Just received my May bill and Optimum decided to raise my monthly charge $14 per month. No notice, no explanation. This is what they have done since we first were forced into using their service about 3 years ago. I guess there are no legal requirements in Texas for them to alert customers to a 15% rate increase so their not going to do it. I'm now paying 50% more for internet service than I am for electricity and there is no competition to choose from. What a racket!!!
Optimum’s habit of responding to every negative review without any noticeable improvement in service says a lot about how the company operates. I’m giving two stars because, when the service actually works, it performs well. As of now, I’m getting around 989 Mbps download speeds for $100 per month. However, I have internet service at other properties with similar speeds for less—some significantly less and definitely with less outages.
One ongoing frustration is something that should be simple: changing my network name and password. When I signed up three years ago, I was told this could easily be done through their website. In reality, every attempt over the past three years has resulted in the same error message: “Sorry, we can’t complete your request at this time.”
Unfortunately, in Georgetown, Texas Optimum seems to have a near-monopoly, leaving customers stuck dealing with outages and subpar service enabling them to raise prices with little worry of user cancellations.

Untrustworthy. Keep rising the prices on you without giving you advance notice. Sure it's in the contract, but that's still not an acceptable business practice. Trying to cancel with them is hellishly long and it is 100% intentional. Avoid avoid avoid.

Very bad service. Although the internet works well, when you try to call to cancel, it is complicated. We tried to transfer the account to family members who are currently residing in the old location, and it didn't work, so we got charged $120. Wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

If I can rate them 0 stars that’s what they will get they do what they want, you call with what’s going on and what your trying to do they say ok no problem I understand I will take care of it you think it’s taken care of til you receive your bill and wondering what the charges are call back they read what the rep wrote you ask to hear the recording oh we have to get it you tell them no problem you have it it’s nothing what he just read to you hang up and cannot get through sad company how are they still in business

I have tried cancelling this service twice. Each time I'm asked a bunch of questions and offered deals to lower my payment. When I called to ask for these options, they told me that there weren't any available. They keep raising my rate. The best part is that my last day of the billing cycle is almost a month away and I've already switched services and yet they tell me I still owe for the rest of the month. I'm not paying for something I'm not even using! How can they charge me for what I'm not using?! I have been on the phone for over 20 minutes and she still keeps trying to stop me from disconnecting. This company is absurd!

I am extremely disappointed as my Optimum mobile service was down from 7 p.m. yesterday and only resumed at 2 p.m. today. My son’s phone is still not working no service and I was told the SIM card would arrive yesterday, but it hasn’t been activated. I deeply regret choosing Optimum. My T-Mobile service was working perfectly, and I only switched to save a bit of money. However, I am absolutely dissatisfied with your service.
From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., I went through a terrible ordeal with customer service. They kept chatting with me and giving me numbers that never worked. I had no service on my phone so how could I even call them? I had to drive to the Optimum store just to get my phone activated, despite not even knowing the location in advance. The store employee did turn on my phone, but with the wrong number it was not the number I originally had.
Please cancel this service immediately. I request a full refund of the activation fee. I expect a prompt response on how you will prevent this in the future.

Optimum servicing Nacogdoches, TX, requested new service for TV, Optimum sent equipment and scheduled Technician to install in 2 days. Technician did not show, Optimum did not call, called for status of Technician arrival after 2 hours waiting, was told no technician was coming. Wanted reschedule, my response was, I will go with another company afraid of same outcome, no show. Spent 2 hours trying to cancel service on same day, Optimum didn’t cancel, spent another day and 2 hours again to cancel. Was called by Optimum and threaten they will send a technician to my house to install because I will be charged for a month of service, the only way to not pay was to test service. I told them I called a cable company same day Optimum didn’t show and the installed next day, no longer need Optimum, again Optimum threatening stating if I didn’t take the offer they will bill me for a month and charge me for the equipment. I stated again do not send a Technician, Optimum said look for the bill. This was bulling and threatening will report the threat.

Optimum is actually the worst. I was a costumer for 4+ years. I moved & had to quit my services due to the new place having WiFi included. I wanted to end on good terms, because I was planing on getting back on with them when I move again… had none of their equipment. They refused to let me go, many many phone calls later I was finally released. Then, they turned around and charged me for equipment anyway… after confirming that none of it was theirs. Will never return as a costumer! :)

My understanding is that Sudden Link cable morphed into Optimum internet. That explains a lot. Sudden Link was horrible, and - true to form - Optimum has been horrible as well. Used the internet service for about a year. During that time, the service went out (approx) once per month. Sometimes for hours, sometimes more than a day. Luckily, I have a hotspot on my phone that I can use, because I use the internet for reaching and helping customers. Most times when the service went out, I got a text message telling me so, but not always. You CANNOT reach a human, unless they're sending you through the channels to get you to the "retention" department, even though you've told them you have no interest in staying. When the bill recently went up (this happened several times over the year) it went up about $30 per month and I was DONE. I had to insist on canceling, but what a nightmare. They also make you keep the service until the end of the billing cycle and won't prorate you regardless. What a joke. Believe all the negative reviews folks, they're for real. Avoid this service at all costs.
UPDATE: Look at the response from these people?! If that doesn't prove that they're so out of touch and don't have a clue about their customers, I don't know what does.

In November 2025 I had switched to Verizon Cable since they offered me the Bundle package I had with Optimum for only $169 for three years and Optimum was charging me $215 with no more promotional discounts. Since then I have been trying to get a refund for the dates (11/17-11/21/202) they did not provide services to me since I had switched to Verizon. I called customer services and requested that a refund for four days of serice be sent to me and they gave me the round about and would disconnect the call and never called back. I wrote to two different Billing Dept. listed on the back of my statements, one letter was returned stating "Mail Refused" and the other Company never responded to my mail. It is now March 2026 and Optimum still refuses to send me my credit. This is how they treat a customer of ten years. They are ready to charge a late fee if you are one day late but refused to send me my credit refund. I did get a check for $3.91 in December as a credit for my December 2025 bill. THIS IS THE WORSE COMPANY i HAVE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH. SO CONSUMERS BE AWARE OF WHAT YOU ARE PROMISED AND NEVER DELIVERED.

I wish I could give these thieves a ZERO! I was one of the first customers in my area to get cable internet. That was over 30 years ago. Optimum bought out Suddenlink several years ago. Ever since the TV service has been a joke with constant loss of sound as well as pixelation, freezes, the black screen to name a few of the issues. Internet was constantly well below the speed I paid for and latency was at times worst then when I had dial-up! The support people DO NOT SPEAK English and on more occasions than I can count on both hands and my feet over and over again I wasted hours trying to communicate with total IDIOTS! In January 2026 I had finally had all I could take from this company of fools. I request to have my service disconnected. The Optimum employee whit whom I tried to communicate my wishes to would not do as I asked. He tried at least 5 times to sell me the exact package that I had had for years at a lower price than I was paying which included their mobile service. I informed this idiot that their cell service did not work where I worked so it was of no use to me. He decided that it would be a backup phone. I said no I am done with Optimum and you. DISCONNECT MY SERVICE! Finally he said okay . Low and behold in March I received a bill for the month of March for $195.29. Of course I called since I had requested Optimum service be discontinued. After speaking to several Optimum idiots, two of which said they could see where I had requested the service to be disconnected in January 2026. I was sent to a RETENSION/ BILLING specialist who told me that I was liable for the payment since their IDIOT employee had not completed the disconnect request. I was furious that OPTIMUM EMPLOYEES failed to do their job and was told that my PAST DUE ACCOUNT would be sent to collection agency! This company should be fined for their business practices. I have contacted the Attorney Generals office and filed a complaint against OPTIMUM. I am paying the extortion because of the threat to my credit score.

Watch them they steal your $$$. I ordered a tablet back in september or, october but, never received it, it was returned back to them. I confirmed that!!
They asked if I wanted them to resend it..I said no..i didn't want it or, the service..the tablet comes with a line / phone number.
Long story short...they've been charging me for a tablet i don't have...a line for a tablet i don't use ..i just called them 3/12/26 requesting a refund...they told me they can't give me a refund..
When did it become ok not to refund someone $$$...when the proof is right there?

⭐️ 1-Star Review — My Experience With Optimum Wireless
I wanted to share my experience in case anyone is considering switching to Optimum Wireless. In my opinion, it’s not a good carrier, especially if you travel, rely on group chats with both iPhone and Android users, or expect solid customer service.
I switched from Cricket Wireless to Optimum and regretted it within the first two days. Optimum does not support RCS, which means if you’re in group chats with Android users, you’ll miss some—or even all—of the messages. For me, that alone was a dealbreaker.
Coverage was decent, but definitely not the full T‑Mobile coverage they claim. Customer service was easy to reach, but actually getting help was difficult. Several representatives were hard to understand due to heavy accents, and the overall knowledge level felt low.
I had the service for less than 7 days, and they still charged me $97, which they refused to prorate or refund. When I called to cancel, they tried extremely hard to keep me—offering new iPhones, Samsung phones, a $30/month plan for a year, even six months free. Honestly, it came across as desperate.
I finally got my transfer PIN and left.
We’re now with T‑Mobile on the Essentials Saver plan—2 lines for $93.08/month including taxes and fees. Their insurance is pricey at $25 per line, so I went through my Progressive auto policy instead and insured both iPhones for $12 each. Altogether, we’re paying $117.08/month for two active, insured phones.
For comparison, I was paying $116/month at Cricket, and the coverage was solid. Cricket is actually a good carrier, and I would recommend them over Optimum any day.

Chose Optimum a year ago when we moved to Natchitoches, LA. Everything was fine until a month ago, when internet started going down constantly. Service tech came out, gave us a new router and said lines were bad so he replaced them. Now we get booted off every few minutes. Can't watch TV and no internet. THEY SUCK!!! Going to a different internet provider. I do NOT recommend Optimum at all

Got a real competative offer from a different provider and Optimum refused to match. Once I had them install the new service, optimum wanted to me to stay and matched my new bill. Told them no, they kept me on the phone for over 30 minutes refusing to let me just cancel. Was a customer for over 20+ years but they just dont care. Avoid optimum at all costs.

If you're looking for good service, decent customer support and competitive pricing then run as fast as possible from Opti-scam! I've been a customer for four years since they bought out my previous ISP and it's been nothing short of a constant nightmare of outages and the most stupid offshore customer non-service. They should be rated a negative 5 instead of anything positive. Please, do NOT allow them into your life or home since you will be incredibly disappointed. Beyond horrible!

They’re not trustworthy. They lie and scam their customers. A few months ago I called customer service and told them I wanted to cancel my service because I was charged $143 for my cable though I only have the basic channels (4 channels) and the lowest internet speed. So, the rep offered me a contract for five years for only $97 a month. I agreed and started paying $97 for four months. Just now they informed me through my email that my next bill is going to be $178. I called them again and I was told that no one was there to assist me regarding that matter and I need to call back tomorrow. So, this was lie #1.
The second lie when they convinced me to switch my phone service to Optimum with a $15 a month offer and so I did. My first bill was for $15 as they promised. The second, third and forth bill was for $48 though they offered unlimited data. Add to that they charged me $97 activation fee for my phone but they said they’ll give it back to me in a form of credit. Up to this moment I haven’t received that credit. I’m done with this company. Whatever they say is a lie. Stay away from them.
