DID not even wash it, ( I know...i know, lol) at work, not 2 hours later, a co worker asked if I knew that my shirt has holes all over it!? I FREAKED! IT WAS ALMOST $70!! I wasn't wearing jeans, so not from that. It wasn't tucked in, and it wasn't my seatbelt. I called to try to return it, and tell them about my purchase in the fall, but they said I could not return because I wore it!? And the one from the fall was purchased too long ago, which I did understand. But my brand new, only worn for 2 hours shirt? I'm not pleased, and I am done. Never again. I literally bought a $70 shirt to wear for 2 hours. I'm so upset.
I returned three orders in one box
I returned three orders in one box. I used one label generated by the website. They received the return over 3 weeks ago. Only the order that was attached to that label was credited. I was rudely informed that it could be weeks before the box is even opened and the other items credited for refunds. Not really any confidence of that even happening as well. All she could tell me is that they are a month behind in opening returns. I was reprimanded for putting three orders in one box. And for not using the label that came WITH the merchandise. I have been a loyal customer for years. Update; Four weeks later I did receive the refunds for the other orders in the box. But they took an additional $8.95 out for shipping. So $17.90 total return shipping. Whatever. At this point I am just happy it was credited at all. They don't give much optimism that the return will be credited. Do better JJill.

The quality of the merchandise has greatly declined with online purchases. Eight out of ten times, I end up returning items. Recently returned a sky blue midi dress twice as both sizes, even the small, fit like a tent.
Shipping and returns are too expensive. Will not use again.

My complaint matches much of what others have said. I will start by saying I will no longer do business with J. Jill. Their products are expensive, but the quality is terrible. I received an order from them last week, one of the items being a quilted black and white jacket. I went to put it on and at that time discovered a tear under the the top button. I contacted the company, and was told to contact customer support for a replacement. I was told by the person I spoke with that he couldn't place an order for the replacement without charging me. I would have to return the item first. Do you know how long that whole process takes? Now, I've been advised that they are out of stock of the expensive jacket I bought. Enough is enough. Stay away from J. Jill.
Beware of slow processing and obscene postage costs
Purchased an item which was too big (not true to size). Paid US$52 international shipping for the original order, US$26 to return for an exchange, and then was charged another US$52 for postage of the exchanged item. I was then asked for additional postage costs before the item was posted to me. The company would not budge on waiving the additional fees and I cancelled my order. This was the first and last order I made from this company. Very disappointed as this item was a special piece to be taken on an international holiday. Two months of waiting to still not have anything to show for it other than a large postage cost. Buyer beware.
A Tale of Two Sweaters
I ordered 2 sweaters from JJill that were on sale and due to be deluvered on February 25, 2023. The USPS delivery driver deemed my apartment vacant and reported that I had moved and left no forwarding address. I actually had just moved in 2 weeks before. This is only relevant because JJill has some deal with UPS where the UPS packages are handed off to USPS at some point for final delivery. If there is any problem you can’t reach the Post Office because everything takes place in a warehouse. What a Cluster. Now for the REALLY RELEVENT COMPLAINT. I spoke to a Customer service Agent immediately. He informed me that the package was being returned to JJill and would be re-sent to me. He said he would make notes. My package got back to JJill on March 3, 2023. Today is March 7 so I called customer service and was told they can’t send my package because of their PROCESS but they can offer me a refund. Apparently all the sweaters like mine are sold out. What happened to my package with my 2 sweaters in it? And what is the process ?Well, they have a process…I asked to speak to a supervisor—The poor first line agent had me on hold for at least 5 minutes and then got back on the call with the same answer. They can’t send my sweaters because they have a Process. I guess the supervisor was too good to join the call. I always liked JJill but I believe we have to part ways. This experience was annoying and convoluted but most of all insulting.
Great service, terrible product
Many years of being bought and sold by venture capitalists has sadly ruined what was once a great company. Fabrics are now poor quality and high maintenance, and tend to wrinkle and/or shrink and/or develop holes no matter how careful you are. Yet they're still charging cashmere prices for what is now polyester, Tencel and rayon. Colors and patterns are ugly, dresses and tops are huge and shapeless, and the vanity sizing is so crazy that an XS top might fit a woman who's an L or XL at any other company! Store staff are still super-nice and very well trained, but there's very little worth buying anymore. I wish J. Jill would fire their incompetent head of design before it's too late.
