Does not work

Don’t waste your money l purchased the


Don’t waste your money l purchased the EV charge and had it fitted as part of our new build,I’ve never been able to connect the charger to the internet even though I have Starlink which gives me 400 mb , you have to register it as a public charge .
All I wanted was to just plug my car in and charge and never been able to use it
Customer is all AI so no help at all

I am sorry I didn't checked reviews before buying this EV charger. I don't Know what to do with this charger? It can be operated only with App and always it goes offline and trying to re-connect is a big task. There is no support. Also it doesn't show up on Octopus app and every time my Octopus Go plan will be terminated. Its a nightmare

Purchased 10m Masterplug Type 2 Charger


Purchased 10m Masterplug Type 2 Charger Feb 25, now has fault. Im a bluebadge holder and have been without my car now for 6 days as this is the only way I can charge it. They've accepted it's faulty and keep stating one will be sent out. Don't hear anything. Absolute garbage aftersales/technical support, would not recommend them at all, and definitely wouldn't purchase again.

No Support for a Faulty RCD Olug

I bought a Masterplug RCD through Amazon. It failed after about 4 months. As I bought the plug through Amazon, I thought a replacement would be easy to get; however, on reporting the failure the Amazon website refers to a Masterplug website, which then directs you to fill in a form and promises that someone will contact you. I have completed this process twice, without a reply. I will try and take this up with Amazon as they were the seller. But others should be aware that it is not simple to get a replacement for a faulty good when obtained through Masterplug. I will also now leave an Amazon product review to help other buyers.

Quick resolution to issue with power cable

I spoke with Eden on the customer services phone number cited on my faulty power cable reel. She was very helpful and asked me to send an email with details. The company replied within a couple of hours to say that they would replace the reel. I can’t fault their customer service. Thank you.

Overworked customer service and incomplete documentation

At beginning of April I bought an EV charger and had it installed. Last Tuesday (27 May) it disconnected from the internet and was therefore unusable. I followed the troubleshooting instructions but couldn’t reconnect. I called the Monta app team who told me to follow the troubleshooting instructions. I tried to call Masterplug where I was 2nd in the queue for over 50 minutes before I was cut off. I called electrician who tried to reinstall the charger but he didn’t have the authority to connect the charger. He called Masterplug but got no higher than 2nd in queue. I emailed Masterplug service with the details and received a response asking for the device number and replied immediately with the number and included a photo. With no response by Monday I rang again but I couldn’t get through! On Tuesday I managed to talk to someone who offered to get the service team to call me. It is now Friday and no call back or email response. When I called today I was still in the queue for over 40 minutes before I got another call. When I switched back the line was dead.

I eventually managed to talk to someone after 3 weeks of emails and calls. They were extremely good and helped me to resolve my issues within 30 minutes. So I have updated my review.

Unable to register warranty

Warranty unable to be registered as JPEG’s cannot be uploaded to their portal apparently, when required to supply detail of proof of purchase I.e. a picture of the receipt & taking a photo via the option within the portal also fails.
Warranty is worthless if you are unable to register.
Disappointing

Very Satisfied.

I purchased their tethered Mode 3 EV Charger at a very reasonable price and had it installed as required in accordance with their instructions. Connecting the Charger to my phone and the house WiFi via the MV Installer App was straightforward. Setting up the Monta App to control the changing for my PHEV was also very straightforward and it has worked flawlessly from the first day. Charger appears well made and has a 3 year warranty.

Absolutely terrible products

Absolutely terrible products. A once great company now producing cheap crap made in China under licence. Twice in a row Masterplug heavy duty 13 amp outdoor switched sockets have literally just failed after less than six months of use.

I use them to charge my EV. They’re only pulling 1.9 KW but after a few months, the crappy switchgear just gives up and the power to the charger just flickers on and off and then stops altogether. The switch breaks off inside the socket - even though I never touch it.

Clearly the components used in this awful piece of badly made and unsafe socket are just unable to handle electricity passing through them for more than a few hours.

Do not buy.

Affordable EV charger with great customer service

I purchased the Masterplug EV charger through Argos. The electrician himself did help with the Wifi connection and I downloaded the Monta App to control it. Since I was with Octopus, somehow they could not see my charger as connected but I was able to charge using the Monta App. So I removed the Masterplug app connection to reinstalled this and disconnected the Monta. The Masterplug app was not finding the blue tooth the second time and I tried physical reboot. When I called Masterplug customer service, Neil who answered the phone was extremely helpful. Advised me to download a different app and guided me through all steps after yet another physical reboot. Guided me on how to use it without the Wifi connection and also to add it later if required. He was kind enough to give a follow up call too in between to say it has definitely connected before. My charger is working fine with Octopus Intelligent tariff since then, and my impression is that this charger is affordable and great for the price and in my experience customer service (Neil) has been outstanding.
Only suggestion is to have clarity in the information leaflet if I need to register to have the 3 year warranty or is it automatic. I have written to find that out.

Terrible product DO NOT BUY

Terrible product DO NOT BUY. Fitted our
Domestic charger next to the garage.
My wife and I, together with the electrical engineer ( who installs electrical car chargers all the time ) spent several
Hours on there App followed the instructions in the box and simply cannot get the thing to work. Masterplug customers support is unbelievably utterly useless provided no help what so ever. I sure they will write a preformatted response below which again will be of no help.

Terrible product, even worse "support"

Masterplug EV charger generates a fault – usually immediately, but occasionally after a few minutes.

Luceco (who now own Masterplug) say that I need a separate circuit dedicated to EV charging – despite there being no mention of this in the product literature (which explicitly says that it "uses a standard domestic 3 pin socket") and the expectation that a "Granny Charger" will work at your granny's (who's unlikely to have such a circuit).
