I am in Public Service and have had my loans since 2012 and have been making payments since then, however, once MOHELA bought my loans my experience has been nothing but confusing and dishonest. According to them I just started paying on my loans and when I attempt to complete an application for SAVE, The Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, they advise me Im not qualified to consolidate my loans and to continue making payments. I received an email saying one of my loans was paid off, however, not only does my balance not show that my loan balance his higher.
They Deserve Bankruptcy
If I could sue this company I would. I was quoted that my payment would $218.00 under the SAVE plan but that it wouldnât be able to process until it had been six months after graduation. I called at that point and was assured that all was well and I would begin my $218 payments in June. Imagine my surprise to get a $540 bill. I called, waited for over an hour, but was assured that this was a clerical error as only half of my loans had been placed on SAVE. They gave me a two month forbearance to let it âcatch upâ with all my loans transferred to SAVE. The next month, I got the same bill and went through an identical process of solving the problem. They were apologetic and assured me that it would be right this time. Well it is September now and Iâve heard nothing so I called, again waiting for about an hour, only to be told that, oops, they still hadnât transferred half, and now because of whatever is happening in the courts, they canât. So due to their (multiple time) error, I have to pay more than twice what I was quoted, for the next 10 years. I demanded to speak to a supervisor, and was put on hold, with the initial operator coming through at two-minute intervals asking me to keep holding. FINALLY she tells me sheâs connecting me, and it is to a voicemail stating that they will call me back. I wonât hold my breath, and this company canât undo this for me. I have to come up with an additional $320 a month because they didnât make a simple adjustment when they still could.

I made a payment to one of my student loans to pay it off. The following week, they announce they were changing platforms. I just got a statement in the mail that not only does not reflect the payoff but shows even higher balances than before. On the old and new sites, they show no history of your loans. Their customer service is beyond incompetent and wait times for 30+minutes.

Mohela has gone months without updating the credit reporting agencies which is adversely impacting all of us with student ed loans. Reinstate monthly CRA updates for the sake of our FICO scores!!! We are heading into the Christmas shopping season and you are unintentionally harming credit scores by failing to report the proper balances and payments remitted on time. Correct this oversight swiftly for God's sake!

WORST LOAN SERVICER EVER
Every month there's something new. They stop my auto pay, they change it whenever they feel, they donât alert you about it or tell you why. They put you into programs you donât ask. My loan was put in forbearance with out my permission. It honestly feels like if you're trying to make payments over the minimum, they purposely mess with your loan to make you accrue more interest. Its easily the worst loan servicer I've ever had. You cant even set up you own auto pay because the website is so awful. Go ANYWHERE else!

My recent experience with MOHELA has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. The representatives appear to have no clear understanding of their jobs, often providing confusing and contradictory information. Each interaction leaves me more confused and frustrated than before.
One of the most glaring issues is the complete unavailability of supervisors. Despite numerous attempts to speak with a supervisor to resolve my issues, I have never been able to get one on the phone. This lack of accessibility and accountability is unacceptable and only adds to the frustration.
The communication from MOHELA is equally poor. I have received letters that are difficult to understand and often make no sense in the context of my situation. For weeks now, I have been waiting for a reaffirmation confirmation to submit to my school, but I have been unable to get it. The representatives I have spoken to seem to have no clue about the status of my request or how to expedite it.
The entire system appears to be in dire need of proper training. The lack of knowledge and customer service skills among the representatives is shocking. However, the supervisors and managers are even worse, as they do not answer phones or return calls. This lack of responsiveness and professionalism is unacceptable for an organization that handles such important matters.
My experience with MOHELA has been a nightmare. The representatives are untrained and unhelpful, the supervisors are unreachable, and the overall communication is abysmal. This organization needs to implement significant improvements in training and customer service to effectively support its clients. Call is place every week is really tiring.

They send these boiler plate letters that donât make any sense and then itâs nearly impossible to reach anyone for clarification. Their automated system is absolutely garbage. Sometimes they allow a callback number and sometimes they donât. I just went through the entire numerical process to only be sent through three times on a loop, get it together Mohela.

This is the most inept company in the United States. They should go directly to jail: do not pass go and do not collect $200. Why they were chosen to handle PLSF is a mystery that can only be explained by the US government hoping MOHELA messes it up so bad that nobody gets their loans forgiven.
Poor admin and customer service.
Had a loan paid off through refinance. For whatever reason they didnât accurately communicate the payoff balance well so it was substantial. Mohela never issued a check for the overpayment. Iâve paid off loans before and had checks for like 2 cents issued without ever needing to contact anyone. I wouldnât be annoyed about having to contact them if it werenât for the 2 minute public service announcements just to get to prompts for service and getting hung up on the first time I called in.

Mohela is the absolute worst student loan service company. It is June 3, 2024 and I have been waiting for 2 replacement student loan refund checks from AUGUST 2023! I have called several times since last fall and after being on hold for over an hour each time, just to be told that the replacement checks are still being processed. One phone call I had to compete with the agentâs crying infant just to be heard. It absolutely does take this long to replace 2 checks. Utterly ridiculous.

First and foremost, their customer service representatives are consistently rude and unhelpful. Whenever I've had the misfortune of needing assistance, I've been met with dismissive attitudes and condescending remarks. It's as if they have no regard for borrowers' struggles in navigating the complexities of student loan repayment. I made a payment in March that they said I didn't have to make and said they would send the payment back. I never received the payment back and it has not been applied to my account.

The worst company maybe to exist, period. Not only are they clawing away money from the public, but they are doing in a negligent and corrupt manner. There's no accountability for their "mistakes." 10 hour wait times for phones calls, app doesn't work, payments never processed. When you do get in contact with someone, they are not helpful. The few reps that I did speak with said they didn't have access to the system to help me, and weren't sure how to find a solution. 2 years later and they still have qualified PSLF payments. This provider should be shut down asap! I'm wondering if legal action should be taken against their egregious failures.

I paid off my student loan on February 28 2024 of over 6k. It is still showing a balance and they show Iâm late and in April took a payment out of my account. I have emailed them and spoke to 3 customer service robots who dont know whatâs going on. Honestly I want to sue them along with the government for allowing this type of non service to happen. My payment cleared my account same day and they say itâs still pending - almost 3 months later. Where is my money? They need to make this right!!!!
HOW IS THIS LEGAL?
They transition to a new platform and lock the old platform so no account information is available online. I managed to get a representative on the phone in less than an hour last week but they cannot provide any account information either. Payments can be made by check only until the transition is complete but wait, it will take 60-90 days to process a check via USPS and the kicker is they WILL mark me delinquent in the meantime. How is any of this legal? Fast forward...today, I receive an email that my loan transition is complete so I register for the new .gov site and there is no account history, NONE whatsoever. How is this legal? Why does no one help? I have filed complaint upon complaint with various consumer protection agencies. I have contacted my representatives in Congress and the Senate. No one replies and no one cares. This will never be fixed as long as the incompetent and corrupt government has their hands in it.

They are a joke. I have applied and have been approved for a $0 repayment plan. They are still billing me according to the standard repayment. Every time I call, their system says they will call back within 50 minutes. I have called four times, never receiving a call back or an answer.
