Excellent product, love my bike

Optibike - High Performance eBikes

I bought my first Optibike (OB-1) in 2007 when I recognized that hub-motor eBikes do not work well on hilly terrain. Today I use one elite Optibike for commuting (22 miles RT) and another for off-road use (R15c). Both the machines and support team have been very solid and responsive. In summary, I have incredible respect and admiration for this entrepreneurial company.

Optibike is the best USA made bicycle company there is Bar non. The CEO (Jim) is super nice and helpful. Customer support is top notch. I like it so much I owned 3 of there bikes. I have The original 400R (10yrs old And still working fine) Optibike, Which lead me to purchase the newer R8 for myself and the Pioneer Allroad For my wife. It’s expensive but is a very good investment that will last you a very very long time. Hope this help those who are on the side line wanting to purchase an Optibike.

We have 2 in family 1- 1100 and 1 -850
Had for over 5 years and great bikes with no issues.
I still get over 20 miles on my batteries too.
I talked with service at optibike and they answered phone and solved my issue.

Optibike - the bike that saved me

These bikes still appear to be quiet the bike with all the low power slow moving Chinese bikes; opti bikes are like a breadth of fresh air. The ride feels un inhibited like you are free in the wind. A couple on road bikes decided to pass me on a narrow dirt trail in which the speed I was doing felt comfortable; they seemed to pass me like I was another slow ebike. The trail went back to concrete and was quiet wider I passed them in just a few seconds and they scoffed at me and stopped. It was very odd but I kept going with a smile on my face and my pedals still like they were frozen in place.

I bought the Optibike RMC Commuter. It took only 5 minutes to assemble out of the box. Very smart shipping box. The bike rides like a dream. I had a few smaller issues which Jim Turner fixed right away. He answers the phone himself and provides top shelf support. Ultimately, I had to make use of the return policy. The road I am on has many many potholes, and I have learned that the 24" wheels are super nimble, but cause too much vibration on bumps. I would buy one again.

Jim Turner is an amazing human being and I thouroughly enjoyed giving him my business for electric bikes. No other seller I encountered came close to being as knowledgeable as Jim, as well as able to share that knowledge at a beginner level.

Strong and sturdy e-bike, with a powerful motor.
Great for commuting due to its higher speeds, helping to keep up with urban traffic.

Good solid components with its very functional and low maintenance Rohloff hub.

My 10 year old bike is still working away, used almost daily for work commutes. On its second battery now, a 28ah version.

When the first battery wore out, I was with out use of my bike for about a year due to very slow lead times and a fault with the new battery which burnt out my bikes control board.

The second battery will need to be replaced soon, as it’s fading, it’s only about two years old.

My latest e-bike, a Specialized Levo, is much a better bike for trail riding and MTB racing and about 6kgs lighter.
Also the Brose motor is so much quieter than Optibike’s.
Having said that, I still enjoy the occasional trail spin on my old Optibike.

With so many new e-bikes from respected brands, using highly developed motor units from blue chip companies and their extensive dealer service networks, Optibike are now a very niche brand.
Ideal for those who want power over trail performance and for those who live in the Colorado and surrounding states.

A year ago I found Optibike and decided the best bike for me was the Rocky Mountain Commuter. It arrived July 31, 2018 in perfect condition and after a battery charge I began a summer of great rides on the hills and trails around Madison, WI. The bike came with every useful accessory needed; LED headlight, integrated rack with removable pannier, rear view mirror, bell, fenders, tail light, comfortable seat, and a powerful 500 watt mid-drive that handled every hill I encountered. Owner Jim Turner managed all the details in developing my purchase, and as an added bonus shipped me a free second 37 V. Li-ion battery. I get lots of comments from other riders about the attractiveness of my Rocky Mountain Commuter bike. I am very pleased with with all aspects of my purchase and riding experience with my RMC Optibike.

I’m impressed with the quality of their products and the company.

I have ridden my Optibike for one ten years and it is the best bike I've ever owned.

the roloff 14 speed hub does take a few miles to'wear in'
have got as many as 50 miles out of a charge
the fenders are kinda cheesy
rear fender was easily broken
the front was removed because of clearance difficulties...
any mud or gravel would grind between the tire and the fender...

the worst problem is parking...
bike thieves deserve a slow death !!!

There is no better company that builds a better bike, along with support along the way. 9 years riding optibike.

I was disappointed when there were no assembly instructions specifically for the Rocky Mountain Commuter and some parts were broken (tail light) or missing. The packaging was damaged when the constraints holding the front firms under compression failed and the handlebars were protruding from the container. There was no display on the lcd monitor for any function that requires the recording the revolutions of the rear wheel - speed and distance functions. I discovered a magnet supposed to be attached to the rear wheel spokes was missing. A sensor is supposed to register each time the magnet passes the sensor. This has still not been replaced. The derailleur set smallest sprocket started slipping and I was sent a replacement set that I had to replace myself.

Despite all the irritations the bike fits my needs well. The battery performance is great and the spare battery makes range anxiety disappear.

But poor first impressions are hard to overcome.

I had great communication with Mike when he was trying to sell me a bike. But the customer service after the purchase of my bike has been disappointing to say the least. Several unreturned emails when asking for warranty repair reimbursement for services performed here in LA. I was supposed to receive $50 as reimbursement for that warranty work which never appeared. And after sending repeated emails asking for it without a response I figured it was a hopeless cause.

I would absolutely think twice before spending thousands of dollars on another optibike.

It’s really too bad.

Best bikes and best service in the industry bar none.

Great customer support and service. I had a brake down on a E-bike purchased from another place. BIG MISTAKE! I called Optibike and he sent me the parts, walked me through the repair. I even received the part before he charged me.

We've loved Optibike's strong motorized bottom bracket and the excellent pedal-assist feel.
