Best trip EVER! Lodges were cozy and authentic. Service was always unexpected and surpassing expectations. Guides were great! Knowledgeable, kind and patient and always had our safety and health in mind. The trip offered us something new and a window into Peruvian history and culture. LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!

An epic overall experience! The guide was excellent. The accommodations were beautiful and everything was looked after in a first class manner. I highly recommend the trip with Mountain Lodges of Peru. In fact, I have recommended them to several people.

The Trip was exceptional. The guides were knowledgeable, helpful, and encouraging when we needed it. The small group made it extra special. The lodges were beyond comfortable, with nice common areas and great food.I did feel rushed at Machu Piccu. We had to get back in time for lunch before getting on the train. Had we been given a box lunch instead, we could have had another hour at the site.

I think MLP is one of the best Peruvian products - absolutely love every aspect of it!

Outstanding, knowledgeable, professional, kind hearted, fun and experienced guides made our trip the best trip ever (and we have traveled a lot around the world).

We had a fantastic trip from beginning to end. The lodges were beautiful, excellent service and amenities (i.e. massages, hot tub was filled, boots were cleaned), the food was well prepared and delicious and we had absolutely amazing guides.

We felt safe, secure and well cared for throughout our experience.

We recommend Mountain Lodges to everyone we talk to about our trip.

Their lodges are nothing less than spectacular—grander and more hospitable than I ever anticipated. The guides were superb. They were deeply knowledgeable, attentive, but relaxed, friendly, even delightfully playful at moments. In villages and towns, they were so comfortable among the indigenous people that it made us feel welcome as well. The food was always excellent. In all, I couldn’t recommend the trek with greater enthusiasm.

The MLP Inn to Inn trip was notable for excellent guides and much attention to detail. It was a perfect opportunity for serious Andes hiking during the day with a comfy hotel bed, cooked local supper and breakfast, and hot shower at the beginning and end of each day. The lodges are beautiful and the hosts are solicitous and gracious. Having an outdoor hot tub, a warm local meal, and a comfy hotel room with en suite bathroom was decadent and lovely. We had a guide who was knowledgeable about local history, customs, flora, fauna, and food for those who were interested. With all of this, the hiking itself was really special - with the dramatic scenery you'd imagine. Neither my wife nor I had any complaints. Even our weather was great. Indeed this was one of the greatest trips we've taken and we're actively searching for where else on earth we might replicate such an experience.

I can see 2 pitfalls to consider. The group consists of 2 guides, 6 couples, and support as needed depending on the strength of the group (we started with one person with a mule for water and a mule for anyone unable to hike .. but ended up with a 3rd mule when 2 from our group were unable to hike the most difficult area). The dynamic among our group was great which added to the enjoyment (actually we were 5 couples and 1 single). We've heard of some groups less successful with each other socially.

Also, despite the luxury of the set up (mules carrying our bags, mules carrying extra water so all you need is a water bottle and a hat, all food served along the way, hotel beds every night), the hiking is real. You need to be able to hike up to 2,000 feet of gain at high altitude. The paths are gentle but up is up and the altitude is significant (starting at 12,000 feet, then up to 14,000 feet one day to prep, then up to 15,000 feet for the pass). The 2 who had difficulty both would have done better with more time spent at altitude adjusting. My wife and I spent 2 days in the Sacred Valley (9,000 feet?) and then 2 days in Cuzco (12,000 feet) which left us quite comfortable. We took Diamox for 36 hours that included the highest pass but it mostly made us pee. I'm not sure it was necessary -- we didn't use it for the 14,000 foot practice day and were fine. Those who only took Diamox, but didn't arrive early, got dehydrated and weren't helped.

One more item.... our group included 8 people in our 50s and one aged 40 something along with 2 in their 60s. My wife and I worried we'd be left in the dust by young hikers but that was not the case. Still, one of the 60 somethings and one of the 50 somethings were not ready for the altitude and suffered. Both ended being OK riding mules at the difficult stretch and were able to stay with the group.

It was a great trip. We went on some challenging hikes and saw some spectacular sights. The accommodations and food each night were out of this world.

Amazing time overall. Great lodging, great guides, great food. Peru can't be beat for the landscapes and biomes. Absolutely incredible trek.

Our trip with MLP was truly the trip of a lifetime!
We arrived two days early in Cuzco and stayed at El Mercado. We had a wonderful time exploring the city and visiting Qorikancha and the markets.
Our tour guides were Dalmiro and Jose. Both were FANTASTIC!! Dalmiro in particular is extremely knowledgable about and proud of his part of the world, and his enthusiasm is contagious. We had 6 in our travel group plus a family of 3, so 9 total on the tour plus the guides. The daily hikes were incredible, wonderful scenery and lots of llamas and alpacas along the way. The lodges are beautiful, the first night at Lamay Lodge in particular. All the meals was delicious and plentiful. Five of us did the 6 hour Short Inca Trail on Day 4, which was a long day but well worth the effort. The views were fabulous along the way and it was incredible when we reached the Sun Gate and looked down on Machu Picchu! Jose hiked with us while Dalmiro toured with the rest of our group. Also, a shout out to our fantastic drivers of our 2 vans! I definitely recommend Mountain Lodges of Peru!

Gorgeous scenery, beautiful staff and a home to rest after each long day’s trek. If you’re going to do Salkantay Pass, you must do it with Mountain Lodges.

A group of 3 friends and I did the Sacred Valley and Lares 5 day lodge to lodge trip in August of 2019. Words can't describe how wonderful our trip was. Our guide Felix was simply amazing. The accommodations at the lodges were 5 star level while also being relaxed and unpretentious. The food was plentiful and delicious. The hiking was tailored to our groups physical abilities, it was vigorous but doable. The best part of it all was the immersion in the culture of Peru that introduced us to such beautiful people and their traditions. I don't have words for how special that was. I highly recommend MLP to anyone who wants to have a life changing experience and really get to know this country on a very special journey.

Some lodges were medium. And there was lot less trekking then what was initially announced.
Service in some of the lodges were also mediocre.
Overall, not worth all it costs.
