Last time they had a serious review score was when my grandpa had to walk backwards on his hands uphill to school.

Jokes aside, never trust an "official" review site. They are all bought. Go on YT and watch ppl playing, read steam reviews, buy it and try it out for <2hrs and get a refund from steam if you did not like it. BUT NEVER TRUST THESE SITES.

Leider einfach keine gute Plattform, unabhängig mal von der überlagerten Werbung überall. Sobald in Spielen, die Meinungen nur etwas auseinander gehen, gibt es nur 0 und 10 Punkte Bewertungen. Leider tut Metacritic nichts dagegen. Gerade wenn es eine Hatewelle gibt werden solide und gute Spiele einfach schlecht gebasht mit 0 Punkten, was soll das.

Metacritic Music gives a 403-error. Unreachable.

The site is very shadowy about how they ban users. It seems some movies or games can't have negative opinions about them without triggering automatic bans. This does not happen if you leave glowing reviews on the same product. This leads to positive review bombings, so the scores are not really balanced.

They are the most pathetic company to remove my honest and full written review of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. It goes to show how fake and corrupt they are, just like all the sheep who pretends there's nothing alarmingly wrong with this game. Utterly pathetic!

Edit: And now these incels deleted all of my reviews that I already backed up from before because I already know from other sources how pathetic, libtarded, childish, autistic they are! Deletes negative reviews on games if they get paid enough to do so

Metacritic is a steaming pile of garbage. The corrupted moderators blocked my account just for giving my honest opinion on video games. They love deleting negative reviews that don't fit their narrative. They kept deleting my review for Expedition 33, so I kept reposting my review like I usually do until they banned me. Metacritic doesn't notify you nor give you any reasons for the deletion. The only way to find out is if the total number of negative reviews decreases. Even though the mods have a history of deleting my reviews, I have survived every wave ban since 2018. But Clair Obscur was the final straw for them, which just so happens to have the highest user score ever. Oh sure, that's totally just a coincidence. A 9.7 and a 9.8 is a very unnatural score on Metacritic, clearly the whole thing was fabricated. Realistically it should've been a 8.8-9.3. The truth is Metacritic doesn't want you to give negative scores to the critic darlings. But if you give COD, Madden or hated games like Saints Row a 0, they don't even bat an eye. Metacritic mods are just a bunch of nerdy toy-collecting weirdos with a "BG3/Witcher 3 good; COD/FIFA bad" superiority complex.

I know what you corrupted mods are going to say "but your reviews are harsh" how so? Because I use terms like stupid and pathetic? Well what do you want me to freaking say? So instead of calling things garbage and trash, do you want me to say unremarkable and repugnant? I ain't saying any of that fancy bullcrap, I'm no college nerd. I'll say whatever the hell is on my God dang mind and leave it at that. Is it because I call devs greedy and lazy? But it's true. Is it because I call things woke? Journalists and devs started the culture war in video games, not me. And don't you dare use that as an excuse to ban me, because I've seen users that aren't offensive, and you still banned them, all because they broke the unwritten rule of Metacritic: you can't give the internet darlings a negative score. And I even toned down my reviews, and you still weren't content, because I broke the unwritten rule. And besides, there's no user guidelines nor do you give us reasons for deleting reviews. And as long as that's the case, then my reviews are my way or the highway. "But you give too many 0s" I refuse to lower my standards. Higher prices means higher standards. You made 0 an option, you mean to tell me I can't use the option that you gave me? So stupid.

My last review was for Mario Kart World posted from my backup accounts, and they all got banned instantly once the mods saw "OnlyOneHere" anywhere in the username, so they want nothing to do with me, which is a huge mistake and I'll explain in my final paragraph. They are heavily monitoring negative reviews for MKW, and they always do that crap for the critic darlings when the user review window opens. They're a bunch of dictators who only want you to share the same opinions as critics. You'll know you're banned once you get a "sorry, can't post right now, try again later" when you submit a review. So basically they're lying that you can try again later, and that's why you can't trust Metacritic.

This site was always buggy, but once Metacritic blocked me from making reviews, it got even buggier. Blocking wasn't good enough for one of the mods, so he tried to remove my account altogether and failed miserably, so now there's more bugs than ever before with the "uh-oh" bug infesting 2/3 of profiles, and it will only get worse the longer they have me banned. And yes, I take credit for that because it's no coincidence that all of these bugs came after my ban. I'm no tech nerd, but trying to remove a veteran user with a wide range of posts (especially if that user existed before a UI makeover) will break the site's code, stupid. I bet that's why I have survived so many wave bans; clearly not all mods are aware of this ban. Well now you know, so you literally have no choice but to unban me, unless you want to shell out for a programmer, which will probably cost you all the money you got from companies to manipulate user reviews.

The only valuable information that comes from this website is being obscured more and more for the sake of money.

It used to be a way better website, when user reviews had ratings and you could actually almost always read a 100% based and informed take on literally anything.

They are instead pushing the "Critic reviews" That are utter garbage, often completely worthless and corrupted by money, the detachment from reality is so unreal that it's funny to watch.
As an example, PC diablo4 at some point had a 0.5 user score (less than 5/100) while it had a critic review of over 85/100.

Everything is pushed to discourage and make user reviews hidden and boring to even write, they removed the entire system that promoted valuable reviews and not just 10-0 ones made to influence the score.

I also read of reviews being deleted, but that honestly never happened to me, I just see them being obscured and being made irrelevant.

This website is now mostly garbage and outived its usefulness

They are starting to BLOCK accounts from reviewing controversial games, movies, etc. No reasoning, no appealing. BIASED, and not to trust anymore.
From the end of October 2024 Metacritic went to the dark side, pandering to paid “professional” critics and censoring user reviews, their best games 2024 are all based on scores of paid critics not considering at all user reviews that are more honest than the garbage from paid critics.
Trust STEAM for Games.
Trust IMDB for Movies.

The loading time of this website almost makes it completely invalid. I'm not sure if it's the ads or the way the website is constructed. It's almost impossible to click on anything as you'll have to wait for the ads to load. Every single time I open it, my computer sounds like it's about to explode and I'm filled with regret as I close it again.

Who would bother to leave a review on this thing? The answer is actually zero, as they removed the ability to do so as a non-critic.

Why do they get to be a source of "critic" on anything, when their own site is this bad?

Seems like the premise of this website didn't hold up in the long run. Hope you'll figure something out and fix it. Goodbye and good riddance.

Great website. Reviews are, of course, subjective, but Metacritic's scoring system isn't as broad as Rotten Tomatoes which makes the results feel more realistic and easier to get a sense of whether a film is potentially good, bad or mediocre.

It's been three months since I can't leave reviews on Metacritic, they banned me without giving any explanation and there's no way to ask for explanation on their website. They delete your reviews and ban you if you don't say what they want, but they tell you nothing. You don't know if one of your reviews were deleted unless you manually check. Imagine how many users' scores are a fraud, since of course they only delete bad score reviews.

For movie reviews the metacritic score seems to be wildly inaccurate. Not it's fault maybe, as the reviewers seems to be overly harsh in a lot of cases. Would trust imdb score over metacritic anyday.

It's a good site to use if you want true user reviews for a TV show, film or a video game. It's not perfect but it's better than its competition. Don't bother with the critic reviews as these days more often than not they're out of touch with the tastes of regular people and metacritic has no verification in place to prove that the publisher of the film/game hasn't bought that positive review. Yeah there's a lot of bots on the site (as does rottentomatoes and opencritic) who both review bomb and review uplift the scores on there, but the most handy feature the site offers is that you can deep dive into individual users to see what else they've rated. This way you can spot bots and more importantly you can see the scores and reviews that legitimate users have given to other films/shows/games, so you can see if your tastes match. Just find a user that has similar tastes to you from their past activity and use their recommendations on what to watch/play next.

This site is owned by both Fandom and Paramount, so they've lost their claim to objective unbiasedness when it comes to both critic and user reviews. Personally I don't believe that they're censoring or removing reviews to improve some products ratings, I think they're just removing user reviews that break their terms of service or posting code of conduct. Look at the user reviews for the acolyte or dustborn for proof of that. And Metacritic is nowhere near as bad as Rotten tomatoes is, for being anti consumer and hiding user scores/reviews. That said I have no faith that they remove any reviews that break their terms if it's positive towards a product, so there is some bias in what they allow on their site. Regardless you can filter these out by looking at the account that posted the review. 99% of the time they're clearly from a burner account and aren't worth giving any consideration towards.

Generally a pretty good indication of how good a game is. When it comes to movies/tv I usually go for rotten tomatos or imdb, so can't commnet on Metacritic for that.

But so far for xbox/switch games, its been pretty good.
