Excellent course, highly recommend
This has been one of the best courses I’ve taken. The combination of both written and very detailed notes with visual recordings were brilliant. The recordings were the right length with enough information and clearly demonstrated to allow you to follow each step of the recipe. I learned a great deal and having successfully completed the course I will look to do further courses in the future. The main bonus of the course being online was that I could take the course in my own home at a time to suit me.
Raising one standard of meal preparation and presentation
I liked the way it was presented with very clear guidelines and explanations. I Liked the choice of meals throughout the course and will certainly make many of them again. Louisa our mentor made highly detailed and appropriate comments on the presentation and in answer to any difficulties I had experienced. What I would have liked would be more information about at what stage to freeze something during the presentation and also, apart from the final session when this was presented throughout, some indication of what may be prepared ahead up to what stage and also maybe indications of how to use the offcuts that were wasted for example a recipe for making a vegetable stock.
A fantastic course to give kids Confidence…
My son really enjoyed doing the teens course, highly recommend it giving him a lot of confidence.

Very detailed online video instructions, a wonderful, responsive mentor and like-minded fellow students from all over the world makes Leith’s a unique learning experience.
The App is clunky which causes frustration. Some nice recipes, some repetition.
Short Course Plant Based Cookery
The Workshop app only seems to work on WiFi which is a pain if out shopping.
When playing the videos it would be useful to be able to play the whole thing through first then the clips
It’s hard to dip in and out of the videos to look at the ingredients. In general the app is frustrating.
The videos never mention putting the oven on or what temperature and it’s clunky getting out of the videos and in to resources to check
Some of the recipes seemed like an adaptation of a standard recipe to being plant based. ie the cheese sauce. Most vegan cheese sauces have more vegan cheese and nooch 25g of vegan cheese would never be enough. Was very bland.
Very disappointed in the tofu scramble. One of the reasons I signed up . Most on line recipes contain more than just tofu and oil. This was very disappointing.
Were the people in the videos actors or chefs? Some of the plating up was terrible and no real teaching of knife skills.
The feedback is largely’ nice colour on that’ ‘that looks good’ Though hard to see quite what can be done on line. Little constructive feedback if saying’the sauce was a bit bland’ for example.
Some of the recipes were repetitive. Chestnut Mushroom Sausage Rolls and a mushroom filo roast for example.
Positives were learning how to cook amazing mushrooms, buckwheat pancakes, olive oil cake. Seeingother people’ food and photos. Learnings some new recipes- particularly the cakes. Learning how to make smooth batters for pancakes.
Overall largely enjoyed it, not as vibrant as I expected with some repetition in the recipes and some bizarre amounts in the recipes- use of vegan Parmesan which tastes awful. The face to face ones are much better but a long way away
Fantastic experience
Had a fantastic experience! I learned so much, from new recipes I would never have tried on my own to improving my cooking techniques. The course was engaging, and I really enjoyed every moment in the kitchen. My confidence has grown, and the dishes I now make taste so much better. I’ll definitely be signing up for another course! Highly recommend it to anyone looking to up their cooking game!
Very comprehensive
Very comprehensive - a great range of dishes to learn skills and very clear.
Enjoyable and educational course
The course was well organised so it was easy for us to buy the ingredients and be ready for each session. The video tutorials were clearly explained and pitched at the right level for teenagers. We had so much fun learning to cook together and enjoying the meals afterwards.

The online videos were clear with excellent tutors. It was good to receive individual feedback back each week. Really recommend the course.
Variety of great tasty dishes.
The course is great for anyone wanting to learn new techniques and skills in the kitchen. Learning really important basics about key ingredients that you can use in other dishes. Helps understand how some ingredients be cooked differently too. I have learnt so much. Some dishes are surprisingly really quick and easy too! Thanks Leiths!

I really loved the content of the course - the theory was excellent and I really appreciated the diversity of the recipes.
Brilliant
The course was very well thought. All the recipes were delicious, and courses were easy to follow. Each recipe concentrated on new food preparation and cooking techniques. My son enjoyed it a lot and felt very proud of himself after completing each recipe. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed the course and learned a lot initially. Two recipes a week felt a bit intense, and the cost of ingredients would deter me from taking another course.

The course material was easy to follow and the support is definitely there if you need it.
I will be looking to do more advanced courses in the near future.
I enrolled on the beginners course and already I feel that I have gained a lot more confidence in cooking, even at an entry level.
Absolute waste of money
Absolute waste of money. I wouldn't recommend doing this course to anyone. All it is is a series of pre-recorded cooking sessions and you can find more informative, and better recipes for free on Instagram and YouTube etc. Also note that its run by a third party - not Leiths. It feels like a money making machine and I was really surprised that a company which promotes such high values and professionalism as Leiths would do this

DofE bronze course
My daughter loved this course and learnt to cook safely with very little input from us. The videos, modelling the cooking process, was easy to follow and easy to pause or rewind when needed. They were aimed at the correct level for a 14 year old beginner to follow. The meals were delicious and encouraged a picky eater to try different foods.
Fantastic cooking course for my teenager
Such a fantastic course for older children. Taught the basics through to more complex dishes. Delivered through easy step by step videos and finished with constructive, encouraging personal feedback for each student. Thank you very much.
