DO NOT Use Samsung Trade Ins
I was provided with mailing instructions for my trade in device, followed the steps to the letter, I even took evidence for myself so I could prove it had been sent.
After nearly 2 months after sending the phone and 0 correspondence, they have charged me the discount I received for the phone purchase with NO contact or consultation beforehand on how to resolve the issue or to ask for evidence so they can raise a claim with the royal mail.
They've denied my claims and ignored clear evidence, advised the Samsung support reps there is nothing more they can do and essentially closed off contact.
I'm no longer going to be recommending Samsung to anyone, especially if they use this scummy trade in company in their locations as well.
Surly and unhelpful 'Customer Service'âŠ
Surly and unhelpful 'Customer Service' staff. They advertise FREE POSTAGE for the traded in item, but that only applies if the item is <£100 and you can print off the postage label they email you - no alternative method available. The 'sorry that is our policy' did not seem that sincere either.
Absolute scammers
Absolute scammers. Sent my phone back to them in good faith in perfect functioning condition (had a couple of slight scratches on the factory-fitted screen protector). The gave a value of £130 initially. Then I got an email saying the phone had screen-burn and would only give me £30 for it. I declined this offer and asked for my phone back. They sent a phone back to me, but it WASN'T the phone I had sent them (I would recognise it because of the slight scratches). This was was in much worse condition with more scratches and blemishes. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF.
DON'T TRADE IN YOUR PHONE WITH SAMSUNG
Did a trade in with Samsung and apparently this company deals with them. On receiving the phone I sent to them, which was in mint condition when it left me in its original packaging and then bubbe wrapped, they claimed it has a crack in the back panel. They included a picture of the back of my phone which shows no crack in it. They now want me to pay 50 excess. They are basically trying to rob me blind. Had I known what company was dealing with it, I would have done some research and would never have done a trade in with Samsung, this company has a reputation of faking damage to get money back. This company is a crimal organisation. This reflects very badly on Samsung as well.
Filing a police fraud report against them as we speak.
Absolute gangstersâŠ
Absolute gangsters⊠quote one price and then pay another. Said camera lens was damaged. Sent a picture that showed no damage. Poor poor company. Would never use them again. Stay away
Bad experience
I have trade in my Samsung flip3 and MTR said it's poor (????) quality so I have to pay £110 on the top if I want to get discount. IT WAS DEFO GOOD QUALITY!!!!! I think they just laundering money....
Appalling
Appalling level of service. Sent ipad to this company in its original retail box, all in A1 condition only to receive an email to advise that the device had a bend to it. It certainly hadn't been like that at the time of sending and I can only assume it to have been impacted in the postal system. MTR offered £5 instead of the quoted £80!. I asked that the device be returned only to receive it without its original box. MTR advise that t&cs state that original packing wont be returned. Why therefore suggest that items are posted in retail packing? Moreover, the slight bend was reversed with absolute ease. And so, Iâm left with an ipad (in perfect working order) without its original box which I always keep for originality. Woefully bad service, and will certainly avoid this company in the future.
Pleasantly surprised after reading negative reviews
I was upset after reading all the negative reviews. I honestly thought âoh well no way am I going to get the money promised for my IPhoneâ. I posted my phone on the Friday and an email was sent this morning Tuesday stating received. This afternoon the transaction completed and the promised money is in my bank account .
I can only speak from my experience but I am happy.
Great service
In spite of negative reviews I had an excellent experience with this company. I noticed them on Very. Contacted about a trade in heard back almost immediately with a quote I was very happy with.
Postage Label was attached to in my email from them.
On the day my item was delivered to them I had confirmation of item received within the hour. Within two hours the company confirmed the quoted amount of money would be paid into my bank account....and it was.
Can't fault them at all
Stay away
Stay away. Offered me £600 for a Macbook but when they got it they sent me a pic stating it was faulty due to a creased charger. Now the prove was £90.
I'm fuming that I fell for it. Very recommended them. They need to stop as people are being scammed.
Disgusting company, blame you for being a fraud
I got a confirmation saying that they received my device and will process on the same day.
I waited 1 day, 2 days. Sent them a question. No answer. Waited for another day. No answer. And then after 7 days, this scammer told me that I am a fraud and they will not dealing with me. My phone is gone with this scam!
âWe are aware of these fraudulent order's and we urge you to stop placing future order's as we have created a report with your behaviour and we will be reporting this accordinglyâ.
I urge Samsung to stop using this scam company.
I am gutted!
I am gutted!!
Sent my Samsung in perfect condition offered me £230 for it and within me sending it on Tuesday to them getting it on Thursday the screen and back has come away and offered me £30... I don't think so !! Something very dodgey... I rang and they said it was the battery to big for the phone... oh but for the past 2 years its been fine. What an absolute con!! I have asked for the phone back and declined the offer so let's see what state it comes back in. I am gutted and feel taken advantage of !!!
UPDATE
I have had the phone returned to me and its absolutely fine. There is nothing at all wrong with it so I feel they must have used a photo of a different phone!!
Thieving scum
The situation:
I recently bought a new phone from Samsung taking a trade in deal. I didn't really want another Samsung phone as my 9 month old one stopped charging via the cable and only charged via a wireless charger which was slow and a bit of a pain in the backside. I nearly returned it under warranty but then discovered they have to be wiped when they're sent for repair and while a bit lazy of me transferring banking apps and so on would have been a pain in backside so lived with it.
Fast forward to today and I got an email saying
Since we have not received your old trade-in device within the given time frame (or you have decided to keep it), the special offer on your new Galaxy device is now invalid. This means there is a fee of £330.00 to pay to reimburse the discount you received when purchasing your new device. Please use the link below to pay this fee now.
I questioned this as I have proof of postage.
They then replied:
'The reason you have received a payment request is because you received promotion discount of £550 for Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G - 256GB but you sent A51 which you would only have received discount of £220 the difference is required to complete your order.'
That's weird it's surely one or the other? I'm guilty of neither.
It's a bit convenient for Samsung as I'm now outside of the 14 day cooling off period to return the new device. I called customer services and said I'll return the new device and take my old one back but said I can't do either.
I took photos and videos of the packaging, proof of purchase of the S22 I sent them. A couple of weeks later they sent a video of them unpacking an A51 I've never owned. There's nothing else you can do to cover yourself.
Eventually locked my new device. I'm taking them to small claims court. I'll never buy another Samsung product as long as I live.
I believe they are a SCAM
They emailed me saying they were posting my order. I never placed an order, never dealt with them yet that had my details and debit card number.
BEWARE
They are used by samsung for trade ins
They are used by samsung for trade ins. Prepaid label had incorrect address according to Royal Mail. The item now lost and MTR rather than admitting liability blocked my S23 Ultra.
If using samsung for new purchases then avoid trade ins and sell your phone elsewhere.
Great service hassle free
found this company through Very after looking at new phones. Although I didnât get the phone through very, this company offered more than the general trade in price. Received the return bag on Thursday, used a more substantial packaging and returned in the bag provided and paid for the dearer postage to ensure it was covered if lost.
They received it Monday and by Tuesday afternoon the money was in my account for the full amount.
No problems, hassle free service. Would use again.
Do not use samsung trade in
Despite the fact screen burn is a common issue in all phones they expect the customer to pay to fix it and then give useless advice on how to avoid it rather then admit that its a fault with all oled screens. The fact multiple people have had the same issue but are all being asked to pay different prices just shows the scam for what it is and as many have stated , the problems weren't there before the trade in. The fact samsung uses this company just shows a lack of respect for the customer and the avoidance of stating how the trade ins work in detail and expecting customers to spend upwards of £25 to fix their trade in within 72 hours is disgusting.
Well upon reading a lot of bad reviewsâŠ
Well upon reading a lot of bad reviews about MTR on a lot ot different platforms i was expecting the absolute worst when trading in my old phone! I contacted them before hand and they reassured me that as long as the terms and conditions are followed there are not any issues. I promptly sent my phone and the trade in has been completed today, about a week later. So far it has been a simple process, will update this review however if anything crops up! Contact them beforehand is my advice and tell them of any concerns.
Not to be trusted
Like lots of other people here MTR have also tried to get money out of me. Sent my perfectly fine S20+ as part of trade in deal and even after having it checked in Samsung store where I wanted to see if the deal was better than online they said there were no issues with the phone....including no screen burn!!! MTR sent a poor quality picture of what they say is screen burn and wanted £75. I paid only for convenience but Samsung definitely need to take note of the continued complaints about MTR and do something about it....it's their reputation that's being hurt.
What happened?
handset was in perfect condition (bearing in mind in was a cheapo phone sent in on a 20 quid trade in, hardly the latest tech) and was sent photos claiming the back was coming off (which it wasn't when I sent it in) and they offered me £3. Asked for it to be returned so I'll just donate it to charity. Also worth bearing in mind the phone was sent in it's protective flip wallet so transit damage that would cause the frame to separate from the back in unlikely.
