I tried Mother Root as the advertising, branding and health goals aligned with what I was looking for, but the product failed to live up to the hype. I purchased a bottle at Waitrose in the ‘Low & No’ section for £24.95 (marked down from £27.95), which still feels incredibly expensive for the experience it delivers.

The flavour profile is very sharp and completely dominated by Apple Cider Vinegar. While I understand the 'burn' is meant to mimic alcohol, it lacks the complexity and sophistication I would expect from a premium non-alcoholic spirit at this price point.

Ultimately, it felt like paying a premium for a drink I could have mixed at home for a fraction of the cost. I won't be purchasing this again and wouldn't recommend it to those looking for a refined alcohol alternative.

Disappointing purchase.

I was so looking forward to this!.. but am now hugely disappointed. Followed all instructions on bottle but smell and taste of vinegar was so overpowering. Basically it's a £28 bottle down the sink.... how dragons den backed this is beyond me completely!!!

My order was dispatched and delivered in super quick time and I’m looking forward to enjoying this drink during January and beyond. My first aperitif last night was delicious and I slept really well, as opposed to when I’ve consumed alcohol, which is an added benefit.

Recived my bottle of Mother Root ..think its way over priced and the ginger is quite over powering. I am using it now in the morning with warm water adding more cider vinger and lemon as a shot .

My delivery didn’t turn up due to Ervi and I informed Mother roots within 2 days they shipped another order out to me. Excellent customer services.

Their response was timely and addressed my concern.

I love ginger and really wanted an alcohol free drink to enjoy but I am finding this too vinegary for me.

This drink was intriguing and I quite enjoyed the taste but, on the nose it’s not good! A good drink must have both elements. The smell of the apple cider vinegar is over powering and unpleasant.

It’s also too expensive for what it is. Especially with no tax/duty on the cost! So I doubt I’d buy it again. Whilst of course flavour/smell can be very personal and not for everyone regardless I do believe it’s too expensive.

Sadly very disappointing, it was like ginger cordial. Definitely didn’t live up to be what I was expecting from the marketing. Pleasant drink however not worth the hefty price tag.

I ordered 2 bottles as I love ginger and wanted a special Christmas treat for all the family to enjoy. I decided to open a bottle before the holidays, as I was so excited to try it. Oh boy - it is disgusting! The overwhelming flavour and smell is vinegar. It sits in the stomach like a sour fish and chip supper. I tried to disguise the flavour with more soda water and slices of orange and it still tasted like some weird hair spritz. That’s probably the only place I’d put it. One positive - I opened a bottle before I inflicted it on my family. It’s going down the sink as I speak.

When I emailed to say my original order hadnt arrived the customer service was excellent. They resent me another bottle straight away. Can’t fault them at all!

Since the last review I have had today a Royal Mail delivery which I didn’t know was coming, must of been a replacement from Mother Root to compensate for the original delivery companies incompetence, hence my revised review

I absolutely adore ginger , its my go too food to cure every ailment along with pure natural local sourced raw honey.This coupled along with apple cider vinegar ( must be unpasteurised to gain the benefits of "the mother")and chilli its a white witches delight.
The tangy tart taste grabs your attention straight away, a touch of chilli along with the fiery ginger really packs a powerful punch.The aftertaste is vingery so be prepared that
I love it, my family and husband definitely do not! reminiscing and not in a good way of a xmas when my favourite present was a manual for' 100 things to do with vinegar 'and the entire family was subjected to a daily dose of vinegar, the house was squeaky clean but stinking of our local chipper!
So to fully enjoy this drink you absolutely must love apple cider vinegar and due to the cost of the product it might be well worth trying apple cider vinegar beforehand.
My personal view is this tasty treat is not just an alternative for the teetotallers but a tipple of natural health benefits which you could incorporate into your daily routine, your gutbwill certainly thank you for it , at a cost of around £24 What's not to love 😉

Incredible taste, better with soda than tonic but this is down to preference! Beautiful packaging, almost finished the bottle and it’s only been two weeks !

I had problems with my delivery - wrong postcode. I contacted Mother Root, and had an email reply within a day, advising that another had been sent via a different carrier, and that should my original appear, to keep it on the house. It hasn't (yet), but superb customer service. The replacement has arrived
